Somehow 2016 model feels sturdier and higher quality. The handle on this is flimsy. It's also considerable louder than the old one. It appears GE did a lot of cost cutting measures. For example, old one had two light bulbs, this one has only one. It feels cheaper. Overall, it's pretty good but compared to the older version, quality seemed to go down.

Having the exterior vent is key.

Had read some negative reviews that it did not heat uniformly but have not found that to be the case at all. So far very happy with it.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.It's a 3 and not a 4 because the amount of button presses it takes to do some things, like cook food and rotate between fan strength could be less/more streamlined. 5 button presses to go from fan on to fan off, as an example, as you have to cycle through blast, high, medium, low and off. Handle is not as sturdy as it could be.

When we turned the light in to see the stove top we noticed the microwave metal got very hot. They changed from the simple plug in appliance bulb to a halogen bulb that is very hot. Why not LED???? We complained to GE, but as with a GE refrigerator that dies in 8 years, they don’t respond indicating they don’t care. GE (and Maytag) used to be the best, they are garbage now.
