Posted .Hello Domm - thank you for providing a review of your microwave. We're sorry to hear that it is taking a while to heat your food and that the plastic is coming off the control panel. This unit has 700 watts of power so it should heat quickly. Also, many microwaves are now packed with a plastic film applied to the outside of the door and control panel. This is similar to the film that would cover chrome trim parts to prevent scratching during shipping and is used for the same reason on the microwave. Remove the film before using the microwave. This is a static cling film that should peel off easily. If it is not the static cling plastic that peels off easily, then we recommend to exercise your one year warranty if it is still applicable and return the unit with your receipt for exchange. Should have returned it right away when we found that the print on the black buttons was hard to see. But didn’t (my fault). Then it turned out the buttons were too hard to work. Now, they don’t work at all. She’s only had it 8 months. It’s crap. I will try to get my money back. Purchased the two-year Geek guarantee. Don’t buy this piece of ill-designed junk!

takes more watts than advertised

Even on the microwave itself, there is a sticker which says 700watts. But when plug into the meter to check, it takes about 900 to 1000 watts. Seems incorrect advertisement. I purchased this to save money on electric bill but it seems to be a false advertisement.

Good budget microwave
