I have it on the coldest temp and the food barely gets to 41 degrees. Anyone who knows about food safety knows how quickly this can create food spoilage and illness due to the increased probability of bacteria growth.

Started about five weeks ago you have to hit it right in the middle of the freezer with the door closed to stop it for a while.

It was purchased for a townhouse that we bought for our son and his roommates to use (total of 3 who are gone most of the day so it's not getting a lot). Here we are 4 months after the delivery date and I'm told they are keeping the freezer door shut with tape because the seal won't hold on its own. I called Best Buy who told me to call GE since it's still under warranty, but GE can't take my call right away to schedule service because operators are busy with other callers. I guess these things happen, but I didn't expect to have two service calls within 4 months after purchase. The first call related to the water line upon installation.

making noise like a helicopter

Posted .Hello Rusty - we are very sorry to hear that your top mount refrigerator is loud. This is certainly not what we like hearing. While the new refrigerators do make different sounds because they are energy efficient, it should not be extremely noisy. If your refrigerator is empty, please place some gallon jugs of water inside to help take up the empty space. The refrigerator runs optimally at half to three-fourths full. Please also verify it is a normal operating noise by checking the sounds listed in the back of the Owner's Manual. If it is making too much noise, we recommend to check the door gaskets to make certain the doors are closing properly. Also, a refrigerator runs best when it is half to three-fourths full. I called for a new replacement and condensation issues happened again within a few hours of the new one delivered. Therefore, I cannot recommend this appliance.

If the doors are opened frequently, left open, or even left slightly ajar, it would not be unusual to see some moisture or condensation on the shelves, packages, or walls, particularly if the refrigerator is located in an area of high humidity. We recommend to check that the doors close and seal properly. Check the door gaskets to make certain they seal properly.
