Just outlived the warranty. I bought this in summer 2020 and doesn't work trying to install it in summer 2022. Vague error message 88 and support is a nightware to get this resolved. Waste of money for a pricey unit and brand name.

Trash. I used the air conditioner last summer for a few days of use and it worked fine. Today, a year after purchase, the air conditioning unit does not provide cold air. I must return and apply the guarantee for malfunctions.

Hey there, and thanks for letting us know of your experience. We truly hate to hear the air conditioner isn’t providing cold air – we know how frustrating this must be, especially when you’ve only had the unit for a year. This certainly isn’t what we expect for this model, and our team will be informed of your situation for review; we appreciate your feedback. When the air conditioner isn’t cooling as it should, we do suggest making sure the filter is clean and there are no restrictions to the airflow around the unit, such as curtains, furniture, etc. It can also take about a day for the room to be cooled down when the air conditioner is first turned on. We have additional troubleshooting tips on page 13 of the manual, if those may be useful for you, and there is warranty information as well on page 17. If you need to view the manual online, you can do so on our GE Appliances website by looking up the model number and going to the product page. We hope this information is helpful, and are always glad to assist if you have any other concerns or questions in the future. -Sarah@GEA GE_Appliances

this air conditioner will only waste your time since it doesn't work, it's useless, they changed it twice and neither worked, don't waste your time, they make an insurance charge that they don't want to reimburse later

I’ve had this unit for a little more than two weeks (which Best Buy’s deadline for returning this unit). So far it is super loud, sounds like a jet airplane, not blowing very cold air and now it’s leaking water all over my couch. Super disappointed. Beware Buyers

It says it cools a medium/large room, but it made it comfortable ish. My 5,000 BTU worked better then this did. It's highly disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this brand or air conditioner if you are trying to cool a large area, or even a medium sized bed room.

Hello there. We appreciate you taking the time to write a review but hate to hear that your air conditioner is loud. There are several normal operating sounds including a pinging noise, clicking, and of course dripping. Some noise can be reduced by removing the subbase water plug. If your air conditioner is still too loud, even after removing the plug, we recommend that you utilize your warranty. More information can be found one page 17 in your Owner’s Manual. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out. Thanks. -Arnesha@GEA GE_Appliances

Hey there, and thanks for reporting this situation to us. We truly hate to hear the air conditioner isn’t working – we know how inconvenient that must be, especially when you’ve only had it a year. This isn’t the positive ownership experience we want for you. If the air conditioner won’t start at all, you may want to check the fuse or circuit breaker to ensure adequate power is reaching the unit. Pressing Reset on the power cord plug may also help. If that doesn’t resolve the concern, or there’s another issue with the air conditioner, we do have Troubleshooting Tips on page 13 of the Use and Care manual; you can view that on our GE website by looking up the model number, going to the product page and clicking the ‘Owner Support’ option. If necessary, our Service Department is available at 1-800-432-2737. They would be happy to examine the unit for any issues. We hope this is fixed for you soon, so you can get back to enjoying the air conditioner. We will work to earn back your trust in GE Appliances going forward, and are always happy to assist with any other concerns or questions. -Sarah@GEA GE_Appliances

      Greetings,

We're quite sorry to hear that your air conditioner is not cooling your room well and know how much of a pain that can be. The lowest temperature setting for this air conditioner is 64 degrees F. We'll be happy to share some other tips if your AC is not cooling properly. Make sure nothing is blocking the front of the air conditioner. When the unit is blocked by curtains, blinds or furniture, air flow is restricted and the cooling performance will be affected. Consider the temperature of the room when the air conditioner was first turned on. If the room was very hot, it will take longer to cool the room. Make sure the air filter has been cleaned in the last 30 days. If the air conditioner is cycling on and off too frequently, the unit may be oversized for the area being cooled or the filter may need to be cleaned. We hope this information helps. Hey there, we're very sorry to hear your air conditioner has been freezing up. This would be such a headache to deal with and we'd never want that for you. For the best help, we suggest the following tips: 1) A cool evening in which the outdoor temperature is below 70 degrees F is one of the causes for a window air conditioner to have ice on the indoor coils. The best way to prevent ice on coils is to not run the unit if the outdoor temperature is below 70 degrees F. If the temperature is close to 70 or you are unsure of the temperature, you can turn the thermostat to a warmer setting, set the fan switch to the highest position. This allows for better airflow across the coils. 2) Switching the Fan speed to a lower setting for quieter operation but leaving the thermostat at a higher setting will result in not enough air flowing over the cooling coils. This lower airflow will not keep the moisture off the coils and in turn that moisture will freeze. 3) A dirty or clogged air filter may also cause the coils to ice up. Make sure the filter is clean. If none of these help, we recommend consulting the warranty found on page 17 of the owner's manual. We hope this is found useful and we're wishing you the best. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. - Guy@GEA GE_Appliances
