I was genuinely surprised by the strength of the story and how well the music integrated with the story line. Disney successfully brings the modern day broadway musical to the movie medium in such a convincing and refreshing manner. The sisters (Ana and Elsa) are at the core of this story and while there are familiar themes, this is a story about the bond between siblings. Like in some of the best fairy tales the message is simple. Love will melt away fear, evil and a frozen heart. In other words, good people with good intentions can do bad things because of fear. Yet love, can motivate the ultimate personal sacrifice and triumph over evil. It's a Disney movie that remembers it's animation heritage but pushes forward to be relevant to today's family and children. So what if Frozen has made ridiculous amounts of money. It's earned it. To the nay sayers, just Let it Go...

Spectacular music, animation and writing make this the best Disney film in years. As well as the great story, music, and humor, this Blu Ray delivers a knockout picture and audio. This is now my Blu Ray that I will use to show off my system. My only complaint is the lack of a 3D transfer. Both the film and the animated short shown at the beginning of the movie were great 3D material - to not have a high quality edition of these animations on Blu Ray is truly a crime. The pragmatist in me fears that Disney has distributed this Blu Ray first, and will re-release the film as a "Diamond Edition" in the coming months that will have the 3D transfer, which will required those of us that want 3D to purchase another copy of the movie. Outside of that nit, I cannot recommend both the film and Blu Ray transfer highly enough!

I have been looking for this particular title in a Steelbook release for a few years now! I don't know if this is a case of old inventory being distributed, or a reprint/re-release... and I don't care! I adore the Steelbook case for my home video collection! Frozen is also one of my all-time favorite Disney movies, right up there with Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast!

I have been double dipping a lot lately with this latest wave of Disney 4k steelbooks. I'm at least glad they are using alternate covers, which is something that I don't like when they keep using the same covers for all releases. This Frozen cover is great. Much better cover then any previous release. Picture quality is great over all but maybe not what some expect out of 4k. This batch seem to be just a good 1080p transfer and not 4k. But still, great deal on a great movie.

I saw this in 3D at the theatre and looked forward to the release to disc. If you see me driving around town belting it out and get jealous, you can totally drama-geek out too! I'll turn it up so you can hear it. Or get your own copy! Scene selection 4 has the duet, "Love Is An Open Door" and 5:30 is "Let It Go." I love Tangled, Princess & the Frog, Mulan, and really all Disney animated movies. This one raises the bar. I have 4 kiddos and the compassionate way Disney shows how a child who is well loved can feel neglected just speaks to my children. My 12 year old son is the child who appreciates this movie most and he is ALL boy! The story is very loving and tells a human story of sibling love, people seeking power/status at the expense of others, and self-sacrifice. Love, Love, LOVE this one!

I'm not a collector of these SteelBook movies, but I got a really great deal on this one. What I actually appreciate about the package is that it provides better protection if the movie is being carted around (say in a bag or backpack), and it doesn't feel like it's going to break or crack from the strain of opening it or removing the disc. Of course, in purchasing a movie in this form, you also get a lot of extras on the disc. If you like those "side" videos about how the movie is made, or about the music, or story, etc etc, you will appreciate all that is included with this one.

All the little girls who are in love with this movie could not convince me to see it, but after a long time, I wanted to know if it was as good as they indicated. I was impressed by the graphics and 3d animation, but I was more than impressed with the trick story line, not your run-of-the-mill gaga romance. Oh, yes, there is sappy in the scene and the hopelessly cliche snowman, but really, the script and songs flowed well and the imagery was more abstract than I am used to seeing in a Disney flic. It does not warm my heart as the old D style did when I was young, but it is not gag-me sappy. So I give this a five, perhaps because I was pleasantly surprised that all the little girls were right.

After seeing this with my daughter in the theater, I knew without a doubt I had to buy it on DVD upon release. It has the heart and soul of all those classic Disney movies from the earlier ones such as Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella to the later ones such as Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. But it has a few modern twists which do not take away its appeal as a "happily ever after" predestined movie that we all know has to inevitably happen in a Disney movie aimed at young audiences. Very refreshing in this day and age of mindness movies aimed more at showing off the most techical graphics, violence, horror, and/or too mature topics, all rolled into bland, boring or non-existent plots. It's great to see Disney come out with a winner that's destined to be a true classic.

I’m a huge fan of steel books! I’m also a huge fan of owning hard copies of movies. Yes, we have the digital age, where the “cloud” seems to hold everything . Well, not in my house! We have DVD’s, and this one is a favorite of mine! Every movie I purchase lately has been with the steel book format. I just love them! I’ve got plenty of room to display them, and they are gorgeous to look at! Plus, I have the peace of mind of protection of those same discs. It’s a fortress for my Frozen movie! My obsession with steel books is something I’ll never “let it go”.

This is the Disney First Princess to not ever need a Prince Charming to save her. Her little sister was a little thirsty, but she soon realized that it was love, sisterly love that would save them all. It was a deep movie. Sometimes, we as parents, think we are doing what's right by our children by making them hide what's inside of them to protect them, but it is really hurting them. When she was walking on that mountain and singing "Let It Go" you could feel all of her emotions finally being released and her not caring who sees the real her. That is the way we should raise our children, to be free. Free to be themselves. Do not hide. If you want to dance, be a soccer player, singer, we should encourage their dreams and not worry about what others will think.

Spoiler alert- Anna and Elsa’s parents die. The two are separated (no parenting) and trolls rule the forest... classic formula dressed up in icicles

We do not yet have a Blue-Ray player but we are planning on buying one soon. This package comes with two disks (1 regular DVD and 1 Blue-Ray) so we couldn't go wrong. Additionally, you get a digital copy to download for your portable devices. We haven't tried out the download yet but we plan on using it during our next long car ride with the kids. The accompanying Frozen-theme activity book is also a nice touch if you have small kids. I was very impressed with the sound quality (better than I remembered from the theater). Oh, you get a coupon (of sorts) to purchase a 32-song sound-track for $7.00. Because of the great kid-friendly music, we will definitely be ordering our copy. The kids don't get tired of this movie. Great investment.

Despite grinding my molars each time Let It Go blasts across the room, the smile on our granddaughter’s face more than makes up for it. She LOVES Elsa and Anna and never tires of the music or the story line. This DVD was the highlight of Christmas morning. Did an order-online, pick-up-in-the store purchase and it was absolutely painless. Walked past the long lines at the checkout counter just a few days before Christmas and straight up to the Pick Up counter. The single customer ahead of me completed his transaction just as I approached. I picked up the DVD and was back in the car in less than 5 minutes. Doesn’t get any easier than that!

I wasn't thrilled about the plot of the movie. I don't think that sisters being mean to each other throughout the majority of the film is a good example to young girls. I kept imagining sisters playing pretend and in order to do that they would have to be mean to each other to be in character. I didn't like that. I also didn't like how "love-crazed" Anna was. I don't that is a great example - to put such an emphasis on finding a husband and just "being in love". Overall it was a good feel-good movie with a GREAT soundtrack, but I didn't like some of the subtleties that can easily be picked up on and mimicked by children watching it. I would recommend this to disney-loving adults, but not to a mother with young children.

I'm sure it probably would have been very good to see if I would have had a 4K Ultra HDTV, plus some additional paraphenalia that I was unaware that I needed. I just thought that having a BluRay player would enough. I guess not. I had to return the DVD. Maybe put all of the 4K Ultra HD DVD's together in one section with a sign that lists what all is needed. People can read the sign and determine if they really want to buy the DVD. If they have questions, they can ask a sales associate who could explain what all is needed and how to hook everything up. I have never had a bad sales associate at Best Buy.

This is the first Disney movie in years that has captured the classic Disneyfeel in possibly over a decade. The music was spot on. I was worried my two sons wouldn't like it because of the female leads, but there are plenty of characters for all children to love. My biggest complaint is the DVD extras. I'm a big fan of watching how movies are created from scratch. When you click the "making of" feature you get a musical number sung by the cast and crew that basically says: "want to know how Frozen was made? Too bad!" And the song ends...no making of. It felt like a slap to the face. There was a decent feature about the story origins, but it was hard to get the bad taste of that musical feature out of my mouth.

The animation is perfection with a 3D effect even on plain viewing. The voices are perfectly cast, even the Olaf character for comedy relief. One can easily see this going on Broadway, and making the Lion King and Beauty and the Beast seem like old news. Though staging this on Broadway may present some challenges. It's also refreshing to have the classic "Prince" turn out to be exactly the wrong match instead of the old Disney-fare of instant love in a day. Heart-felt script with a point about true acts of selfless devotion is not missed, even on very small children. And who knew Kristen Bell could sing like that! We expect it of Idina Menzel from Broadway's "Wicked". But Ms. Bell's voice was mesmerizing.

Our 2 year old granddaughter loves this movie, which she watches at her home. We babysit her 4 days per week, so we purchased a copy to watch at our house. I'm sure she will love it. We haven't had a chance for her to watch our copy yet. Hopefully it works, the only copy left at the Best Buy I went to was in an opened package, so hopefully it is not damaged. I requested an unopened copy or a discount, but the checkout clerk refused by request. I didn't have time to argue, so I just made the purchase and moved on, however it made me less likely to go to this or any other Best Buy in the future. I would recommend the movie to a friend, but advise them to shop around first.

I'm writing this review because I get 25 reward points for it. Normally my reviews would have a greater sense of journalistic integrity, but here I'm not sure it matters. This movie is like the great kid movie phenomenon of the past year. You're either buying it or you aren't. Let's not kid ourselves imagining a hand wringing consumer browsing pages of customer reviews to decide if they will, in fact, drop hard earned cash on Frozen. I imagine 99% of the American population A) already owns it, B) plans to own it in the near near future, C) doesn't care to own it. Of the last 1%, 99% of them don't know about it. So this is for you 0.01% - you need to buy this movie. If you have kids.

Got this movie for my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day this year. He didn’t have it and he’s always wanted it so I got lucky getting the edition for him on sale. I got it around the holiday season. I took advantage of it before it went back up on price. I knkw a lot of people don’t think it’s good but I think it’s such an amazing movie for any adult who’s a kid at heart and definitely for kids too. It’s such an amazing movie. Definitely need to add this Disney movie into your Disney collection.
