Purchased season one for the great price of $9.99. The major problem was that the Blu-ray case was damaged and the plastic that holds the cover was torn from the spine. Seemed like it had been returned to the manufacturer, who just repacked and shipped to Best Buy. At first glance, the Blu-ray looked good in its' outer sleeve, but it was deceiving. My advice is to open Blu-ray as soon as you get home and check that it is not broken. Luckily, the discs were unharmed and the digital copy worked. The only reason I give it 3 stars is that season one of Game of Thrones is excellent.

I would recommend only getting it if you have Dolby Vision. Otherwise it’s not worth it. Resolution is about the same as the blu ray version. Note that it is upscaled 4K, not native. So they could only improve so much. Where it really shines is with HDR Dolby Vision. It’s not going to WOW you, or I have yet to see a wow moment. I’ve only seen the first episode to help out people decide if they need to upgrade or not. But it does provide a slightly better image. I was cycling through the 4K and blu Ray version on my oled and like I mentioned before the 4K version is only slightly better, and it had almost entirely to do with Dolby vision. Also if you bought the original blu Ray set it lacks Atmos support. This 4k set contains the same atmos track as the second blu ray release, so if you don’t have atmos on your old blu ray that is another reason to upgrade. Overall I’m a little dissapointed, but I’m glad that they are giving us the best picture quality they have. The later seasons were recorded at a higher resolution so i have hope that it will get better. I’m a huge fan and will buy these the moment they come out. I just hope the changes are more noticeable next time.

Do not buy the 4K, I have all the seasons on Blu-ray and the 4K season one did not look any better

I am a big fantasy novel fan, although I have not read Game of Thrones, only watched season 1 of the HBO series. I think this is also the first miniseries I've ever watched. Overall rating is average. Cinematography is great. Acting is very solid. Plot keeps you interested. Entertaining enough for me to want to know what happens next, but not much more. The main problem with game of thrones, for me, is that all the characters are extremely annoying. They're all pretty dysfunctional and make stupid decisions that ends up getting themselves and/or their family/friends killed. It gets to a point where I don't really care what happens to the characters anymore. The main reason I would watch season 2 is in the hopes that some more of the characters die because they are so annoying. Aside from that I think it's a nice production and well acted. I guess they have to be good actors for me to get this worked up!

Sound improvement more apparent than video resolution, in fact couldn't discern noteworthy improvement. Seasons 2 and up are reported to be shot in higher resolution source material most benefitting 4K display resolution . I'm a big GOT fan so any improvement was welcome. Many titles advertised as 4K don't have source material that make it possible to see the full benefit of 4K resolution on top quality displays, especially if it was recorded as digital source material. There are some websites you can reference for a detailed explanation and listing of known real or fake 4K UHD discs/sources.

Show's great, but it crams 4 discs inside when the season only has 10 episodes. Two of the discs only have ONE episode in it, and they're almost completely blank discs. The special features, etc. don't justify such an inconvenient packing method, making a binge day on the show not even worth it when you're inconsistently swapping discs. For the retail price, it's not really worth it, but when it's on sale, it's a good buy for your collection.

5 seasons of when the show was great. Shame what they did in seasons 7 and 8 to this glorious show. Now I can barely watch it anymore! Recommended because this is how you get the best seasons. 6 is good, but 7 and 8 are rough.

To be blunt, this show isn't for everyone. I personally found it hard to follow and a little too edgy. But, it's obviouls a very popular show so it's worth a try. I just wish it was a little cheaper. DVDs worked great and the packaging was awesome. My husband however loved it, so looks like we will be buying season 2.

This is actually the standard blu-ray version in the standard blue plastic case. A "boxed set" implies a larger cardboard box holding a foldout case or something similar with the discs in that. This is not that. It was, however, Season 1 at a reasonable cost. So it does meet the criteria for a decent review.

Game of thrones 5 stars UHD pretty good but Atmos effects hardly noticeable.Save your money if you’re only buying this for Atmos as I did. You can watch all episodes in Dolby Digital on HBO GO.

Purchased the whole set for great deal , however quite haven't finished the whole series. Barely got through the first couple of episodes. Starts out really slow.

Great buy if you have not purchased previous release of this set, has all same features, only new feature is the sound but how many people have this sound system to use it. Only good features are the steel book look an design.

Starts off slow and you have to pay really close attention or else you miss out. Other then that it's good! About to buy 2nd season they say it's better!?!?!

First time I watched this one and thought it moved thru the story too slow for my liking. More of MY PREFERANCE than a good or bad situation.

This movie has lots of savagery and not much storyline, so far. But qualifies for entertainment when nothing else is on TV.

did not live up to the hype, good but not unbelievable like the hype suggested.
