Invest in Better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I think I got the dud because it just doesn't work from the setup. Make sure you get some sort of warranty or protection or else you're stuck with a very expensive desk ornament.

not compatible with Windows 10
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used the "Geek Squad to transfer data from my broken data storage to the G Technology G-Drive USB 4Tb. The Greek Squad was unable to find the "set-up" drivers or downloads to use the G-Drive

Great Drive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have recently bought a new 27 Inch iMac, i was using mac version WD Fire wire drive for almost 8 years on old iMac, it had saved me many times restoring data, now it is time to get a new drive for time machine backup, i have never used this brand before, it has good reputation for faster drive as i read online. i paid almost double the price as compared to similar size drive by Seagate and WD. quality and construction wise this looks top notch. my old WD book edition was also very nice looking with LCD display so keeping in tridition i picks nice looking and fast BU drive. I did first Time machine backup, 400 GB took aprox an hour, it was slow at first showing 4 hours to complete BU, but competed in an hour. i am using USB C port on iMac, it comes with usb to USB-A cable also, so it can be used on other macs also. time will tell how long it last.

Great for Mac-easy to use with great built/quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very tech savy, this model is mac compatible, 3.0 and the drive comes with its own power source and fan. This is huge as it does not drain my own battery, fast transfer of data, and I don't have to worry about the driver getting too hot. I constantly transfer around 8G.B of data at a time and it takes a couple of minutes max. I make and edit videos and this external drive is awesome. I didn't get the thunderbolt model because that's pointless because everyone has usb, and not everyone has a thunderbolt slot. Great so far, and haven't had a problem, it has a power button feature as well that I like and very mac friendly, no software needed to use, plug and play as i would call it.

A very good and pretty HD - Great for Mac!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second G-Technology HD and one more time no problems with it. I had to transfer about 400gb to it and it went faster than i expected and you can also make automatic backups from your mac with Time Machine. A must have for Mac users

Not A Life Time Supply
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this because they said it would last me a lifetime. Didn't even have close to .5 TB on it. Just sat and on my desk and downloaded once a year to it. So 5 downloads and it crapped out. Had to take it to another computer place to try to get my stuff off of it. 5+ years of banking and photos, all gone.

HORRIBLE DO NOT BUY
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this thinking it would be top notch for the expensive price of 150, and it is absolutely bad in every way. It makes a horrible loud noise and you have to plug it into the wall while faster drives can be plugged straight into the computer! It is slow and takes time to load up and it is so bulky and weighs a ton. Could not have made a worse external drive.

Power died after 3 years so backups worthless
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good while it lasted but died after 3 years. G-Drive not power up anymore. The warranty just ended so the company won’t replace or repair. What is most lost though are the 3 years of backups. Asking Best Buy about data recovery and hoping for the best. Lesson learned: buy a raid system for redundancy.
