Does the job but poor packaging means it arrived with multiple scratches and poor design means the protective coating has a lot of air bubbles and comes completely away on the air vents.

The visual style and design of this microwave is fantastic. The button sets and rotary dial add nice accents to what looks like something pulled straight out of the mid-1960s. The pull bar for opening the microwave door is a nice touch as well; push-button release latches invariably stick over time, and users won't have that problem with this model. This little unit is excellent for an apartment or small kitchen, or for those really gunning for a retro aesthetic, but people with large families should note that the wattage is only 700 and this unit will not be able to cook items as quickly as a slightly larger 1100 or 1300 watt model. I expected a compact microwave's reduced cooking power, but even compared to rival small microwaves it seems as though you need to factor in an additional ten or twenty seconds to expected cook time in order to get the same level of heating. The microwave isn't underpowered, but does seem to need an extra push in cooking time to match other model of similar wattage. Nothing that would make you want to return it, but prospective buyers should be aware. The feature set is also somewhat more limited on this model. Since a rotary dial replaces the standard touchpad, there are no options for things like "popcorn" or "potato". The rotary dial allows enough precision in cook time settings, but it does beep every time you cycle through a ten-second interval. There are defrost and preset start time options, and you can adjust the power level for delicate cooking jobs, but given the somewhat constrained performance you probably shouldn't reduce it all if you can avoid it. The device is a nice size and actually takes up less space than other compact microwaves. If what you need is something that's visually impressive, and can accept the limitations that come with a compact microwave, you'll like this device. If you're a serious cook, you'll miss the more robust features on other models, but why would you be using a 700 watt microwave in the first place?

Just what I was looking for. A small counter-top size microwave to handle the re-heating of food items for the office. Small footprint, but surprisingly large interior. Comes with a glass plate and rolling trivet turn table with bearings for smooth operation, to rotate the food during cooking/heating operation. I love the retro look and the Hot Rod Red finish, as well as the simple retro look dials. Works just as I wanted; quick, efficient; easy clean-up. Would recommend to users looking for warm-up microwave.

I think that making products easy to use is not always easy and this brand has done an excellent job of making this retro microwave. There are just a few buttons with some pre-program time of cooking, but the really retro and cool thing is the knob that it can be turned to select the exact time you want your food to be cooked. The design is beautiful, I got it in red color, it looks amazing. The size is small but the microwave works excellent. I would definitely recommend this retro microwave ;)

    Retro microwave for retro lovers

Retro theme microwave for retro lover! If you like these classic look you guys might like galanz retro microwave, simplistic and it’s small it’s good for apartments or if you happen to own an Airbnb and have retro theme I think this product would go really well. Pros - it’s small for smaller apartments or shops - the retro design is great looking at it it definitely feels retro - the dial design and press to start was nice - shutting the door is solid, does not feel cheap Cons - the retro design is good but i feel like it might also be hard to match (currently have the Red color) unless you get the black version - the middle buttons has a great feeling when you press it but the frame of the buttons moves around which kinda bothered me, not sure if it’s gonna get loose eventually as time of used - I wish the timer dial has a more distinct sounds and feel to it, to understand that you’re turning it into longer time - the timer can only be set every tent of a second, was hoping I can choose 5 sec but I can only set it to 10,20,30sec etc. overall I think it’s a decent product, and it’s not that expensive and I belive for what you’re paying for you do get your money worth. being retro resi is a plus so i don’t see why someone doesn’t like retro would buy one.

For those who want some flare in their appliances

Microwave ovens are pretty much a commodity nowadays. In fact, they are now utilitarian. You have two main designs one being an over-the-top design also acting as an exhaust to your stove and the other being the ubiquitous counter-top model. And quite often, their designs are very drab. But not so much did the Galanz microwave oven. The Galanz microwave oven though still utilitarian, comes in three hip colors namely Vinyl Black, Bebop Blue and Hot Rod Red a step in the usual white or occasionally black or stainless steel design of most microwave ovens out there. (I have the Hot Rod Red model.) Aside from that, the Galanz has a very sixties themed design for their ovens. So these in essence are the unique selling points of the Galanz microwave ovens. Function wise, the Galanz microwave oven features a 700-watt power outage. Standard power controls via tuning knob. It has a clock and a timer. A defrost feature and pre-set cooking times. Since the design is not digital (save the clock), usage is not necessarily intuitive and obviously requires reading the manual. The rotating dish is only 9.7 inches in diameter. So who is this for? People living in small residences or people who have a spare room that would require a second oven would be the market for this. This definitely is not for large families but it goes without saying that it can’t do the job. Upon initial use, I found the microwave to be quite capable. But this microwave is definitely for people who would put more on style over function. So if you’re the type who’d one some flare on your kitchen appliances, I’d recommend this oven. But given the smaller size and power output and the price point, I’d just nick one star off this one. Still a recommended buy for those who want to indulge.

This little microwave looks great. Perfect for an apartment or dorm. Fits perfectly in our media/game room. Controls are simple and easy to use. Just push the rotary know for 30 sec increments of cook time. Or rotate the knob for "precise" time adjustments, like the old days ;) Also has preset buttons. Really does give off a nice nostalgic vibe. It's small, but does what it needs to. And the red is flashy. I bet the baby blue is nice too. But for those not into the flashy colors. You always have black.

    Good looking Microwave that works

The Galanz Retro microwave does it's job. The color was uniform and smooth all around and looks nice. The styling is retro looking and stands out more than a regular square microwave. The control panel consists of three parts. A dial you can turn on the bottom, a pad like panel, and a display on the top. The display shows the time, cook time, weight, and other features in use. The pad gives you quick access to features such as power, clock setting, defrost, and pause/cancel. The dial is where you start cooking. Pushing it in quick starts the device at 30 seconds a push. Starting with turning the dial to the right increments the time in 10 second intervals to what you want. You can't set any time in between the 10 second intervals. Starting with turning the dial to the left enters the preset modes. When you turn to the left you get codes A-1 through A-6, presets for different food types like pizza, frozen meals, or beverages for instance. When you turn the dial a symbol for the selection shows up on the bottom of the display for only 3 of the presets. If you select A-6 for instance, nothing indicating what A-6 is for is displayed. So, you need to know what some of the presets are from memory. The microwave cooked fine, as good as any small .7cu ft microwave I've had, and is about the same size as others. Clean out before using it, it had a slight new smell that was easy to remove with a damp soapy sponge. Overall, it does the job and looks different doing it.

This microwave looks very cute in my small studio. If you're looking for something that heats up your food fast, this is not it. This microwave takes forever to warm up food. You have to use double the time you normally would.

Daughter has been using this now for a while and she has been very happy. For the quick meals she usually does she says it works just fine. Her only "issue" which really isn't a huge issue, is she was used to the microwave from home which was a larger one so she wasn't used to the slower cook times it took. She's more happy with the color than anything I think as we did receive the red and not the black.. :) Easy to use and we personally love the retro look a lot. Simpler times it brings to memory.. which is great in these crazy days.

The Galanz, is a microwave, albeit, it appears to rely on the throwback look as its appeal. It's small inside so don't expect to cook or defrost anything larger than a full bag of popcorn. And at 700W it will take more time of course than the full size model. Also a quirk that I found annoying is that the cord is very short and instead of it being on the lower corner, it's high up on the left side corner. The retro look is cute, but for me it isn't a selling point. This is a good dorm or basement micro wave or for one who is limited in space, I am the later. I have an air fryer, George Foreman grill and of course a stove so this is just a quick tool to heat up or defrost foods. So it fits my needs perfectly. I would only recommend to a friend if they fell into the above 3 categories.
