I was on the fence, but after watching the show; you literally get hooked.

One of the best seasons of one of the best shows. Looks great in HDR.

I already had the slim season 1 box set before, but after watching the series almost to the end of season 6, I just HAD to go back to get the ORIGINAL season 1 box set to match the rest of the collection I have. I gave the slim copy to my brother, which he hasn't started on it yet, because if he had, he would've called me and told me how great he thinks it is. (Thats just something we do.) If you ever get started watching the series and you get to the end of the first episode, you WILL be hooked. Its usually around 10 episodes per season, but once you get into it, you'll wish it were more. It's that good!! Its DEFINITELY not for kids to watch though. You'll learn why I say that within the first episode. ...If you love 'Vikings' on the the History channel, and 'Black Sails' on Starz, then this series will be up your alley. And by the way, both of those shows I just mentioned are on blu-ray and dvd box sets, if you were thinking about checking them out.

One of the best shows I have ever watched! Awesome characters!

Purchased season one for the great price of $9.99. The major problem was that the Blu-ray case was damaged and the plastic that holds the cover was torn from the spine. Seemed like it had been returned to the manufacturer, who just repacked and shipped to Best Buy. At first glance, the Blu-ray looked good in its' outer sleeve, but it was deceiving. My advice is to open Blu-ray as soon as you get home and check that it is not broken. Luckily, the discs were unharmed and the digital copy worked. The only reason I give it 3 stars is that season one of Game of Thrones is excellent.

Game of thrones is definitely something to have in your collection

I've read the books (George R.R. Martin "Song of Ice and Fire" series which currently consists of five books with a sixth coming), which I think are very, very good, so I was curious about the series. I don't have HBO, so when I saw the first season on sale at Best Buy, I decided to check it out. The casting is excellent (the actor who plays Tyrion is particularly good), and the atmosphere, sets, and characters are true to the books with a few minor exceptions that I've seen so far. The script adaptation from the books is very good. There are some gratuitous scenes (which are not in the books) with full-frontal nudity, so this series is NOT for children. With that caveat, this is an excellent, very well done, enjoyable series for adults. I think I will have to get the other DVD's! Of necessity, scenes and characters from the books have been left out of the TV series, so I would recommend reading the books to get the full experience of the world Martin created.

Started the series and I am loving it! Plan to buy the next seasons.
