My Central Air system is down for repairs and I needed a substitute fast. I spent hours researching and reading reviews on Amazon. Finally, I had to pull the trigger on something I could pick-up same day, that’s were this came in. It ultimately came down to the DOE Cooling Power Rating, which is much more stringent than ASHRAE which is what’s typically marketed. For $599 it offers the most BTU/$. I’m glad to report, in a 700 SF open floor layout with living, dining and the kitchen combined, it gets the job done! It does not get the temp to 65 on a 88 degree day, but I’ll take 70 degrees any day. I’m confident, in a 550 SF space, it can hit 65 degrees. It took 1 hour to notice a change in temp and 2 hour to reach equilibrium - which is pretty good. The sound level is similar to a typical window unit. This unit has some heft, so do check the weight to ensure your comfortable with lifting. I haven’t used any of the other features, but all I can say is that is works well and setup was 5 minutes with a 26” window opening. It’s a keeper and I recommend it!

I exchanged my 250 sq ft portable AC for this larger 550 sq ft unit because i moved into a new apartment and i needed a larger unit for the living room. I loved the 250 sq ft unit so i figured the 550 sq ft GE unit would be just as amazing and it is! Its a heavy unit so make sure you can carry it but its definitely worth it! Get help if you have to but get it !

Have had this unit for a few years now and it still cools down a full living room no problem.

It's easy to setup and it does a great job , cooling my upstairs bedroom. Also it doesn't fill up fast with the condensation water that you drain. The drain plug is very small and hard to get open by hand, because of the rubber plug. Other than that I'd give it an 6.5 out of 10. To pricey.
