Great for Sports Fans, a Bit Pricey Overall

I’ve been using FuboTV for a few months, and overall, it’s been a solid experience — especially if you’re a sports fan. The channel lineup is one of the best for live sports, covering everything from soccer and NFL to regional sports networks that other streaming platforms often lack. The picture quality is crisp, and the streaming is generally smooth, even with multiple devices connected. That said, FuboTV isn’t perfect. The monthly cost is on the higher side, especially once you add in taxes and regional sports fees. Some entertainment channels (like TNT or TBS) are missing, which can be a downside if you like watching more than just sports. Also, the DVR feature works well but feels a bit limited compared to competitors — it’s cloud-based, and managing recordings can be clunky at times. What I do appreciate is how easy it is to navigate the app, and the live guide makes flipping between games effortless. Customer service has been decent the couple of times I needed help, with quick responses through chat. If you’re mainly looking for live sports and can handle the cost, FuboTV is definitely one of the top streaming options out there. But if you’re after a broader mix of movies and shows, there might be better value elsewhere.

    Fubo review

I’ve been a Fubo subscriber for six months—mostly for live sports, but I’ve used the app across iOS, Fire TV, and Chrome. Here’s the straight story on where it shines and where it still fumbles. 1. Content & Channel Mix • Sports-first DNA: NFL RedZone, beIN Sports, regional Bally Sports, and the new ESPN/ABC/Disney bundle (finally) make this the richest single package for cord-cutting fans. • General entertainment: Hallmark, FX, Bravo, and a healthy on-demand catalog fill the gaps between games. • Missing pieces: No TNT/TBS means you lose some NBA playoffs and March Madness games—still the biggest gap. 2. Streaming Quality & Reliability • 4K/HDR: When available (Premier League, select NFL games), the feed is crisp and stable at 25–30 Mbps. • 60 fps everywhere: Even niche soccer leagues stream butter-smooth on Fire TV. • Occasional hiccups: Twice I’ve seen 30-second “stream unavailable” errors during peak NFL Sundays—annoying, but rare. 3. Interface & Discovery • Home tab: “Live in 15 min” row is genius—no more digging for kickoff times. • Fire TV: Horizontal guide now loads in ~2 seconds vs. the 6-second crawl it had at launch. • Mobile: Swipe-right stats overlay (xG, shot charts, player speeds) is slick for fantasy nerds. • Downsides: No “watch from beginning” button on Apple TV; you have to scroll back in the timeline manually. 4. Cloud DVR & Lookback • 1000-hour cloud DVR (included in Elite plan) is generous; auto-extend for live events actually works. • Lookback (72-hour rewind on most channels) saves me when I forget to hit record. • One gripe: Deleting folders on mobile is buried three taps deep. 5. Multiview & Extras • iPad/Fire TV multiview (up to 4 streams) is clutch on NFL Sundays—audio sync is solid. • FanView stats panel on iPhone is fun, but drains 12–15 % battery per half of soccer. 6. Pricing & Value • Elite plan: $89.99/mo feels steep until I price out YouTube TV + Sports Plus + Bally Sports add-ons. • No contracts, easy pause/resume via the app—handy during off-season. 7. Customer Support • Live chat solved a billing double-charge in under 5 minutes at 10 p.m. ET—kudos. • Knowledge base search is still meh; had to Google how to enable surround sound on Fire TV. Bottom Line Fubo is the closest thing to a sports mega-bundle for cord-cutters who refuse pirate streams. The app’s performance, 4K sports, and best-in-class DVR outweigh the TNT-shaped hole and occasional Sunday glitches. If you live for live sports, it’s worth the premium; if you just need CNN and HGTV, cheaper options exist.

    My take on this service

Pros: Channels streamed without issues. Super Bowl streamed flawlessly. No buffering. No drop outs. HDR worked well. Streams are quick to start. Cons: Expensive. Regional sports charge is a hidden fee. Virtually no 4k streams. On-demand programming have ads inserted. Paying over $100 per month should be a ad-free experience. Low bit rate video streams. No 5.1+ surround sound support. My hardware: 500mbit Internet Chromecast 4K with Google TV (HDMI 2.0 with HDR support) LG 4K OLED TV (HDMI 2.1 with HDR support) High quality 5.1 speaker system (HDMI 2.0 with HDR support) Con's broken down: Cost: I get it. You need to run a business. Traditional cable or satellite costs the same as Fubo so you have a userbase that is used to the "value" at this cost level and have plenty of subscribers. Media companies charge a lot to license. Etc. etc. If possible, re-arranging channels to be ala cart or in smaller groups to reduce subscription costs would be preferred. Extremely little 4k media: Cloud DVR doesn't support 4k. I can get 720p/1080p media cheaper on any other platform (or buy the physical media). I am not a European football fan. The one game I did watch the bitrate was so poor that when players were running they turned into a blocky blur and when kicked the white foot ball turned into a white smear. Ads: I get ads in traditional media channels like locals or "cable" channels, but not on-demand. There are free streaming services that offer the same media with ads. Why would I pay $100+ a month to have the same experience as a free streaming service? Bitrate: Most channels appear to be 1-3mbit h264 720p. Compression artifacts are numerous and distracting. I am not looking for archival quality, blu-ray disc level bit rates, but the quality across all channels is poor. For $100+ per month I would expect more. The bare minimum should be 4-5mbit for h264. The Super Bowl was running between 2-5mbit and I was surprised I didn't notice any compression artifacts. Must be a benefit of the 1080p upscale or use of HEVC over h264. Other media streaming services offer high quality bitrates for both HD and 4K media. Fubo (or your content providers) have much to improve upon. No 5.1 audio. Maybe this is a restriction of your licensing agreements, but technically it stinks. Other services offer 5.1 audio. I noticed one of the 4K European football games did offer 5.1 but the CBS 4k / Super Bowl was 2.0. This is the year 2024. Pretty much everything is mastered with 5.1 audio. Is Fubo targeted primarily at mobile phone streaming? Maybe I'm in the dark on this one. It could be that many of the cons are out of the hands of Fubo and the fault lies with the content providers. I know my con list is long, but I do recognize nothing can be perfect. I've been a cord cutter long before the term existed. I've never paid for cable or satellite and have always run an antenna and find my media physically or online. Today I have an over the air ATSC 3.0 receiver. Between the antenna, Netflix, MLB.tv (included with T-Mobile), and Prime. I do not have any need for any of the programming offered by a traditional media service. It will take the traditional media services to change their model to entice me. I doubt that will ever happen. Thank you for the trial. I hope someday a service exists that meets my needs. Maybe that could be Fubo.

Purchasing this 85-inch TV has truly transformed my viewing experience. The picture quality is nothing short of breathtaking, with vivid colors, deep blacks, and remarkable clarity that brings every scene to life. Whether I'm watching movies, streaming sports, or gaming, the large screen size provides an incredibly immersive feel that rivals a theater experience. The sound quality is surprisingly rich for such a slim design, though pairing it with a soundbar elevates it even further. The smart features are intuitive and responsive, making it easy to access all my favorite apps and services. Setup was straightforward, and despite its impressive size, the TV’s sleek design blends beautifully into the room without feeling overpowering. Overall, I couldn’t be more satisfied with this purchase. If you have the space and appreciate stunning visuals, this 85-inch TV is absolutely worth the investment.

FuboTV has easily become my go-to streaming service. The channel selection is amazing—especially for live sports—and the picture quality is consistently crisp and smooth. I love how easy the interface is to navigate, and switching between channels or recording shows is super fast and seamless. The DVR features are a huge plus, and I appreciate how reliable the service is during big games and events. Compared to other platforms I’ve tried, FuboTV feels more organized, more complete, and definitely worth the money. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-tier streaming experience!

AWESOME TV! I have always bought the Insignia brand, and its never let me down as far as picture, quality and sound. Im on a serious budget so I used my old PC speakers (also Insignia) to make the sound complete. They work perfectly together.

Ok for kids shows and low key older movies. I wouldn't try it again. But others with kids could get better use out it I would think.

    Fubo the Sports Fans Streamer

So as an early adopter I have tried almost every streaming service & I am surprised it took me this long to try Fubo but I was pleasantly surprised. It is one of the pricier streamers but has most of the popular channels. One thing I will say that sets this apart from Hulu Live & Youtube Live is that Fubo is much more targeted towards sports (A Sports lover's dream streaming channel) I had to come up with clever ways to catch games before but so far, I am able to watch most of the games I am interested in.

Overall a great deal! I would have given 5 stars, except every once in a while the tv freezes up and will automatically turn itself off, and need to sit for a couple minutes before it will turn back on. Other than that, it’s been great, decent picture and good sound.
