I needed a separate drive for my computer at work, as I was told i was hogging server space. I had a choice between this and a 4TB WD drive. I asked the guys at the store, and they recommended this as more dependable. I really didn't need 4TB either. The only two issues I have had so far are 1) When I connected it to my Asus Win 10 desktop unit, the puter acted like all all the resources were being used. HIGHLY buggy and verrrrryyyy slow response. I had it plugged into a USB 2 port. I tried a UBS1 and the slow response was cured, but no drive letter was assigned. Same thing happened with my laptop. I took it back and the Geek Squad did something, and now it's visible in Win Explorer. However, I still cannot use it on the USB 2 port. 2) I wasn't terribly happy with greatly dumbed down directions for use, or the similar on the website. I realize this is what manufacturers feel they have to do with the new millennial market, but it's rather frustrating to an old guy like me who is used to actually reading and implementing detailed instructions and trouble shooting flow charts, as opposed to 5 picture-grams worth of installation instructions and 10 FAQ responses on the manufacturer's support page. Other than these two complaints, the unit seems to be doing what it's supposed to. I would recommend it, but with qualifications based on the technology abilities of the end user, and only due to my perceived lack of detailed manufacturer support.

Bought this hard drive for my son in college . This is the second one I purchased in a yr as his other one crashed . He really likes the hard drive as it has enough storage for his film class and it’s easy to use . So far this one is working great - the 3 stars are because the previous one only lasted a year.

I don't recommend these drives they're very prone to failing in my experience. They require more software to run in windows. In mac os they run even more poorly. CS seems to want to take their time fixing an issue. Save your money and look elsewhere.

Maybe we just got a lemon, but we could get no computer to recognize the device to allow for storage. We tried Apples and Dells, laptops and desktops, but none could recognize the device.

Even thought this product works fine, it takes a long while to be detected by the latest model MBP. I’m pretty sure this device will give up sometime soon.
