After about a year I noticed the carousel was starting to chip the paint on the base and shortly after that the "roof" of the inside unit was starting to brown and flake. The last microwave I purchased was a Sharp cube and it lasted me 20 years so I didn't expect this one to die so suddenly. As of 8/31/2021 my GE microwave is making a loud humming noise and a piece of the top about the size of a playing card came off in my hand. Unfortunately I did not get the extended warranty, and I will not be buying this model again.

The clinking sound that you are experiencing is considered a normal operating sound, and we advise taking advantage of your limited warranty. Your warranty details are located at the end of your Owner's Manual. You can view the Owner's Manual by clicking the ‘From the Manufacturer’ tab and scrolling all the way down on the page, you will see a link that says Use and Care Manual.
