We are glad to assist with the cooling performance of your air conditioner, as well as the sounds it's making. There are a few things we recommend checking that help improve the cooling. Make sure the unit is properly sized for the room and not too small. It is critical that the capacity of a room air conditioner be the right size for the room being cooled. An improperly-sized air conditioner can result in an inadequately cooled room. Also make sure there is nothing blocking the front of the unit. When the appliance is blocked by curtains, blinds or furniture, air flow is restricted and the cooling performance will be affected. for further guidance, please check out the following article here:
      https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=18860

With the unit making sounds, make sure the front grille isn't loose or broken. It can also make sounds due to improper installation. Please see the following article for more troubleshooting:

Complete and utter garbage lasted just under 30 days. Best buy wouldn’t even exchange it pr really do anything helpful. Warranty claim is a pain and you have to buy another unit then submit it again to be refunded so I bought it on sale and now am buying another just to save 100$ ill just buy something else

If your air conditioner began freezing up and shooting out ice, there are a few potential causes worth checking. Ice build-up usually means the airflow is restricted, which can cause the evaporator coil temperature to drop too low and freeze moisture in the air. This is often due to a dirty air filter, blocked vents, or other obstructions limiting circulation. It’s also important to consider the outdoor temperature—most window air conditioners aren’t designed to operate in conditions below 60°F, and running the unit in cooler weather can lead to freeze-ups. To help resolve the issue, make sure the air filter is clean, ensure nothing is blocking the airflow, and try running the unit on High Fan or High Cool with the temperature set as high as possible to thaw any built-up ice. Thanks for reaching out. If you live in an area where daytime temperatures can reach 120°F outside, make sure the room air conditioner is sized properly. In extremely high temperatures such as this, a room air conditioner will only improve indoor air temperatures approximately 15 to 20 degrees. If your air conditioner isn't cooling at all, please take advantage of your warranty and call 1-866-907-1655 to make a warranty claim. Joyce@GEAppliances GE_Appliances

If your Room Air Conditioner is not cooling properly and/or running continuously, there are a few things you should investigate. Make sure that it is the proper size for the room. If the outside are is cooler than 70, ice may form on the coils, which will keep it from blowing cold air. Lastly, if the Air Conditioner is cycling on and off too frequently, the appliance may be oversized for the area being cooled or the filter may need to be cleaned. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. -Arnesha@GEAppliances GE_Appliances

We are sorry to hear you're not happy with your new Air Conditioner. This model is perfect for rooms that are approximately 250 square feet. All Window Air Conditioners have white Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) air ducts. This foam material is similar to what is used in coolers and insulated cups. The EPS is part of the product and should not be removed. If you are having issues, please take advantage of your warranty and reach out to Bodewell Service by calling 1-833-436-3393.
