Within the first year the waveguide broke. Is being covered under warranty, but if its outside of the first year GE does not make the replacement part available.

Unfortunately the unit started acting up only a few months later, and eventually broke. GE sent a repairman out to our home and he found that the fan in the rear wasn't spinning due to being stuck on another component. This eventually overheated the magnetron and caused the unit to not be able to heat things up. He tried to order replacement parts but apparently there are none available. Contacted GE customer support only to be told that they would send me a goodwill certificate that would allow me to purchase a new unit. Disappointed that a name brand unit such as this would have such a terrible manufacturing defect. Equally disappointed in the fact that a large manufacturer like GE wouldn't have a part available for their techs to repair units. We're not allowed to buy the new unit until they process the certificate, which leaves me the choice of either being without a microwave for a month, or shell out my own cash and risk not being reimbursed.
