I got this unit to cool my bedroom, and it works great for that. No complaints so far, and I love the remote. It's been running every night for a couple of months now and keeps the room nice and cool.

This AC is very cold and cools the room quickly. I like the sleep feature so I don't wake up with icicles on my nose. However this thing is extremely load and noisy. As with most ACs today they are insulated with a Styrofoam product. Well it sounds like someone is twisting it in my ear all night. I have to get rid of this thing.

We're very happy with this little a/c unit. It was a piece of cake to install, it's easy to operate (straightforward controls), and it cools down our spare bedroom very quickly, though it probably doesn't have the power (BTUs) to handle larger spaces. The "economy" mode is very nice. In this mode, the a/c unit turns on to cool, and then when it reaches the temperature you've set on the digital thermostat, it turns off - just like a central air-conditioning system. You can also separately set the fan to "auto," and the unit will automatically select the fan speed needed to most efficiently cool the room. On "low," the fan is very quiet. The unit also comes with a handy remote control that allows anyone who has mobility issues (or extremely lazy people) to adjust all of the unit's features remotely. The only feature lacking on the remote is a temperature sensing system. On other (usually more expensive) models, you can put the remote anywhere in the room, and the a/c will operate to cool the room to the temperature where the remote is located. Not a big deal, though. If this becomes an issue, you can simply set the temperature on the a/c unit a few degrees lower (e.g., if you want the part of the room furthest from the a/c unit to be 70 degrees, you can probably get away with setting the temperature on the unit to 65, which is what we do). For the money, this is a great little air-conditioner! If mine broke, I'd go out and buy another one right away.

    Replacing other A/C

I just purchased this AC after replacing a zenith in my bedroom that i JUST PURCHASED last year. I found this Frigidaire at the last location on a HOT 106 degree day. Its quiet, it feels like its got a quality build, and it seems and feels sturdy. People talk about how loud it is..But its to be understood that you have a compressor running as well as a fan. Of course its going to be loud. For the quality and the products craftsmanship, I would say this is a nicely priced item. Overall I give the product an excellent rating.

I've had a lot of air conditioners. This one is great for the price. I chose this one because its parts didn't look flimsy like on other aircons. The buttons and remote all work well and the aircon itself cools the room within around 10-15 mins with very little noise. I've had it for 6 weeks now and have no complaints whatsoever. If you buy it and it makes a lot of noise then it probably has a problem. Mine made a bit of a watery/whoosy noise one night so I just turned it off. But other than that one time it has been very satisfactory.

I've been fortunate enough to not need an air conditioner in most of the apartments I've lived so I can't compare this one to any other. It was fairly easy to install with just one person. I've had it about a month and it works well and is pretty quiet for an air conditioner. I especially like that all the features can be accessed through the remote.

    Good overall air conditioner

The air conditioner is very quiet overall but sometimes makes a woshing sound. It is like water getting spun by the fan blade, however, it is not water because it happened as soon as I installed it and turned it on. It is not loud, but you can hear it and it does not happen all the time. Other than that it is very quiet.

    Noisy Noisy Noisy

This is the noisiest air conditioner that I ever owned! There is a loud inconsistant clanking noise that comes from the fan. I sounds like the fan is rubbing on something. I tried the solution mentioned in other reviews and didn't have any luck. I think my problem is different! One other thing worth mentioning. I like to store my air conditioner in the box that it comes in for the winter. The box that this unit comes in is not good for that, it pretty much falls apart when you open it! The only reason that I gave it two stars is because it cools great!

    More noise than hot air

Installation was easy, and it seems to function OK... that is, it makes cold air. However. It is extremely noisy. When the compressor is running, it sounds quite literally like a plastic straw is being tossed around by the fan. The noise was perfectly audible to the guy I called at their tech support number. He insisted the noise is perfectly normal, and the supervisor I asked to speak with also told me that the noise is normal. I suppose this would work for cooling down a room when nobody is around, but it is certainly not suitable for use in a bedroom or any room where listening is required (TV, music, etc.)

This is an inexpensive unit, with a remote and digital features. When first installed it worked fine. Cooing a small bedroom adequately. After about two week we began to hear a grinding noise, like a bearing in the motor was not right. The noise persisted, and we returned the unit.

Poor quality, doesn't cool, died in 2 weeks

I bought two 5000 BTU, one 6000 BTU and one 8000 BTU Frigidaire AC's 2 weeks ago, the 5000's and the 8000 freeze their rooms and work perfectly and wonderfully quietly. Then there's this one.... The 6000 BTU had a little noise in it that came and went right out of the box, like the fan was rubbing up against the Styrofoam insulation inside on occasion. I figured it wasn't that loud and we'd get used to it. Wish I would have returned it like my wife wanted right away. The room never got too cold, even setting it all the way down to 61 it wasn't as cold as the other rooms set on 66. A couple of days ago we started waking up sweating and my wife mentioned hearing a clicking inside. It seems like the compressor won't turn on and repeatedly tries and fails. I bought these Frigidaire AC's because I didn't like the noisy cheap LG's I bought at Home Depot in the past and thought Frigidaire was supposed to be the best in the business. 2 weeks is a horribly short life for an AC. I seriously hope the others die within the 30 days if they are going to fail too or maybe this size is just a lemon (it seems to have the most bad reviews of the 3 models I purchased) Going to return it today, wish me luck...

This unit puts LG and GE to shame! I have tossed several LG units for failure and poor performance and this Frigidaire has really surprised me. Simple installation, both fan and compressor start up are so much quieter than the competition I am amazed. Until you see all of the features on the remote, you might think the remote is useless for a room air conditioner but it is useful. Even the air flow control louvers are exceptional for the various directional flow control. If the "beep" from setting changes was too loud - they must have corrected it to be less than LG for sure. I enjoy being able to say something good for anything these days, but I have to give this product credit!
