G.E. portable air conditioner
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is amazing. When a window unit isn't the best option, this portable works great. I was worried that it would fill up frequently, like a dehumidifier, but a month of use i havent had to empty the water reservoir yet. It must go out the hot air hose as vapor.

||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Water leaked out all over my living room, it doesn’t have a filter at the bottom so it got dirty inside I don’t know if that’s the reason the ac leaking so much water and my living room and is 20 by 20ft and 60% of my my living room got flooded with water and this is a 14000btu and it doesn’t cool the living room. Cooling setting doesn’t work any more as of today only the dry setting and the fan mode

For this heat
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I should’ve bought 1 more .. works great the only thing is when setting it to your window the locks don’t really stay if your trying to install yourself you need someone to help you hold while you close your window cause it keeps coming down and the screw that came with it kinda worked but you need 2 .

Lousy exhaust setup
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very cold air is exhausted into the room but you only feel it when standing directly in front. The pieces that form the window mount for the exhaust hose are complete garbage. One side panel doesn’t “lock” into place with the little plastic lever. The hose end does NOT stay connected to the plastic mounting piece. I am holding it together with duct tape. Even then, the minimal weight from the lightweight exhaust hose pulls just enough for the whole contraption to keep coming loose. I think Im going to return this because it’s too much supervision. Every time it dislodges incredibly hot air rushes into the room from the exhaust hose.

Pricey...but works great!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After having a 6-year old A/C unit quit on me (grrrr...) I had to wait a few days for the new compressor to come in. In the meantime the Florida heat, at the beginning of September, was unbearable. I looked all over for one of these portable A/C units. Couldn't find one anywhere!!! There was ONE LEFT at the Best Buy so I went and grabbed it! My windows don't really work with the window A/C's and my house was roasting. Although a little pricey I had no choice but to purchase this G.E. model. Once out of the box it's almost "plug-and-play"! The most difficult part was finding a window suitable for the exhaust fan. Once found it's just fit it in the window, seal it the best you can...then hit the POWER button. This was more than I bargained for! This model has a remote control, revolving directional fins (or you can adjust and set to fixed with the remote), temp controls, auto shut off/on according to the temperature you set it to. Bottom line...this thing rocks! Cooled the room down quickly and assisted in the rest of the house. It is somewhat noisy at full speed but I'd rather take the noise than to sweat while sitting inside my house! It's also somewhat heavy but it has caster wheels and is easy to push where you need it to be. The only "real" issue I had is when I moved the unit to aim from one room to another the exhaust duct popped out. Best way is to set the unit where you want it and leave it there! If you should have to move it, shut it off, remove the exhaust duct, reposition then reattach the duct. Overall, in the 5 constant days I was using this I had no problems with the function of this machine! It's easy to store in a closet (my house is small) and I will keep this for those Florida summer days when the power goes out in the middle of summer. It also serves as a dehumidifier, although I haven't used it in that capacity so I cannot comment on that. I WOULD recommend this to anyone!

Window vent doesn't work for normal size windows!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a 27" window. The window slab doesn't work for that size. the slabs were created to slide to fit different size windows...but obviously no one tried to use it! The sliding slabs block the opening and block the attachment of the hose to the opening. Such a disappointment. Our a/c compressor was stolen in the middle of the night and this was purchased to provide some relief! And, no foam was included as stated in the instructions either. Bummer! Guess will have to return this huge thing that we were excited about.

Works Fine, But Overpriced
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll be honest, this wasn't my first or second choice for a portable AC. Probably not even my third choice. I had wanted one of The Wirecutter's top 2 picks by LG or Frigidaire—both of which are only about $100 more than this one (although they can be had for less if you buy at the right time our with coupons), but have smart home features, better energy efficiency, and other features that make the user experience better. But I ended up with this unit because my preferred units were sold out or on backorder, and I had a really difficult time finding in-stock units that covered this much square footage. One of the things to really know about this portable AC is that it's "dumb." The remote doesn't even sync up with the AC if you change the temperature or any other settings manually using the built-in buttons on the unit itself. The fanciest this unit gets is the automatically tilting vent which swings up and down to spread the cool air and automatically opens and shuts when powering the unit on and off. It doesn't automatically shut off, but there is a timer. The way the hose folds into the unit for storage is nice, but the connection point between the hose and the window bracket is pretty awful and flimsy. If you live in an old building like me with really small windows (mine are around 24" at their widest), you're going to probably have to use the bracket without either extenders (because at their shortest the extenders cover the exhaust port) and fill in the gap with foam and tape. With that said, it does what it's supposed to do, which is cool and cool well. Here are some other positives. The packaging and unboxing is relatively easy (I did it by myself as one person) and it's nice that the wheels are installed from the outset. The wheels do make it pretty easy to move. I like the cleanable filter. I haven't had to drain the unit while using it on AC mode, which is a positive since the drain is at the bottom and I think it would be a whole thing if I did have to do it. The noise doesn't bother me personally, but I have always liked white noise in the background. The fan on its lowest setting is definitely louder than my cheap Lasko fan on its highest setting. Once the compressor kicks in you definitely need to shut the whole thing off if you're on a phone or video call. The hose doesn't seem to get too hot or leak too much air. All things considered, In my opinion, this fan is overpriced by about $50-$100. I bought it because it was the best available locally before a sweltering weekend. It has increased my comfort during hot days, and hasn't struggled (as far as I can tell), but I hate overpaying for things and I certainly feel I did here. Would I recommend it? Yes, because at the end of the day it does what it's supposed to do. We'll see how the longevity is!

A Good Conditioner!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A well-built unit, sleek design but heavy, would be difficult to move if not for the recessed casters and hand hold notches on the sides. A washable air intake filter on the back is very easy to remove for cleaning. I installed it just in time for a string of 90Deg days and it actually could make the room chilly if I wanted! And the unit has not produced any condensation. The 3 fan speeds have a good flow range between low to high. Sound level-fan only: 52dB to 62dB @ 6ft., mostly from just the volume of air being moved. In Air Conditioner (Cool) mode 60dB at low fan and 62dB at high fan. Comes with all the necessary hardware to install, and an IR remote which only works line of sight, which is fine if there isn't any furniture in the way; however, I prefer to use the touch sensitive control panel on the top. Other slick features are the motorized outlet door with a swing mode which oscillates to help move the air around the room. All in all, I'm quite happy with this A/C and feel it will last for a long time.

Picked it up and got it home and tube was broken.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Did a curbside pick-up 25 miles from home. It hit 91 degrees in the house and I wouldn't have been able to wait for one to come by mail. Got it home and out of the box and found that one of the clips on the tube that hooks onto the AC was broken off. Also comes with one very tiny screw that you have to drill a hole for so make sure you have a power drill. Does not come with the padding tape for the window so there may be gaps and not the perfect seal you'd expect for $648. I had some padding tape from another AC leftover and superglued the clip back on. After all the hassle of getting it set up, the AC worked surprisingly well. Its currently 88 degrees outside and only 68 in my bedroom. As noisy as your average AC. Pretty heavy so get help moving it into your house if you need it. Once its out of the box its pretty easy to roll around. Remote works fine. So far im overall happy with it. Just wish it came with the padding tape for window like other units, had the hole pre-drilled, and didn't come broken when paying that much money for an AC. Doing it's job just fine though.

Posted .Thanks so much for reaching out about your new air conditioner. We are sorry to hear about the early hiccups during installations but glad to hear everything is staying cool now. The new installation method for this unit does not require foam sealing strips. Also, if the small screw is included, it is no longer needed as well. We do not recommend drilling holes into the unit. The screw was part of the prior installation process and can be discarded if received. We apologize for the inconvenience and the broken clip you mentioned. Please stay safe and keep in touch. - John@GEA

Great affordable 3-in-1 A/C
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only reason why I rated it 4 is the drain plug is at the bottom. I have to put it on the table so the hose can go into a bucket when I use it on dehumidifier. A/C blows cold. Remote works very well. I really enjoying the portable A/C. Did not take no time to install. I installed two within 15 minutes. Each person is different. My husband took 2 hours for one unit.

Works well but need some work
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this portable ac in hopes of cooling down the living room which is about 25x15 give or take, honestly didn't have enough cooling power to cool the room on its own. The hose gets very hot and radiates heat which makes the room harder to cool. The hose definitely needs an insulating hose to keep it from releasing heat back into the room. Installation was simple not even 10 minutes to set up, hose sometimes comes off from the exhaust vent but i fixed that with a few screws and power drill. Recommend using a fan in front of the ac unit to direct cool air towards you otherwise it aims it up into the ceiling. With hose insulation and closing the doors in the living room and adding a fan it makes the ac work as i think it was designed to. If you have very high patience like me get it otherwise I believe you're better off with a window unit.
