After that when it was plugged in it would turn on by itself and if I wanted to heat something up it would randomly turn off. This happened consistently for week. I decided to return it to best buy and purchase and LG. I did notice a lot of open box microwaves for sale of this exact model so I do not know if this is a wide spread issue.

My first thought as I started to use the microwave is that surely I can't return a microwave because of the noise (which was headache inducing). But after 24 hours, I decided that I could return it for the noise. My next microwave will not be a GE.

Maybe I just got a broken one, but I'm definitely buying a different brand next time. The parts that work work well, though!

The buttons are slightly sensitive and I did find myself in a weird mode with no exit once, but that was likely user error. Again, simple and basic machine.

If the microwave isn’t working at all, you may want to check the fuse or circuit breaker to ensure there’s no issue, and/or try disconnecting it from power for a couple of minutes before reconnecting; this resets the electrical components and can often resolve an issue. If it may be helpful, more troubleshooting tips are available on page 14 of the manual; that can be viewed on our GE Appliances website when you look up the model number and go to the product’s page. If you think you need to take advantage of the warranty, information on that is available on page 15. If you have difficulty taking advantage of the warranty, you’re also welcome to send us a private message over our GE Appliances social media (such as Instagram or Facebook) with a copy of this review and your contact information.
