I believe that the sound is coming from the turntable motor. I am returning this product before it's out of it's return period and warranty period and purchasing another microwave.

The preset buttons are too dark and it's hard to see without glasses which button to push, my old one had clear buttons. The start button is only for 30 second increments as opposed to my old 1 minute increments. The power is not so good. If my old one took a minute to warm something up, this one take a minute and a half or even two. So wasting more energy. I would not recommend.
