I was very excited to purchase the GE Convection Countertop Microwave w/Air Fry, but I had to return it after bringing the device to my home. The reason I had to bring it back was that it was quite a bit larger than I had expected when placed where my old microwave (which died) was placed.

My 37 year old microwave finally gave up the ghost. Lots of new features to learn here.......like what is an Air Fryer............give me some time. Cost actually lower than one from 37 yrs ago. LOL

Our retired microwave heated items to desired levels without question or fuss. It simply got too old and needed to retire. The replacement is younger, fresher and quite eager to please. However, it sort of over pleases by heating items far too quickly. The old microwave was 950 watts and the new microwave is 1050 watts, 100 watts more than the retired microwave. It’s likely a matter of adjusting the time in preparation of familiar items and not the fault of the new microwave. So, adjust we must. Adjust we will.
We are glad to assist with the operation of your new microwave. The cooking wattages on older microwaves was lower than on microwaves produced today. This means an older microwave will take a little longer to heat foods compared to your new model. Please see the manual starting with page 8 for this model by visiting the product page, clicking on the “Features” tab and navigating to the “Manuals & Guides” section.

General Electric has been making appliances since 1907, so you would think that printing a comprehensive manual would have been something they would have figured about about 100 years ago. You would be wrong. The manual does not even cover what every button does. It skips over major functions. Want to know how the convection or air fryer features work? You should try Reddit because neither is mentioned in the manual. And if you want to see the text on the buttons, a lighted magnifier will help loads. Forget about seeing it in a dim or dark kitchen. The keys are not backlit. I'm considering keeping a flashlight near the oven so I can see what I am doing. The product is okay, but not great. Only reason I'm not returning it is because it is very heavy and I live in a walkup. GE knows better (or should) and these problems should not exist. It is hard to get to functionality when you don't even know how to use it.
Your feedback is extremely important to us. We will pass these comments regarding the Owner's Manual information and the control panel along to our product team to review.

I got this microwave to replace my Samsung one. Good, powerful, and easy to use. Door works well. Samsung one would only open half the time.

Are microwave was going out so I've seen this and now not only did I get a new microwave but also a counter-top convection and air fryer it freed up a lot of counter space

I haven't used the convection or air fry feature(s) yet, but this is a fairly powerful microwave (1050W), fits in the space where my 18 year old one sat (it's a tiny bit smaller), and is very quiet. I like the Express feature (just push a number, say 1, you get 1 minute at full power, 2 you get 2 minutes, and so on), the Add 30 Seconds button, and the fact that it's very quiet. Bad points are no backlight, you have to press Start/Pause to pause (Cancel doesn't stop the microwave when something is spitting or boiling over!), and the button to open the door requires a fair amount of pressure to open. At least the Child Lock can easily be disabled.

Got rid of a microwave, air fryer and barely use my over cause this thing does it all. Im not cooking for a large family so its great for couples or individuals. Makes small living situations that much better

The GE 1.0 cu ft convection countertop microwave is a great microwave in a small footprint. It is smaller in overall dimensions but still has a 13 inch rotating glass plate inside so it takes up less countertop space. It is very simple to operate with a few quick-cook button selections available. It has the child lock option to prevent a child from opening the door and touching a hot plate of food, but that can be turned off if no child in the house. I would have gave it a 5 star rating, but the one thing that would make it 5 stars would be to have the keypad display lighted. It is a bit hard to read without it being a backlit display especially for older individuals.

Highly recommend this microwave! During the summer, it’s nice to have an alternative to using an oven for baking smaller items and reheating leftovers that need to be crisped back up. The air fry function also works great and the included tray fits more than you’d expect. You can heat up a whole bag of Trader Joe’s orange chicken, no problem! Overall, I’d say definitely worth the money.

seems good so far! my only complaint is that it doesn’t come with a manual and it’s relatively complicated between the separate functions it would be nice if it had one in the box to refer to

Takes a little getting used to, but amazing when learned. Would be 5 star but the settings panel is hard to read. Wish there was a light up button for it. I've tried nearly all the functions... perfect for vegies, air fry, combi cook. Initially, overcooked many dishes but on 2nd try w/shortened time, changing setting or lower power, was fine.

Very good microwave. Have used this for a few weeks now and the air frying and convection bake features work great. Nice safety feature that locks the microwave requiring multiple taps to open when the microwave sensss high tempatures. Would recommend.
