Pot has a bad design with a lip that makes you have too tip the pot up side down to empty it so use a different container to fill the water tank.

The coffee maker is attractive. First cup of coffee has a good taste. The warmer does not remain on, so the 2nd cup is lukewarm.

Thermal Carafe Really Makes A Difference!

This GE appliance is the Coffee Maker that I did not know I needed, until I got it. I have been using it for about a week, and it has served me very well during the recent cold weather. The thermal carafe really makes a difference! It is nice to be able to have coffee stay nice and hot for many hours, without using the burner. Coffee Maker burners work well for the short term, but after a several hours they do what their name says, and leave coffee tasting burnt. Using a thermal coffee pot eliminates this problem. My coffee now stays warm and secure in the sealed thermal carafe. I am already picturing myself taking the whole pot out on the patio with me, and enjoying my morning coffee that will stay hot for as long as I need it to be. As others have commented the carafe is sealed, but this is what keeps the coffee hot. It also allows the carafe to be taken on the go without leaking. If you are concerned that it is all looks, don’t be. The brewing performance of this GE Coffee Maker matches it’s premium high end look. So not only does it look great and effortlessly keeps coffee hot for many hours, but it most importantly makes great tasting coffee. This coffee maker is great for the person that wants a maximum stainless steel look for their kitchen. It looks great and matches other stainless steel appliances perfectly. From the moment I took it out of the box, I immediately noticed how well built and solid it felt. It could not be easier to use. Just put coffee in the reusable filter, and push a few buttons. The brewing modes are Regular and Bold. It has a programmable timer so you can have coffee ready whenever you want. It will automatically shut itself off after 2 hours. The components are easy to take out and clean. Just wash, rinse, and dry and they are done. Included is a washable filter, but be aware the filter and carafe are not dishwasher safe and must be washed by hand.

I WAS EXCITED OVER THIS COFFEE MAKER BY GE, UPON RECEIPT OF IT I WAS DISAPPOINTED, IT'S DIMENSION WERE LARGER THAN ANTICIPATED AND WAS TOO TALL FOR MY COUNTERTOP. FOR SOMEONE ELSE IT MAY BE ANOTHER GREAT PRODUCT MADE BY GE. I ENDED UP RETURNING IT.

    Coffee Maker - Mixed Experiences

I've been working from home, like many people, for the last year, so a coffee maker gets daily usage in my house. I thought it was time for a new one, and this one looked to be a good one to try, but my experience has been mixed. First, for the positives... setup of the coffee maker was simple. Removed it from the box, and the packaging, put it on my counter and it was basically ready to go. From an aesthetic perspective, the coffee pot looks great on the counter, and seems well made. Brewing a pot of coffee is straightforward, and the reusable filter is great. The thermal pot that comes with the unit keeps the coffee warm for about 2 hours. The taste of the coffee was very good too, so we were happy with that. But there are also some things that detract from the overall score for me that keep me from really recommending this unit. First, when filling the reservoir with water from the pot, the way the coffee pot is designed makes it tough to fully remove all of the water. Unless I completely turned the pot upside down, some was always left in the pot when I was making coffee. Second, there isn't a lot of space to empty the pot into the reservoir. As a result, water would sometimes splash on the lip of the unit. GE seemed to account for this by sloping the lip towards the reservoir so any spill is directed to the opening a bit. But I often had to grab a paper towel to wipe up the counter a bit after. Next, while the brewed coffee tastes great, it isn't overly hot. I can immediately drink it. It is certainly hot, but not as hot as a pot of coffee that my old unit made. This was disappointing as I like a really hot cup of coffee. Another area that disappointed is that the unit does not indicate when the brewed coffee is no longer warm. I often brew a pot of coffee, and my wife might grab a cup from the pot an hour or so later. It would be great if GE could have added a little LED light that stayed lit for two hours as a simple timer to indicate the contents of the pot should still be hot. As a result I found myself pouring coffee from a pot once or twice where the coffee had cooled considerably. Also, there appears no way to just simply re-heat the pot. The element turns off immediately after brewing since the pot is thermal. So if I just wanted to turn the element on to reheat it, I couldn't, because all I could do was brew a new pot and start the cycle again. Overall, these might be nit picking as it does brew a good tasting cup of coffee, but for the price, I guess I expected a little more in terms of features and overall functionality.

This is a nice 10-cup coffee maker that looks good on your counter. I have a few coffee makers to compare this to. First, stainless steel pots are great for keeping coffee warm for hours. They stays much warmer if you put hot tap water in it and let it sit for about 10 mins before you brew the coffee. Out of the box, washed and set it up. The inside rim of the pot is a little sharp so be careful washing. I read the instruction manual for stainless pot and I have to say that they are poorly written and if you are new to coffee pot making this will probably have you rereading them to make sure you understand them. The coffee pot is a shorter 10-cup carafe that sits nicely on the coffee maker. When pouring the water into the reservoir it is difficult to pour without spilling. There isn't ample room to get the water into the reservoir when the lid is in the way and the water doesn't pour out of the coffee pot all the way. I ended up filling the reservoir with measuring cups for a better pour spout. The pour spout on the pot is awkward and is oddly designed. When you get down to the bottom of the pot you can't get the rest of the coffee out because of the pour spout design. It does have a cord storage area in the back but it is difficult to get the whole cord in without really pushing it in. The coffee maker comes with a mesh filter so you don't "have" to use paper filters, however I found that the coffee tasted better using a paper filter. The first pot of coffee I made without the paper filter was bitter tasting. I like that you can set it up with a timer to have your coffee ready in the morning. There is also a Bold brew but wouldn't use that because it is too strong for me. Also, the suggested amount of coffee given in the manual was way too strong at 2 tbsp per cup - it was like mud. I backed it up to about 1 tbsp per cup and that was better. All in all, I wouldn't rate this as a must buy but it will do the job for a lower end stainless steel coffee maker. I also have a Breville stainless coffee maker that works much better. (just being honest)

Coffee grounds in every cup after it worked okay for a year. Still very hard to pour water into from day one and then after a year it starts shooting the water out so fast you get coffee grounds in every single brew. I hate this machine. Don't waste your money, it's absolute garbage.

This coffee maker is compact and very well made. The stainless steel build looks much better than most units that are all plastic. It is easy to program and have your beverage ready when you wake up in the morning. It makes very little noise and will not wake you while it is brewing up your morning pick me up. Coffee is easy to add and it cleans easily. The only drawback I have found is that it would be nice if the water reservoir had a slightly bigger opening so you could fill it with the pot. Other than that it is great.

We got this coffee maker specifically to have a self-timed machine and have coffee ready in the morning. It does that well, but makes sacrifices elsewhere. It’s big, due to the vacuum sealed/thermal nature of the pot. This thermal feature works well and keeps the coffee warm for hours after it’s been brewed. A drawback to the coffee pot is that it has a large lip on the inside of the pot which prevents all of the liquid from pouring out. This makes it difficult to use the pot to fill the water reservoir and the narrow reservoir opening limits the size of other receptacles you can use to fill it. The pouring spout for the pot is also poorly optimized and does not create an even flow of coffee when pouring. Overall, I wish more thought had gone into the pots design. It’s easy to set up the auto-on feature, though it must be reactivated every day. There is also an option for “Bold” coffee. That’s the extent of the features. The clock is always off unless you press a button. It comes with a reusable fine mesh coffee filter which is easy to clean and will save money and trash on disposable filters. We haven’t had any issues with grounds in the coffee.

With coffee makers, you really need to do a lot to stand out as there are so many....this one didn't really do that. Firstly, the carafe has a weird design where it doesn't pour out the entire pot of coffee. Every time I go to clean it, there is always some left over even after nearly the pot completely upside down (and making a mess in the process) The coffee is good, and the device itself looks really sharp and sleek on my counter, I just really wish the coffee stayed just as hot (not warm) as when it was first brewed. It stays warm, but I find myself having to microwave my cup for 30 seconds to get it nice and hot again. Nonetheless it is a decent coffeemaker --- but with so many available, I would really fix the carafe issue and design.

Hi there, and thanks for letting us know about this situation – we truly hate to hear your coffee maker stopped brewing after one use. We know how frustrating that must be, and it’s certainly not the quality ownership experience we want for you. You might want to try unplugging the model from power for a couple minutes before reconnecting – this resets the electrical components and can help in some cases. Making sure the carafe is correctly seated can also help. If you are unable to resolve this issue and need to take advantage of the limited warranty that covers the appliance, information on that is listed on page 9 of the manual (which can be viewed on our GE website if you look up the model number). We hope that information is helpful, and you are able to enjoy quality coffee soon! -Sarah@GEA GE_Appliances

I love this coffee maker’s pot!!!! The coffee maker is quite eye catching with a sleek almost seamless stainless-steel body which makes for a wonderful countertop presentation. It brews a brilliant & delicious cup of coffee or tea. It has the reusable cone filter, but I like easy cleanup, so we added the disposable cone filters as well. But the end all be all for this GE, is the insulated thermal carafe. I love being able to make a family breakfast and putting the thermal pot on the table for all to share. But what sold me is that I work nights and my wife works normal people hours. This has always caused me to either reheat an old cup of coffee or run to the coffee shop before work. But now she will turn on the coffee maker when she gets up and by the time I get up around early afternoon, the coffee is still warm and still taste fresh. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
