I read tons of reviews on GEs and other brands before landing on this one. The fridge has some manufacturing issues that I observed, the right top corner of the control panel has a gap (every display model had the same issue, some worst than others) and also the doors don't line up horizontally no matter how much you adjust and they are not flush on the surface. It also runs a little louder for my taste but I heard this was something to do with their energy efficiency. Overall it keeps the temperature accurately and the slate color is amazing in hiding smudges and fingerprints. For the price, I'd recommended it to anyone.

This is exactly what I wanted. I love the slate color. The size of the refrigerator is great for a side by side. Usually it's tough to put things in the freezer side however GE has done a great job making sure that several family sized items can fit in the freezer at the same time. The refrigerator side is great too. I thought I would hate the door alarm but now I love it. I never realized how many times I didn't shut the door completely. I guess it's good to learn new habits if it saves you money. The down fall to the finish is that it can be easily scratched. The installers scratched two areas on the exterior doors but the finish does hide it well. I don't have kids and now very careful about the type of magnets I put on the fridge. Someone on these sites suggested painting a clear coating of appliance paint? While I don't know what that is, I may look into it to prolong the life of the refrigerator and the beauty of it because overall I'm extremely happy with the appliance.

I like the fridge as it leaves no fingerprints. I wasn't sure about the slate color as I like black but it wasn't on sale. Turns out the slate is actually easier on the eyes, less harsh than black and actually blends in with my black stove and dishwasher. It actually brightens up the kitchen, making it look more modern and is not overly shiny and cold like stainless steel. Only issue is door handles are stainless steel and leaves fingerprints. I didn't even notice the handles until it was delivered. Why didn't they make the door handle in slate too? Very annoying. The fridge is taller than my old one and the top shelf is much higher than I'm used. I put my water pitcher on the top shelf and my shoulder hurts when I reach in and out for it. It was definitely made for a taller person; not the average height person. I know I can adjust the top shelf lower, but that would be a domino effect as it would mean losing height space on the rest of the shelves. Overall, I like this fridge. Now I wish I had gotten the matching stove and dishwasher at the same time.

A few years ago we remodeled our kitchen and installed higher end LG appliances. Everything except the dishwasher has failed and had to be replaced. (you can't find parts or service in our area) So when the LG refrigerator, that stopped making ice 1.5 years after we purchased it, suddenly decided to spring a leak in its water feed house, we went looking. We had been without an automatic ice maker for so long that was one of our priorities. This unit makes LOTS of ice fast and holds about 8-10lbs. It's got a lot of room, well laid out and all glass shelves. Excellent lighting and it's the only brand I found that filters out pharmaceuticals in the water!! We've had it a couple of months and love it. Highly recommend.

I love the color which goes with my kitchen accent colors. Overall the refrigerator is very quiet and so is the ice maker. Great value for this type of refrigerator. Looks classy but very functional and love all the space inside. Only downside is the handles. I’ve had it for less than a month and lots of fingerprints even though it’s wiped down daily. The door handles should match the slate color of the refrigerator. But overall it’s GREAT!

We love our new fridge. The slate gray is awesome and there is no fingerprinting. We like the side by side configuration for our young kids, the little ones can get their own drinks and popcicles. I also really like the feature on the ice maker to be able to reach in without having to pull the whole thing out. We get tons of compliments on the color because it's so different from the standard stainless steel, and way easier to keep clean.

I see a lot of people rating the product based off of their experience buying it. This review is about the actual fridge. Quick background of my purchase: I spent 2 weeks searching all of the websites and businesses selling fridges and compared everything I could. This fridge had the best everything when compared to others within a couple hundred bucks. The white fridge came with a cracked kick plate and cut waterline. I declined delivery and they took it back. Best Buy said they wouldn't have another one for at least 2 months and I needed one immediately so I got the stainless. Best Buy managers in store were helpful and understanding so they even gave me it for the same price as the white. Anyway, once it was set up, everything started working great. The doors are spacious and the slide out shelves are great. I really like how bright the fridge is and how quiet it runs. The water and ice taste clean, unlike my previous Samsung side by side. When the ice maker is filling with water for the next batch, you can definitely hear it. Everything else is pretty quiet. The fridge has plenty of storage and the freezer could have more, but the ice maker is on the top shelf. A small turn off, but I knew it was there going in. All in all, I'm happy with the fridge and ample storage.

This refrigerator is very nice. We really like the slate finish. It looks nice and is functional. The shelves provide good flexibility and the water and ice dispenser works as expected. I would give 5 stars, but I think the water filters are a bit expensive, especially if replaced as often as recommended.

Also, if your water quality is very good, then you may not need to replace the filters as often. Thanks again for providing your feedback and for choosing GE! GE_Appliances

I purchased this back in October 2017. It's a great color very clean and has plenty of room inside. My only complaint is that sometimes it makes a humming noise or it sounds like the motor is forcing itself. We don't use the ice feature alot and we quickly found out that dumping the full tray of ice solves the problem.

We bought this after having almost the same refrigerator for the last 10 years or so. We purchased it primarily because we are changing from white to stainless appliances. We found it in passing and couldn't pass on the price as it was out of the box, scratch and dent. One month in and nothing but rave reviews!

This refrigerator/freezer is quite spacious. It runs very quietly. I chose this over similar models because the frame-less glass shelves seem sturdier than the type that hook into the back frame. Also there are more options for adjusting the heights of the shelves over some models. The bins on the doors are large and hold a lot items. I also chose a side-by-side to replace our bottom freezer model because I got tired of digging through the freezer drawer to find what I needed. I like the organization of the shelves and separated bins in the side-by-side freezer much better than one big drawer. Very happy with the black color. I never liked the industrial look of the stainless steel. Overall, very happy with our purchase.

I bought the stainless in this model but exchanged it for the slate black because the stainless left so many fingerprints and hard to keep looking clean. Love the black slate because it leaves no fingerprints but it is $100 more but worth it. The fridge is basic side by side no frills. I like the ice maker because it’s tall enough for my drink mug and the ice box is easy to grab cubes out of. Don’t like the interior light bulb I’m in the top shelf in the fridge because it takes up too much room for tall drink containers. Dumb design. Plenty of room for condiments and dressings milk on the door. We paid $1400

Picked this up during a floor model Sale for a great price. Like the look and features. Only hadn't for a month but seems to be running fine. It's a bit loud when it pulls water in the make ice but otherwise totally satisfied.

The first 48 hours are noisy as it revs up and is producing ice constantly and other strange sounds as to be expected according to the literature. After that period it is very quiet considering there is no carpeting with 10 foot ceilings in a large open floor plan area. I replaced a similar GE Profile model that was 12 years old and still running. I couldn't be happier with GE and Best Buys responsiveness when I was having some difficulty removing the ice bin. Need to first lift UP then out. The $149 Geek Squad protection plan for 5 years is a bargain.

While only having this unit for a few weeks, it has lived up to our expectations. Some reviews say that the unit is loud, but I have not noticed anything out of the ordinary at all. It's a fridge with a water dispenser and ice maker...it's going to make some noise!! I really like the extra drawer for yogurt, deli meats, cheese, etc. Freezer has plenty of space. Only little thing that my in-laws complained about was that the labels for water, crushed or cubed ice were not back lit so you could see the label of what you are selecting. I could see it just fine but if was a dark kitchen I could see their point. I do not have any complaints.

Well, this will be a short review, since I had to return the fridge due to it NOT being able to fit in the old fridge spot. Actually, the fridge would fit, but the doors would not be able to open since they needed additional clearance (they're not 90degree hinges). Fortunately, the delivery guy immediately spotted this when he entered my house (the still-boxed fridge was on his truck's liftgate). So, I refused delivery and (not-so) silently cursed the salesguy who only asked me about the width available and not about the clearance space. I specifically mentioned that there was a counter on one side and a wall on the other. Oh well, I guess I should have done more research on my own rather than rely on the salesguy. I still give the fridge at least 3 stars for having everything I was looking for (except for proper size for my kitchen).

I was looking for a fridge that would match the colors in my kitchen but didn't want stainless steel, which shows finger prints and which do not permit magnets to attach. The slate finish of this GE fridge solved both problems. Fridge functions well, and magnets really stick. the handles show finger prints but the rest of the surface stays beautiful. It took much longer to get the ice going, and the pastic bins and shelves are not as nice as the sub zero but at a fraction of the price, I think this one is a great value. I would definitely recommend this.

We bought this to match out quartz counter tops and had some space limitations so this was about the only slate unit that would fit (unless we went to the tiny counter depth unit). Generally we are pleased with this refrigerator. The Slate looks great and the unit does what its intended to do (keep things cold). The Ice maker seems slow to produce ICE and seems to want to crush them rather than giving cubes. The unit's compressor is louder than our 20 year old unit that was replaced but not so much that its a problem. The light at the top of the unit eats up a lot of space. I would have thought LED lights would be much smaller!

Hello Bneeds - thank you for providing a review of your refrigerator. We're glad it provides a lot of space and is easy to organize. The doors are designed to close on their own unless opened all of the way, so it would be difficult to change them closing if it is installed near a wall.
