The old one was bigger than we needed (we are now empty nesters) and we also are upgrading all our appliances to stainless steel. So this new GE fits perfectly, works exceptionally well (faster than our old GE). Our only peev is that it is so light, the microwave slides a bit on the counter when you push the door open button. So an improvement would be 'stickier' or larger feet on it's base to prevent this. Otherwise, the microwave is perfect for our needs.
