SETUP: One person job. Very easy to assemble and place in window. OF NOTE: Very small footprint. One of the smallest I have ever seen. REMOTE: It does come with a remote which is especially nice in the bedroom so if you forget to turn it on or want to lower or turn up the temperature on it you don’t have to get out of bed. CONTROLS: As you can see in the pictures, the remote control and base controls are adequate for just about anything you need. MY STORY: With spring here, I had decided it was time to replace my ten year old 8,000 BTU GE unit with this smaller 6,000 BTU unit which is more fitting to the size of the bedroom 16’ x 14’ (224 sq ft). I am putting the bigger older (approx. 10 years old) 8,000 BTU GE unit in my larger 18’ x 16’ (288 sq ft) kitchen. The reason I decided to get this particular GE air conditioner is because I have never had an issue with my 10 year old GE 8,000 or 15+ year old 12,000 BTU. PROS: Ease of setup, size, controls, remote, GE dependability, quiet. CONS: I really have none which is why I highly recommend it. RECOMMENDATION: I have had various GE air conditioners with various controls and various sizes over the years and have found them all to be very dependable and all still working. You can definitely spend more money on one, but I really don’t think you could get anymore dependability than the ones I have owned.

When I got this I had planned to drop in my window, plug it and enjoy the cool air. But after putting it there I found it blocked more of my view than I wanted, and the unit was lighter than I'd expected. It's vents are adjustable right and left but not up and down. In my low window, this was not ideal for me, and I was in the process of renovating the room I was putting this in. So there was not too much effort to wall mount the unit since I was already doing "wall work". I ended up mounting it in the wall about 4' from the floor. I built a small exterior shelf to help support the unit. The remote is a plus, as I can now change the temp from across the room. The unit is so much more quite than my previous unit, I was pretty amazed how silent it was. When I first put the unit in the room temp was 85, in 30 minutes the temp of the room was down to 77, the room has a strange shape, but it is about 320sq feet. So far I'm quite pleased with it's silence and when it goes on and off its barely noticable. So much better that so many room A/C units. I do wish the Air Flow was controllable in all direction, not just right and left.

Bought two units to cool first floor of a colonial with attached family room. Replaced an older large, heavy unit that worked fine but noisy and awkward to install every summer. We’ve had a number of hot humid days this summer and the units have had no problem keeping the house cool and comfortable even on low. The units are fairly light and easy to move around. Noise level is a bit higher than I’d like but reasonable. Installation was simple and I added a side panel insulation kit for improved efficiency. Unit looks good and the remote is handy. Overall I’m very happy with the purchase and Best Buy service.

This AC is mostly quiet, super light-weight and cools down my bedroom in a matter of minutes. The remote also works from a surprising distance. Also, very easy to install and it started working in no time. My only gripe is that the vents cannot move up/down...only side to side. I'd like to be able to direct the cool breeze up as my window is low to the ground.

An unprecedented heat wave hit Central New York and high humidity accompanied it. I was miserable and did some research on window air conditioners. The big box stores were almost totally sold out. I decided to check online and found Best Buy had the two GE air conditioners I was interested in at a decent price and they would deliver it with free shipping. I read the reviews of both air conditioners and decided to go with the one with 6000 BTUs instead of 5500. It was delivered and installed and I turned it on, and shut the bedroom door. Half an hour later my room was wonderfully cool and humidity free. Love all the speed and mode options and really like that it has a remote control. Not too loud, I was able to sleep with it on and loved that it turned off when the minimum temperature chosen was reached and turned back on again when it went above the temperature chosen. Easy to operate, cools well and I recommend this air conditioner.

Got this A/C cause I live in the upper level of my apartment and no permanent alterations are allowed. The recent heat wave really made living on the upper floor almost unbearable, anyone that lived on the top floor will know what I'm talking about. What's in the box Air Conditioner Unit Remote L & R Curtain Frame 2 x Curtains and install hardware Install Instructions were easy and straight forward, the installation took about 30 mins, could have been faster but I took my time. It's pretty straight forward, you put on the curtains and then the curtain frames and adjust to your window size and shut the window. Make sure to install the lock so the window can't be accidentally open, that could result in dropping the air conditioner. Over all this is a good window air conditioner but you need to make sure the square footage is under 250 sq. ft. Usually most bedrooms are smaller than 250 sq. ft. Air Flow - one issue is it blows to the right very well but to the left it doesn't direct enough air. Cooling - cooling works well for my 120 sq. ft. bedroom. It only took 1 hour to drop the temperature 5 degrees. There are 3 levels of air cooling, I measured the decibels for the low and high level fan speeds. AT low fan speed, it was averaging 50 db and on high fan speed it averaged 51 db. It was pretty much the same so you'll be able to sleep fine having this unit on at night. I would recommend this unit if you are using it in a room smaller than 250 sq. ft. and placing this to the left of where you want airflow to go.

This air conditioner is easy to install and use. It has three cooling and fan settings, an eco mode, and a filter reminder. It cools rooms up to 250 sq ft and has a remote control. It is quiet and energy efficient. The only downside is that it lacks some advanced features and apps. I rate it 4 stars out of 5.

I've never owned a window unit before, but I've lived in many houses with poorly working central air. Well not any more. For the first time in my life I feel like I'm in control of my comfort. This little machine takes the heat and humidity in the room and wrestles it into submission. I love how quickly it jumps into action, too. Within 10 minutes I go from hot and frustrated, to calm, cool, and collected. The sound is... a pinch louder than I expected, but that's so minor in comparison to the comfort I feel. Installation was a breeze, although my windows are too wide for this unit, using pieces of the box and some clever engineering, my window is sealed up tight. I think the instructions recommend two people just so you're not lonely, I could've easily done it by myself. Good guys GE though, that was a fun day with my friend. This unit is a MUST BUY. I cannot recommend it enough.

This little unit is great for cooling a small room, and does the job well. It's a little noisier than I would have through for an air conditioner this size, but that could be just me. The remote works well, as does the on-board buttons and display. The only annoying thing is that when you turn it off, it does *not* save the last settings for type of air (cooling, Eco) or the temperature, so you have to reset those each time you turn it on.

Good value. Very good remote. Cools our fairly large 2nd floor bedroom well. 4 stars because it emits a racket at the high setting. If off during the day, best practice is to turn it on low 2-3 hours ahead of bedtime, if you remember, so the room is cooled and you don't have to blast it. If your particular use has it on 100% of the time & low settings, give this one a 5.

Purchased this unit for my teenage son's game room. It was very easy to install and keeps the room very cool. It is a bit loud but he doesn't mind it since he has his headset on while he's playing. Filter indicator light is a great reminder to clean the filter and its easy to clean. Remote is great too!

Compact size and reasonably priced solution to cool a room or 2. Our main AC went down, so a few of these units around the house were a lifesaver and cooled the house cheaper than our central air. A couple notes: These portable units (like most if not all) have thin generic expanding sides to fill to the edge of the window. I always cut some foam insulation to cover these and seal the seams with duct tape all the way around. Security wise, they also make the window easier to break into.

Purchased it based on reviews and sale price, and I can’t complain. Easy to install and cools our bedroom down. It is a little bit loud which is to be expected from window units, but you do get used to it. And having a remote for it is nice and convenient.

Great little unit! Had to buy while waiting for a new central air unit to just cool a big bedroom. Works like a charm. Cools fast for being a little guy. Super easy install even for me (50 y.o. 5'3" gal). Took just a few minutes even with the tad of drilling. Not the quietest but even as a light sleeper, it doesn’t keep me up or wake me up. I'll be donating this once my new central unit is here but it has kept up with the 100 degree heat and Florida humidity just fine!

I bought this for my bedroom. I like to sleep with my room fairly cool. It does a pretty good job, but it struggles on a really hot day. It can keep my room at 80 degrees when the temperature hits high 90s or in the hundreds. It was easy to install. I have the old style window that pulls down. Using it is straight forward and easy. The filter is a little difficult to grab onto to pull it out for cleaning. Not a real big deal. Over all better than others I have had.

The cooling works great Set up was easy with understandable directions . Only negative is that it is a bit noisier than I’d like while it’s running, we have it in a small TV room (12 x14) . Have to turn the TV louder when it kicks on. Other than that, no complaints.
