Excellent picture and sound quality.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The video and sound quality alone is leaps and bounds better than the DVD or Blu-Ray versions of this film. However, there is a bit of graininess is a number of scenes which makes me wonder if this was even shot in native 4K. Various parts of the film seem like they have been upscaled to UHD.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce Nathalie Emmanuel as Megan Tony Jaa as Louie Tran Shad Moss as Twinkie Ludacris as Tej Parker Director James Wan Writer Chris Morgan Director of Photography Stephen F. Windon Action, Crime, Thriller Rated PG-13 for prolonged frenetic sequences of violence, action and mayhem, suggestive content and brief strong language 137 minutes ★★★☇ | Odie Henderson April 3, 2015 | Print Page “Furious 7” is a glorious overcompensation, a film so concerned about its rampant machismo that the casual viewer might miss how it Tokyo-drifts atop soap opera bubbles. Like Lee Daniels' hit TV drama “Empire,” “Furious 7” is stuffed with situations that require go-for-broke absurdity, but even Daniels and his nighttime soap predecessor Aaron Spelling would pause before attempting the level of “get the f—k outta here!” style shenanigans director James Wan and writer Chris Morgan employ. Watch Now Standing atop this installment of the series is its own Cookie Lyon, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel). Like Cookie, played by Taraji P. Henson on “Empire”, Toretto will protect those he loves at any cost. He spends the entire film seeking revenge. Those unfamiliar with the franchise will be left to their own devices as to why. There’s no “last time on the Fast and the Furious” recap to get you up to speed, and one shouldn’t expect it from a movie with "7" in its title. Viewers of “Fast and Furious 6” will know that the Tokyo-set demise of Han (Sung Kang), one of the main characters, sets this new installment’s plot in motion. After a package mailed from Tokyo nearly blows Toretto and his comrade-in-arms Brian (Paul Walker) to smithereens, Toretto senses a connection and is immediately out for blood. The bomb, and Han’s death, are courtesy of Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), an Englishman whose first stateside order of business is to hack the computer of Luke Hobbs (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) to find Toretto and his cohorts. Hobbs has this information because—last time on "The Fast and the Furious"—Hobbs’ DSS agent practically blackmailed Toretto and company to help him take down a mercenary organization run by Deckard Shaw’s brother, Owen (Luke Evans). In exchange for succeeding at this job and killing Owen, Hobbs cleared the criminal records the Toretto Team acquired two movies ago. For having this information, Hobbs is severely injured by Deckard in one of “Furious 7”’s numerous fight sequences. Toretto reassembles his crew, which includes Brian, IT guy Tej (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges), smooth-talker Roman (Tyrese) and Dominic’s partner, Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). Letty has amnesia because, previously on "The Fast and The Furious," she got blown up and was presumed dead. Though she has no memory of her former romantic life with Dominic, he holds out hope she’ll regain her memory.

Fine addtion to the Fast & Furious franchise.

Heck of a ride! BEST Furious to date great ending
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best Furious to date. This is the best one so far - great car scenes, death defying stunts, over the top villains and hot girls/cars/guys - what's not to love? This is a great guy movie - it is also a great girls night out movie, and a great date movie - it truly has something for everyone. This has everything you expect from the Furious franchise, but an even bigger focus on family. The funny thing is, after watching this, it made me think a lot of the Disney animated movie Lilo & Stitch :). I loved the addition of Kurt Russell, as well as Jason Statham, who plays pretty much the same character he always plays, just on the villain side this time. Amazing what they did with this movie from a continuity and filming perspective given the timing of the situation with Paul Walker, all I can say is wow, and there has to be some sort of award for this movie this year. The tribute at the end was extremely moving, and if you are a Paul Walker fan, you might find yourself welling up just a bit (or more). Made me think a bit about my friends as well. So go have a great time and don't miss this one! If you haven't seen the others in the franchise, make sure to see what you've missed - it helps make the story that much more interesting. But regardless, it is a heck of a ride!

Kind of cheap
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, this is not a film that you watch because it's some sort of masterpiece of cinema; It is not. It does not make very much sense from the perspectives of plot, character motivation/development, and we will not even go into physics since that idea went out the window somewhere around the third entry in the series... What this really represents is a terrific, action-packed, popcorn movie; Lots of fun, expensive cars, and a surprisingly touching tribute to the late Paul Walker. If you like the series, this is right in line, and actually one of the better titles. Probably worth 4.5/5 stars. HOWEVER, this review is also for the Best Buy Steelbook edition, which is significantly less impressive. I have become rather enamored with Steelbook cases over the years, and already had the preceding two titles in Steelbook, so this seemed an obvious winner. Unfortunately, the quality is decidedly lesser, with a flimsy, glossy metal surface. The image on the case seems alright, as if it were a dye sublimation print, but the lack of any texturing, and lack of any rigidity make it a disappointment. Same blu-ray and DVD content as other packaging (I work at a large public library, so I checked the discs). Closer to 2.5 or 3 / 5 Conclusion: Very fun film, if you like the genre. And if you care to have the steelbook, and it's on sale, great. If it's more expensive, I would say to skip it. Overall 4/5 stars.

Entertaining big budget flick
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I might be in the minority of people when I say I wasn't completely moved by the ending. I thought it was a little forced and detached, and the music video to "See You Again" was a lot more poignant. That aside, if you're a Fast and the Furious fan, this will have to be in your collection. It had an enormous budget so there are big special effects, and of course, all the names are back, with the addition of 3 people that make owning the blu-ray a requirement: Jason Statham, Tony Jaa, and Rowdy Ronda Rousey. Since the reader clearly has internet access and is not passing their days under a rock, you'll be aware of the presence these people bring to a film. At this point, it's like The Expendables with a script that wasn't composed by a third grader. There are so many action stars and special effects, but the foundation is still built on all of the characters you've grown up with for the last decade. Yeah, the series is that old. Stop reading and buy it.

Great movie and nice tribute.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I liked the movie. It was a good way of doing a few things with the franchise. It tied in how the 3rd movie in the installment fit into the actual story (if you saw the 3rd movie you would know that the characters are different and is actually in a future time). Also they showed that they are attempting to ramp up the action with each successive movie but I wonder how they can keep it up if they want to release more. I liked the tribute at the end showing the movie's version of the past for Paul Walker's character. This had little to do with the actual character (also why it is not a spoiler) but more to do with actually paying tribute to his contribution to the franchise.

Another solid entry into the Furious saga
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are a fan of old school car chase scenes, dramatic and complex stunts with no CGI this is the film for you. Starting with Fast and Furious 5, the franchise has shifted away from the street drag racing scene into a team action movie series not unlike the Expendables. Except this new direction focuses on big action stunts and car chase scenes/stunts. Number 7 in the series continues the team adventure saga. Big car stunts, good one liners (and a few corny ones) and solid performances (for an action film) cap an entertaining 2 hours. Blu ray comes with unrated directors cut with extra scenes.

Adrenaline ride
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just pure action fun. If you are a fan of the series this movie ties up all the previous 6 movies, yup including Tokyo Drift. To summarize this movie for the most part its like riding your favorite roller coaster, you leave logic at the door and have a blast. Another great thing about this movie is how they handled Paul Walker's character very classy to say the least. One nitpick I have is that I wish they end the series at 7, rumors of an 8th film (and how the ending for the bad guy was a hint) kind of ruin the overall feel. This is my second favorite movie so far this year just behind AOU.

I told myself I wouldn't cry
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What can I say? It's the Fast and the Furious. It murdered the box office and deservingly so. Full of action with really good comedy relief that worked way better than previous movies in the franchise in my opinion. What 7 also does REALLY well is reach into elements from each movie all the way to the 1st. Jason Statham was relentless. It's insanely over the top (Dominic Toretto is a super human) but balances that all out with a really good ending. The tying of this story really could've been the end of the franchise (but they're not gonna let that happen yet. Not when it's doing so good!)

Faster and More Furious
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since Fast Five, the series is as much (or more) about action as it is about cars, and the outlandish action setpieces are even more ridiculous in this film. Still, the story has really come to be about the characters, and we care about what happens to them, which is really something special. This is the lame-o Best Buy exclusive cash-grab steelbook, so although it is better than the regular cover, it isn't nearly as cool as past legitimate limited edition steelbooks (there is no artwork inside the case, either). The disc itself is great; finally, a 7.1 soundtrack in a "Furious" movie!
