Good for the $$
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yes I read the reviews before buying this A/C but taking the good with the bad I bought it because it was the right size and money. I use it for my enclosed back porch/sunroom which can get very hot sometime due to poor insulation and lots of windows. It is a lot smaller and lighter then the old unit and it has more features to boot. It cools very well and yes it started out fairly quiet but after a while it did become somewhat louder then the first day. I say louder but to be honest out in the sunroom its not a big issue, and I think its due to the normal water build up in the pan that causes the fan to become louder after it fills up the first time. I suppose if your using this for a small bedroom you might not want to have it running on full cool, but you could and if the fan gets turned down a notch it would probably be a lot better. All in all for the money and the functions....... its a good deal.

A cool product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought this unit to replace a Sharp unit of the same size for our master bedroom. The Sharp unit had worked fine last year; this year it cooled, but the volume was unbearable. The Frigidaire unit was even easier to install than expected BUT the pictures in the manual are too small and too light. Without having just installed a similar unit, I would have had trouble. Once installed, the unit is quiet and cools well. Be sure to get the version with a temperature sensor in the remote control. Our bedroom is quite long and the air conditioner is at the other end from the bed. By keeping the remote near the bed, the sleeping temperature is just fine. I would rate this even higher if the louvers were better at directional air flow. We'll see how well the Frigidaire unit continues to perform.

Great AC Unit
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This unit works very well. I picked this up to keep a small 11x11 room cool and I know it is technically overkill according to the sizing charts but 5000 BTU was not cutting it for me. This AC works well and has kept my room nice and cool so far this summer.

Little work horse
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our central A/C unit quit blowing cold air after we had a power outage during a storm and needed a quick fix. Found this on sale at Best Buy. Our living room and dining area are approx. 300 sq ft combined and this unit claims it cools up to 350 sq ft. After installing and plugging it in this little A/C cooled us off pretty quickly. Actually it has been doing a better job than the central A/C ever did. It keeps the two rooms at a comfortable constant 78º while it's reaching close to 100º with humidity outside. The way this thing has been performing I may not even bother getting the central A/C fixed. Has to be cheaper to run as well. This was definitely a good buy.

So Happy - We Bought a 2nd One!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought one of these this past summer for our back suite of our house. Our kids have moved out and we don't use much of the house anymore. Now I keep the main thermostat on about 77° but I can keep our bedroom/bathroom in the 68° range. Installation was easy. Everything worked perfectly out of the box. I love the efficiency of the unit. Our electric bills went down noticeably when we started using it. I do wish it were a bit quieter. We usually have to kick up the volume on the TV when it's on high. All-in-all though, very happy with the unit. We were also building a cabin in East Texas. I was so happy with the 1st unit, we bought another for the cabin. Got it mounted this weekend. The remote allowed us to mount it up high on the wall, about 8', to help draw in all of the warm air in the room. I took off the accordion wings and mounted this one straight into a frame built into the wall. Paid under $200 for it on sale. Great value. Great performance!

Excellent cooling power
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I searched for an 8,000 btu air conditioner for a week, and was surprised to see the frigidaire so highly rated. I had purchased another brand that I had to return because of a very high pitched sound every time the compressor came on. When I took the Frigidaire out of the box I was worried because it had the same instructions and construction as the noisy one. We installed it and it worked flawlessly and fairly quietly right from the start. The remote is uninspiring, but works fine.

Very disappointing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.1. The unit is extremely noisy, and the econ mode is terrible for a bedroom as it wakes you up every time it cycles on. Econ mode is a good idea but the temperature fluctuations become uncomfortable and it's better to run the unit in "cool" mode for a more even temperature. 2. The unit is defective - we are using it in a smaller space than it is rated for and it does not keep the room cool. 3. The unit has very poor sealing around the flanges, lets in hot air and noise from the outside. 4. The vents should be adjustable both upwards and downwards, they are only adjustable upwards. 5. The reading on the thermostat is completely irrelevant, ignore it. I'm returning this, I hate it. I should say I also bought the 12000 BTU version, which is much quieter and is fairly good at cooling the room (although it is also poorly sealed around the window, and the same criticisms of the econ mode apply).

I don't get it...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked up this unit because of all the great reviews. I'm not impressed at all. I thought since it's 2015 this would be a new tech AC unit and work like a charm. It's just like the old window units from 30 years ago to me. Loud and annoying... I have it in my very small bedroom and it has to be on fairly high to cool it (only 10"x11' small!!). Can't hear my TV when it's on and if it's low it's just a waste really. After reading the reviews I was hoping it would be super quite and powerful but not mine... good luck

Noisy cooling
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you cannot hear or this is intended to be used in an industrial forge or saw mill, this is the one for you. I bought a 6000 BTU Frigidaire and it is very quiet and works well, so I thought the 8,000 one would be the same with extra cooling capacity. Yes for cooling - works fine in that regard, but boy is it loud.

Good air conditioner, but no remote sensing ft.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall it's a good air conditioner, a little on the louder side than my old Frigidaire window a/c. Picture on here showed it had the "Remote Sensing" feature with a thermostat on the remote control that was not the case.

I would recommend this to a friendBrand response from FrigidaireSupport
Posted .Hey Lalo21, thank you for choosing Frigidaire for your appliance needs. I understand that you are a little concerned with your air conditioner. Is the area you live in humid? The water could be caused from high humidity. This can be corrected by installing a dehumidifier in your home and/or installing a drain adapter and drain hose to your air conditioner that will direct water to a safe location. Hope this is helpful! Kindly, Jennifer

Piece of junk
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Compressor has a high whining sound, temperature sensor only monitors the room temperature within inches of the unit, hence, a setting of 73 results in a room temperature of 77.5, frame housing for sliders interferes with placing the unit on the window sill. Do not buy this unit.

Awesome AC Unit!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This a/c has served me well. It finally, after four years, needs to be retired, but I was very happy with it for the entire four years. I would buy this unit again in a heartbeat.

BRAND NEW - There is a Constant High Pitched Noise
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.https://youtu.be/cXKhfSUTfno The above link is to a video I took showing the noise this unit makes whenever its cool/econ cycle is on. I am hoping with your help I can tell if this is a defective unit and exchange it, instead of having to look for another unit without the noise. Thanks

Frigidaire FFRE08B3Q1 8,000 BTU window air conditi
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the AC when I first got it but there is work being done in the vicinity of my neighborhood and the dirt that acccumumulated from the building when it rained fell right in to the Air conditioning unit. Leaving all the spoil smells and such garbage in the A/C unit. It could also use a back hose hook up to let out the bad water

Compressor whine unbearable, loud fan.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this at Best Buy to replace a 3 year old 6000 BTU Kenmore, I needed something a little more powerful. The compressor "whine" on this model is unbearable, it's a high pitched whine that cuts through the air like a smoke alarm going off, though it wasn't literally as loud as a smoke alarm. I could hear the compressor whine two rooms away from where the AC was located. The manual says it's "normal" for a high pitched whine to be heard from the compressor, but I truly hope I had a broken unit because if they all sound like that then Frigidaire should be ashamed of themselves. I thought maybe it needed to be broken in , but in two weeks of use the compressor whine did not change. The fan is also very loud on High and Medium, but it is moving a lot of air so that's to be expected. When I had the fan on High it helped to slightly diffuse the compressor whine, when the fan is on low the compressor whine is at it's worst. Second issue aside from noise was the thermostat. The unit did an excellent "initial" job of cooling the room, however once it hit it's target temperature it would turn off and not come on again until the room heated back up, I'm not talking 2-3 degrees, it was more like 5-6 degrees before the compressor would kick back on, this was noticeably uncomfortable, it lets the room get too hot before turning back on. Possibly I had a broken unit, however I've seen similar reviews noting the same high pitched whine in this unit.
