I bought to record out of a cinema camera directly so I could quickly make final cut libraries, chop up the clips from church services that I need, export, and clear the drive for next service. It’s a beast.

Geek Squad in my store recommended this drive to me. My laptop began telling me my hard drive was getting full. I have over 12K photos on my computer, clouds, and back-up hard drives but most of my pictures are irreplaceable. I was left all the pictures from my grandparents, my great-grandparents and many documents related them as well. This drive can hold them all until I finish organizing and deleting duplicate photos.

This drive is good for any creative task, whether it's video editing, graphic design, photography and more. The drive comes with two cords; a double-ended USB-C and a USB-C to USB 3 for fast connections.

Solid Portable Travel SSD

This is my first portable SSD and I can say this is an impressive little package. First it is IPX67, so that makes it rugged. Dust and relatively waterproof, as well as able to withstand a 3 meter drop, this is a nice feature even if it just sits in a travel bag, or my case, velcroed to the back of my desktop (more on that in a second), it means you don't have to worry about it. Additionally the G-Drive comes with a five year warranty. That's nice they have faith in product to support it that long when other drives are lucky to get 3 years usually.
Setup is a bit tricky for two reasons. While they do include two connectors for USB C and regular USB the cords are short. 3 inches, if that short. So if you are like me and wanted to use it with a desktop, either you'll need a new cable or end up velcroing the drive to the back of your computers to connect it. The other issue is if you aren't on a MAC you will need to reformat the device, or install a driver to read MAC Formatted drives since they use the native MAC format and nothing something cross platform like exFAT. Reformatting to native NTFS wasn't a large issue for me, but I believe they have some support pages on reformatting if you aren't sure on how to do it, just note if you are getting this to use on a Windows device, it will require this step.
However once I had it reformatted and plugged into my standard 5Gbps USB 3.0 port I ran a speed test and I was impressed. Normally over USB 3.0 I'm happy if I can transfer at 100MB to 120MB a second from my internal SSD to an external HDD. This drive ran at a steady 325MB copying a 10GB of various files from large to small. It kept the speed steady with no drops in copying. This is fast enough that I can use this external drive and treat it like an internal drive and have my Virtual machines run off them without issue. I'm sure on a USB 3.1 with more bandwidth I'd have gotten a better transfer, but like I said this performance on USB 3.0 is good enough that for me, it acts like an internal drive and I don't notice any issues since I have started hosting my VM's on it.
I am very impressed with the drive and package. Its light, small and strong, and has the speed that I need. If you are looking for a SSD and don't mind a little work to get it working on a Windows PC, or have a MAC, this is a decent choice in a great sleek package.

Very simple ... it works right out of the box. Good sale price, so it's nice to be able to get a 500GB device when I really don't need a massive amount of storage.

Great little portable drive. SSD is definitely the way to go with portable storage these days. Prices have come way down (as long as you stick to 500gb or less) and the smaller size is great.
This particular SSD by G-Tech feels solid as a rock and is super fast. I like the fact that both a usb-c to usb-c and a usb-c to usb cord included. This drive is just a little bigger than similar SSD's from the competitors. However, it feels like it is much better made.
Honestly, there are really only two big things to be concerned about with a small drive. Speed and durability and this drive wins big on both fronts!

I use this with my 2017 MacBook pro, and it is blazing fast. I copied 30 gigabytes of 4k video from my hard drive to this ssd, and it only took a couple minutes. TOTALLY worth it.

Had to reformat to use with windows. It won't see it otherwise. No printed instruction for this, you have to go to their website for that. Kind of strange since it's formatted for macs. Maybe they'll come out with a windows version so we won't have to do this? The online instructions are fairly straightforward but didn't quite match my menus exactly. Not a big deal if you're fairly confident doing this sort of thing. Be careful though and follow them or you could format your system drive accidently. Oops.
It's fast so reformatting doesn't take long. Not sure why they seem to be supporting apple more than windows. I don't personally know any mac users but there are probably a few out there?
Once I formatted it worked fine and added fast external storage of 500G to my laptop. Actually a bit less since no drives I have seen give the full amount as available but still a lot of space and fast. I copied most of my music collection from a flashdrive to test it and it performed well. The files only made a small dent in the space available so lots of room for more. Did I mention it's fast?
Comes with two short cables one for standard usb and one for usb-c connection so you should be covered. Not big but certainly bigger than flashdrives which sometimes seem too small and easier to misplace. Also claims to be durable with dust and moisture protection. I don't think I would dunk it in water to test though. The drive end is usb-c.
I like it. Get one if you want portable storage.
