I would recommend only getting it if you have Dolby Vision. Otherwise it’s not worth it. Resolution is about the same as the blu ray version. Note that it is upscaled 4K, not native. So they could only improve so much. Where it really shines is with HDR Dolby Vision. It’s not going to WOW you, or I have yet to see a wow moment. I’ve only seen the first episode to help out people decide if they need to upgrade or not. But it does provide a slightly better image. I was cycling through the 4K and blu Ray version on my oled and like I mentioned before the 4K version is only slightly better, and it had almost entirely to do with Dolby vision. Also if you bought the original blu Ray set it lacks Atmos support. This 4k set contains the same atmos track as the second blu ray release, so if you don’t have atmos on your old blu ray that is another reason to upgrade. Overall I’m a little dissapointed, but I’m glad that they are giving us the best picture quality they have. The later seasons were recorded at a higher resolution so i have hope that it will get better. I’m a huge fan and will buy these the moment they come out. I just hope the changes are more noticeable next time.

Anyone interested in this purchase has most likely been just like me. Not originally interested, heard the hype, had friends who said I would love this, finally gave in but with high hopes. And I gotta say I'm not disappointed at all. I'm hooked. What a great first season! That being said, purchasing the Blue Ray DVD with hopes of a great DVD extra bonus is anticlimatic. The majority of "extras" are nothing more then tiny written text in old english. I had to move close to the TV to even be able to read the words. The order in which the extras are told are in no logical sequence whatsoever and only confused me. I'm very disappointed in "the hype" given to buying the DVD. Nothing special at all. But the show itself? Totally Awesome! !

My husband bought this video because he doesnt like watching the Golden Girls all the time. I think he doesnt like it because they are so hilarious, getting into trouble with all of their shenanigans. Despite telling him that they are very relatable with the silly lives they live, he insisted on finding something new to watch. I sat in the car for 30 minutes waiting for him to come back. And when he came into the car, he showed me this dvd. I wasnt really happy with his choice, seeing how dark the box cover looked but after watching the first episode, you can say that it rocked my socks!

Every fan of the GOT series should own this 4k complete series collection! Sure, season 8 was a huge disappointment but outside of that, you have 7 phenomenal seasons to rewatch and treasure. The sheer details in this 4k collection are like watching these episodes again for the first time. The surround sound is also tons better than streaming or when they aired on HBO.

HBO has out done themself with the beginning of this series. The story line is good, the acting is great, and the fx are not bad.

Over the years, I heard time and time again from friends and co-workers that "Game of Thrones" was one show I shouldn't miss. Sadly, I did, until a friend of mine let me borrow the first season on DVD, and I set aside a whole day when I was off to binge the entire first season. By the end I was hooked but life and other things got in the way so I missed out on continuing on with the seasons. So, a few years later and wiser, I finally bought the first season (ON BLU-RAY) for myself and so far it feels so good to begin again and jump in to Westeros. Also, with the added bonuses of commentary and bios, I want(ed) to be sure I learned all I could.

This is the first season of an exciting series involving Arthurian legend, Machiavellian drama, love, family, and friendship.

For those that would like to start from the beginning of Game of Thrones, this entire 1st Season is a great starting point.

I don't have HBO as a part of my tv subscription, but I was seeing all of the hype about this series, so I signed up for HBO Now/Go for a free month trial. I watched through all of the seasons of Game of Thrones during the trial. All seasons are all really good. They are definitely adult only, but they have a story line that pulls you in and you can't wait to see what happens next. I'm glad I didn't have to wait for a week between episodes. I bought the BluRay sets so i can own them, and also for the special features. I may have to get HBO for a month when season 7 starts. I have preordered season 6 which comes out on BluRay in November.

Although Season 1 was primarily shot in 2K (with a few scenes in 35mm film) there is definitely a video quality upgrade from the standard 1080p Blu-Ray version. Everything looks a little bit sharper, more detailed, whether it's due to good upscaling to 4K or perhaps the old Blu-Ray transfer had more compression that obscured detail, who knows. Also HDR is judiciously applied, it's not overbearing but it definitely adds to the overall picture quality. The Dolby Atmos soundtrack (if you have an Atmos setup) is a marked improvement over the original Blu-Ray as well.

My brother tells me how he can't wait for the next season to start. I decided to see what the excitement was all about.

Show is great, 4K discs look excellent. But a heads up on the included digital copies: they are only standard HD, not 4K.

Excellent series! But why buy the Blu-Ray series when you can watch it on HBO all day long? I'll tell you why. This entire series one is encoded with Dolby Atmos! The sound quality is phenomenal compared to HBO! Something else I discovered is, not all of the Game Of Thrones seasons are in Dolby Atmos. Most of them are encoded in DTS-HD Master Audio which also sounds great! Why some are in Dolby Atmos and others in DTS-HD is puzzling...... Why not stick with the same audio format throughout all episodes? At any rate this is an amazing series and I've watched it more than once to say the least.....

This is a saga worth buying the hard copy. (The way digital copies work, you only have the right to watch, but the provider could take it away at there will). This saga had a lot of crazy twist and OMG scenes. In most show you can tell who will be the "Hero" or live to the end but this saga had me guessing all the way to the end of session one.

I bought (GOT) 1ST Season to see what the hype was and I loved it so much that my husband surprised me with Season 2 for my birthday now I'm sitting at home going insane waiting for the release of season 3. If Best Buy could shoot me an Email or even better a text when season 3 is available I would be in Vahala If you have not watched Game of Thrones youu are missing out on the best series since "FRIENDS" Now Game of Thrones is the only show that I talk about with my friends get the seasons so you can see all the extras that you miss with HBO plus you can watch it all in 1 day using your Dennon System only at Best Buy.

This is the same as the previous blu-ray release, 5 disc, but without any physical extras. It comes in a 5 disc blu-ray case that is just slightly thinker than a standard blur-ray case. This is a plus for anyone trying to save room or anyone who dislikes digi-paks. (digi-paks are cardboard foldout cases that typically hold 1 disc per panel.) If you are a fan who only cares about content or are interested to see what its about, it is a good buy. I bought this when it first came out on sale for a great price ~$20. Hopefully each season will get this slimmed down treatment. Keep an eye out.

I like the game of thrones, this is the whole first season! Glad to have it on standard dvd

Game of thrones in 4k looks like a new show. I watched the majority of the program in 720p for the all the years it aired. This 4k version is absolutely stunning. The bright colors from south in kings landing, to the bright glacier whites at Castle Black in the north. The 4k HDR Dolby Vision Combo brings new life to the worlds most watched Television series. Absolutely must buy for GoT fans. Here's hoping seasons 2-7 are converted soon.

The Collectors’ Steelbook for Season One features Winterfell. The box art includes objects associated with this location set against a dark olive-green metallic background. Those objects include a weirwood tree that appears to be growing out of the case’s back cover and the direwolf sigil of House Stark. The direwolf sigil magnet that comes with Season 1 is about two inches across and has a small round magnet on the backside. Unfortunately, the magnet is not strong enough to allow the sigil to stay attached to the steelbook’s cover. Otherwise, a great buy!!!
