Poor quality and customer service

You had to literally hit the door to close it. Call Best Buy and was told it had been to long to return it and had to call GE. GE said it hadn’t been long enough for the warranty to kick in. After several more phone calls GE finally agreed to send a repairman out to fix it. It has been better however it’s been about six months and the door is starting to act up again. I guess another repairman call is coming.

I had the best buy team install it so the fan is the right way. Looking into it I found the design inside makes it loose suction even though it has a powerful fan. Wish I could fix this somehow.

Defective microwave.

Mind you we have probably used it 5 times if that since we bought it. I think we got sold a defective door with it. Anyways, when I close it and start the timer sometimes it will heat up the food and sometimes it does. I need to stop it, open, close and push it the door for it to work. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this product nor Best Buy to purchase your appliances.

Posted .Hi - We are terribly sorry to hear about the issue you're having with your new microwave and can certainly understand your frustration and do apologize. On the newer model microwaves there is a built-in safety feature that may be causing the difficulty you are describing. If food is placed into the cavity before selecting a cooking sequence, the door must be opened and closed before hitting “START,” which signals the unit that food has been placed inside. The "FOOD" or "Insert Food" message on the display means the microwave thinks food has not been added yet. To correct the issue, open and close the door again and press “START.” If this is what is happening it is normal. The best thing to do is to, input your cooking function and time, open door and insert food and then press Start. We understand this is a different process than models of the past and does take some time getting used to. If this does not resolve or describe the issue you're having, please call service to have the unit repaired during the warranty. We hope this helps. Vikki@GEA

The one we were replacing was only about 4 years old, but it kept shorting out. We thought it would make it easier to just get the same one, but we were wrong. The newer model is a lower quality and the holes are in different spots, so we had to drill again. If you are in this situation, just get the microwave you want. This one isn’t that great, and it’s not any less work.
