you need a flashlight to set panel, it is only backlit after you start to program programing

Bought this same microwave about 3 years ago..works fine, however the inside is peeling and is discolored. It’s disgusting looking. I see others have had the same issue! Any suggestions? I did buy the warranty, but it ran out . I would not recommend.

The GE/Bodewell warranty service is TERRIBLE!! Bought this microwave in February 2024 and it worked about 10 months before it stopped working. Scheduled a service call so they could verify it was not working and fix or send me a new one. The technician came to my house and told me it was irreparable and I would have to follow up with the warranty service. When I called again, the warranty service people said the technicians aren't authorized to declare the appliance irreparable and that they would have to schedule ANOTHER service call for that. We've already been without a microwave for weeks waiting for this to get resolved!

I really wanted to like this microwave and it did work very well up until this past weekend. We don’t use our microwave a ton, but for basic meal prep. It did what was expected and everything was fine. Then the other day, almost to the day that I purchased it, it malfunctioned. Very disappointed GE, very disappointed.

The machine worked for 2+ months. The turntable gearing failed. After having a Breville Soft Close - the door was so loud!!!

Low power relative to previous larger Whirlpool unit means 50% more time required to cook or heat. Hard to see control panel (everyone who has used it states they cannot see or read the controp panel). The main issue of concern however, is that this unit just started coming on by itself one morning after a power failure. Unit was 6 months old. When power was restored, we found the unit was coming on by itself - for how long, do not know...but the exterior was very hot to touch and no doubt posed a fire hazard. Fortunate we were home and was caught before it started a fire. Unplugged and will contact GE Monday.

I had this microwave for 1 year and 8 months. It worked great initially. I would have rated it well. I used it tonight, stopped the heating early and removed my food. I cleared the remaining time, closed the door and walked away. When I came back in the room maybe 5 mins later, the microwave sounded like it was on, but only displayed the current time, the light inside was not on, and the plate inside was not rotating. I opened the door and the sound shut off, the whole microwave was hot, and it smelled of burnt wire. About 30 seconds later (door still open) the microwave died. I left it unplugged with the door open for an hour and a half to cool down. I tried plugging it back in and it is officially dead. I'm lucky I walked back in the room before it caught on fire or something.

Only had this for a month. No problems so far. Works exactly as is should. As of now I would buy this item again.

I purchased this microwave for my elderly mom. I returned it because the display pad is so dark it's hard to see the buttons/functions without using a flashlight to see them.

Defective turntable drive, we’ve had two new identical GE 1.1 cf countertop models in five months. Both have had the same loud turntable drive noise. The GE web site actually directed us to and scheduled the first machine for evaluation and repair at a certified GE repair shop. The shop told us the problem was a defective motor but parts were not available. I followed up with GE and learned they did not repair this particular model but would issue a rebate to purchase another microwave. We purchased the identical model and now, less than two months later, have the same issue as the first machine. Based on our experience we have no interest in purchasing another GE microwave. Unfortunately GE will not refund our money and only offers a rebate credit to buy another GE product. We’ve not contacted Best Buy customer service at this point, but are not optimistic that the issue will be satisfactorily resolved.

I am so frustrated with the keypad on this microwave. Only the clock lights up and not any of the options on the pad, making it very difficult to see. I didn’t see this mentioned on the box in the store so please beware if you are buying.

GE microwaves are junk! The door won’t open-have had GE repair out twice now and door is not working again!!!! Last repairman said I had to keep using Vaseline to lubricate constantly -just ridiculous! I have friends that bought same microwave and they have same issue and repairman also verified there are major issues with this microwave! DO NOT BUY!

It is the weakest microwave i ever owned, all my foods that say microwave for 1:30 its actually like 3 minutes... at least it loons nice.

This item has a bit of loud sound. Also there is no handle to open or close the doors which make it inconvenient.

We got this oven at a cheap price. It looks nice but the build quality seems a bit cheap. I can also hear a slight uneven noise when the carousel is turning. It does heat things up, though.

the display is not lit up and difficult to read unless in bright lighting. Very cumbersome. Otherwise the unit works very well.
