The fridge you didnt know you needed!

After spending my first few days with this fridge, I cant say enough about it! First off, this thing is a monster compared to my old refrigerator. I do not think I will ever fill this thing up! The front doors are a beautiful stainless steel and the accent lighting inside provides ample lighting to see everything (the lights shine subtly off the beer bottle ever so gently, giving it a shiny glow of hoppy goodness). The flexibility of the drawer dividers is great when trying to keep things organized and the quick open door handle is the most underrated part of this fridge. I initially did not think I needed it but now I cant live without it! This fridge is super heavy but the wheels on the bottom let it slide with ease. Make sure to twist the support feet out once it is set where you want it or you will be pulling the fridge out every time you open the freezer drawer.

Not a big fan of this brand with rfid water filters. Ge trying to get more money for filtered water and restrict you from using cheaper filters. Issues with the compressor at around the 3 year mark. Too expensive to fix so now we are in the market for another after only 3 years. Awesome.

Only works with expensive GE water filter

I purchased this refrigerator 6 months ago, and it has been great, other than the fact that I just learned that it comes with a life sentence of expensive water filter replacements. GE changed the filter on these models to one with an RFID chip (RPWFE), so it will not dispense water or ice at all unless you use a genuine GE filter replacement for $50. The filter is exactly the same as the previously used RPWF which you can get replacements for around $12 to $15. The only difference in the filters is that the RFID chip talks to your refrigerator and tells it if you are using a genuine GE filter. If it is an aftermarket filter, or the older GE model, you don’t get any water or ice. So basically this refrigerator will cost you $100 per year in filters for life. Of course, this information is hidden from the consumer until after they buy it. I will never buy another GE refrigerator again.

Great size for large family gatherings (multiple turkeys, etc), but not close to worth the cost. Has to have warranty repair on evaporator fan within a couple of months (2 service calls to get that handled). Now, less than two years in (warranty expired), the freezer won’t cool and ice in the ice maker melting and leaking out of the door water dispenser all over the floor. Using our 25 year old whirlpool frig in the garage. I’ve fixed frigs before, but this new GE is a pain just to figure out how to get the freezer door off. Why do I have to do this less than years after spending $3k for a freaking frig? GE customer service suggested I call Conns or a couple other local repairmen - and they will (probably knowingly) guess on unlikely culprits 2 or 3 times before actually fixing the issue - and next thing I know I’ll be out another $600 or so I’m sure. I’m sure all fridges these days will have similar issues due to being made overseas with substandard QA, but either way, I know I won’t be trying my hand again with a GE - I simply don’t have the time or money to do so.

13 days after delivery everything in the freezer melted and the fridge was barely cool. GE came out today and found the compressor has a leak and needs to be replaced. We've been without a fridge for a week and it will be another week before they are back to repair. it By then the fridge will be broken longer than it worked. I don't want to keep the fridge with it having such a major problem so early on, but not sure we have any other options. We are extremely disappointed in a brand we thought was a sure thing.

This is a nice looking machine. The ice maker worked as so many of this kind do: it can build up unless you take out the ice unit and shake it from time to time. OK, I expect that. What I did NOT expect was to have the electronics in the unit fail only 4 months after we purchased it. The electronics failed so the compressor, which works fine and is mechanical, will not turn on. Result: loss of food. The unit is under warranty. It has now been 5 weeks since my initial call for repair and 3 weeks since the parts were ordered. Finally, next week (maybe?) the repair will be completed. Will it happen again? For the past few months I had noticed ice crystals forming on food in the freezer meaning that they were beginning to thaw. For the first time I am considering purchasing an extended warranty. I went with this model on the recommendation of the Best Best sales person.

We loved this refrigerator while we had it. The door-in-door was a bit gimmicky, I don't remember using it that much, but I suppose could be convenient for some.

I think most of these reviews are from people who JUST got the fridge. I have had this fridge for 6 months and I’m already having issues. It’s freezing all my foods in the refrigerator. It’s to the point where water is not dispensing out because it’s frozen. Don’t get this Product. It sucks, and I regret getting it. Ugh. Wish I could return this trash.

Somehow my negative review that stayed within all the guidelines doesn't show up in the list of reviews. I even included pictures and it is nowhere to be found on the fridge reviews. What's going on Best Buy?
