No stainless steel option PEB7227SLSS

When a product is advertised as stainless steel from the manufacturer, you expect to get a stainless steel product. This is not the case with this product. Best Buy advertises different colors compared to the GE website. The GE website advertises it as stainless steel, which is incorrect. There is no stainless steel on the product, even though the GE website clearly shows a stainless steel option for this microwave. When I ordered it from Best Buy, the product was relatively new and I was referred to the GE website. I thought I would get stainless steel since the model # reflected the stainless steel option listed on the GE website. The color is dark gray. After contacting GE, they informed me that they do not make a stainless steel option even though they continue to advertise one. Very disappointed in the looks of this microwave and the false advertising on GE's part. The dimensions of the associated stainless steel trim kit(different GE product) also did not work for me. The width of the cutout on the trim kit does not match up with the width of the microwave and the GE website appears to be incorrect and extremely confusing for that as well. If GE would recall this microwave and send out one with a real stainless steel door, it would fix the problem. They also need to manufacture a trim kit that fits or post clear and accurate dimensions for the associated trim kits for this microwave.

The PEB7227SLSS microwave is designed to be built-in with the stainless steel trim kit. This allows for a seamless appearance when installed over our wall ovens. The door color will match the door color of the wall oven, yet the stainless trim matches and lines up with the stainless steel on the wall oven. Pure junk. Don't waste your money.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased the unit to replace older unit in cabinet because it was white and matched current appliances. Arrived in a reasonable delivery time . Installed it in the cabinet although no instructions to set up or use the product. First time i pushed a number it started working and the sounds that came out of it can only be described as someone shaking a tin can full of nuts and bolts. Noise stopped in a few seconds and then as soon as I stopped the cooking the noise started again for several seconds. opened the door and the unit was filled with smoke. Tried it several times with And without the dish inside and same result. removed the unit and returned it to store. Unfortunately white is a difficult color to purchase so i had them order me a second attempt. Meanwhile the trim kit arrived . Huge box with nothing but a plastic trim surround. No additional parts as described in the installation instructions i found on line. Most expensive piece of plastic i have purchased. Never another GE product...

Do not buy this microwave
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Please do not purchase this microwave, We did a total kitchen remodel and installed a previous GE profile microwave with trim kit. After 6 months the unit began sparking. Contacted GE who sent out service tech and said microwave needed to be replaced but model is discontinued. Received this model as replacement which was installed with a new trim kit. 6 months later the microwave stopped heating. Again GE sent out service tech who said it was magnetron tube and part was on backorder for weeks. After almost 6 weeks was told part still on backorder so GE offered to replace with new microwave. New microwave installed 12/18 and then after two months door latch broke. When latch broke unit turned on and turntable is moving, had to turn breaker off to stop it. Service technician came and can not service the microwave because he can't open the door to get it out, as screws are located inside! Was instructed by GE to pry open the door, He refused and requested that actual GE technician come and fix as he didn't want liability. GE will not refund my money, still waiting for this issue to be resolved. Service technicians all say this is a piece of junk with terrible design. Best Buy should not sell it!

Broke after 6 weeks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We moved into a new house in which the builder had installed the PEB7227ANDD microwave. Six weeks after moving in the microwave completely shut down during use--lost all power, functionality, etc. We asked the builder and they said to contact GE CARES. GE sent a repairman out -- made us wait 10 days for the guy to come out. After taking the microwave out of the wall and looking through it, the GE guy says it has a bad part that needs to be replaced, but he can't be back out for another month! What kind of fly by night operation tells you they have to order a new part that went bad on a 6-week old appliance rather than just replacing the appliance?!? So here we will sit in a brand new house without a working microwave for almost two months. Never had good luck with GE appliances -- they seem to have a short life compared to other brands, and after this experience, we won't be buying GE again. Unfortunate that our builder had to go with them for all kitchen appliances. If we get 8-10 years out of any of them, I will be pleasantly surprised.

Perfect Fit

Was concerned about finding it's replacement that would not only work well, but fit the same opening in our cabinetry. Fits perfectly, easy to install, and works better than I hoped!

Was not used that much either. For the price should have lasted long. May need to buy it again due to the custom built nature of the cabinet.

Perfect replacement for our built-in Microwave

This one with it's built in kit looks great. It has everything we need + a few features that make it more convenient than the previous one. Overall we are very pleased with it.

Day 5: Door latch stopped working - DISAPPOINTING
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had many GE Profile appliances and ordered this one to replace built in, 20 yr old GE Microwave. Had to modify my cabinet some, then to have door latch not work 50% time - Very Frustrating. Worked to take back out of cabt & trim, took back to BestBuy, where they happily ordered a replacement for me. (Usual Great Cust Service!) In spite of door latch, micro works well, good power and good features. I hope the next microwave has better door latch and up to good quality GE stds.

Fast and Sleek Microwave

It has many options and I tried some yet I've to try the rest of the functions. I find interior too dark. The vents inside are open so splatters gets in. At times, moisture beads inside after heating, I wipe it. My former Advantium was bright inside and splatters didn't get in.

Does not last long!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this microwave when we purchased our new home...we have been in our home 3 years and it has been replaced twice. Once before we even moved into the new home because during final walk through the screen had a "PF" code. We are on the 3rd microwave and sure enough a couple month after the warranty runs out the microwave has died once again (looks like the Magnetron which should last 5-6 years but didn't even last two years). We use to like GE appliances but not so sure anymore...Had to purchase a backup microwave before the 2nd one died on us during Thanksgiving. Not please or impressed with GE profile microwave at all...supposedly the top of the line GE appliances.

Not built to last

Defective GE Profile Microwave

The GE representative said she couldn’t help me because the device is no longer under warranty. Today, it stopped working. This microwave didn’t last 3 years. I sent over $1,000 on the microwave and trim kit. Perhaps, I purchased a lemon. However, my last GE profile lasted more than 10 years. The only reason I replaced the original microwave was because the inside developed rust spots.

Display is hard to read- it’s black on black.

$ 400 1 year Disposable Microwave
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this GE profile on 2/20/19 and on 10/30/20, the door button broke and the door won't open and the light inside the microwave remains on. I am not sure why is this microwave on top 5. GE as a brand is complete junk. The repair man is schedule to come on 11/03/20. As the microwave has trim around it, so I cannot open the door, otherwise I would have thrown this piece of junk in the garbage. Please don't buy GE. GE stands for Generally Mediocre.

Do Not Buy This Model
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We purchased in late June 2019 and the door latch soon began to not work properly. It finally failed completely and door will not open at all. Parts are on back order till after February 2020. If you have a model with the same issue and on warranty, report it to G.E. right away so you can either get if fixed or replaced. This problem is well know by GE repair department and is a frequent complaint.
