Unfortunately, the newer model is not the same quality. We are thirty days into owning and already the detergent dispenser does not always open to dispense soap. Other times it leaks from the top of the unit and down the sides. The hose in the back doesn’t retract like the earlier models, but that seems to be the least of our problems. The leaking from the top sides has happened three times. The lack of the soap dispenser opening causes unnecessary waste of water having to rerun the wash cycle. If you are buying, be sure to buy the extended warranty, unfortunately we did not and wish we would have. Now we have a $700 appliance that causes even more frustration.

It’s about 5 weeks old and has been nothing but trouble. Racks are smaller. Detergent latch won’t open if you have a large utensil in the basket but it’s placed right next to it, it leaks from the bottom and the hose let’s out a lot of water even after shaking it out from the recycle and lastly, the cycle now won’t start. I paid close to $750 for it, it’s new and not working. I can’t believe I’m going to have to pay for a repair or new dishwasher on top of this.

The only thing that I like about it was the fact that it was on sale. The first one we got the hose wouldn't even come out of the back so we had to take it back which involved a 2-hour drive for us. I don't like the fact that it doesn't have a dry cycle my old one that was probably 40 years old had that. The hose does not come out or go back in easily! You have to force the plug back in -it's not an automatic that pulls it back in when you tug on it! Very disappointing!

The heater in this dishwasher is inside the wash pump. The final rinse temperature is raised to get the best dry performance possible. We describe this dry operation as a “condensate dry” system as there is no external vent and no visible heating element. Additionally, there is no consumer selectable dry option. For maximum dry performance on this condensation dry system model, select Wash Temp boost and the AutoSense or Heavy cycle. We hope this is helpful. Kind regards - Vikki@GEA

Best Buy sent us another GE 24" Portable Dishwasher, and this one worked, however, it does not offer a "dry" setting so the dishes were wet and had to be dried with a towel before putting them away. The back of the dishwasher had a noticeable dent in it, which did not affect the unit's ability to wash the dishes, but it certainly would have affected the selling of it, later on, had we chosen to do so. We also had one additional complaint and that is the casters kept coming off the unit when we would roll it across the floor.

Posted .Hello - We apologize that this portable dryer does not have a heated dry feature. We're also sorry that your dishwasher arrived with a dent in the back and that the casters kept coming off when you'd move the unit. This would be quite discouraging and we can understand your disappointment. While this model does not have a heated dry setting, it does utilize a method called condensate dry - which draws moisture from the dishes to the sides of the tub after washing. Drying can be enhanced by opening the door after the wash cycle ends. It's important during installation to firmly push the casters into position. It may be helpful to place a piece of wood between the caster wheels and then lightly tap the wood with a hammer.
