Great movie. solid plot. definitely worth watching.

Picture is a four star upgrade from dvd or the old super bit dvd. Audio as well.

It started off slow and I didn't know where they were going with it. It got a little interesting later in the movie, but it didn't captive my attention. would not recommend to any one.

I had high hopes for this film based on the description, but it was pretty boring from start to finish...

"Gattaca" was originally released in 1997 with very little publicity, but instantly collected a dedicated fanbase. Today, two decades later, the growing fanbase of this science fiction drama has dubbed it one of the most creative and unique perspectives on the future, and they're right. Director Andrew Niccol paints the picture of a future where humans are valued for little more than their DNA structures. Prospective employees must give blood samples as part of their initial interview process, allowing employers to unfairly discriminate against applicants with undesireable DNA structures (poor health, balding, heart problems, etc.). Into this picture Niccol paints Vincent, an underdog "degenerate" who will do whatever it takes to achieve his dream job: working at Gattaca Aerospace Center and flying into outter space. As the story unfolds, the audience sees just how far Vincent is willing to go to make his dreams a reality, and the consequences that arise from his actions. "Gattaca" entices its audience with an interesting storyline, and then delivers throughout the rest of the film with beautiful cinematography, well-rounded characters, and plot twists that make for an overall incredible expereince.

I watched this movie after I had read 1984 and Brave New World last year and so was expecting the brilliant future robotic utopia theme to be brought to life through motion pictures. It was not as great as I expected, as I felt the theme was just redundant and played out low-key. But thinking about this, I think that was part of the idea of the movie. To show how dull life would be if everyone was to be just like robots doing designated duties day in day out without any creativity. It was still a good movie, nevertheless. I was introduced to Ethan Hawke, an actor I like very much now. Jude Law is just great in classy roles as is Uma Thurman. Famous faces set up the expertise and class in this movie. 4 stars because I like the ideas, cause you to think, but I felt it should have been made in a more exciting manner. I'll admit to almost dozing off a few times.
