The vent fans have high and low setting, low is still very loud. We liked it overall but it took a crap yesterday so if you enjoy buying microwaves every year this is the unit for you! It's hard to believe the "nicer" models are built so poorly. It used to be you spent more on the higher end models, you got a higher quality product...just not the case anymore.

Frigidaire gallery microwave

I did not realize how much I need this for re-heating, or quick pancakes for my grand daughter. The look is really sleek, even on the inside. Works excellent.
