Make sure you read ALL the instructions before you put it up...hubby said he was all set then once it was all up I used the fan that night cooking supper and the house filled up with like smoke or whatever. It was because he didn't read one part of the instructions. The top of the microwave if your venting it outside you need to take the top off and turn the device the opposite way otherwise it vents it into your house. Had to take it back down the next day take that part off turn it and put it back up. So fyi, read ALL the instructions q

I read the directions, followed them, but it still goes on every time I use the microwave. It is loud and annoying when not needed. I was thinking of returning it, but installation is too hard, so I’m putting up with the noise.

Posted .The fan will operate automatically under certain conditions. An automatic fan feature protects the microwave from too much heat rising from the cooktop below it. It automatically turns on at low speed if it senses too much heat. If you have turned the fan on you may find that you cannot turn it off. The fan will automatically turn off when the internal parts are cool. It may stay on for 30 minutes or more after the cooktop and microwave controls are turned off. The condo (built in 1990) originally had a Hotpoint (GE) over the range microwave, so I figured between the mounting holes drilled in the cabinet for the original microwave, and the newer LG, one of them would line up. This wasn't the case, had to drill new holes for the new GE microwave, no big deal though. It's very quiet and cooks evenly. I would say an excellent value at its price point.

Controls are easy to use and the inside is quite roomy and taller than our old one which is good. We do have two minor complaints. One is the exhaust fan is pretty noisy especially on high but it does work well. The second is the labeling on the buttons is relatively small and subtle, good for overall appearance but hard to read in low light. Otherwise, its a good product and what we expected.

Nice Microwave Overall

The reheat option caused a few headaches until we found out you have to open and close the door to get rid of the "FOOD" message on the screen. Defrost works well and the other functions are fine. It's a good value.

I love the GE products with the exception of the refrigerator - ridiculous to pay over $50 for a water filter with a "chip" in it.
