This is the 2nd GE - Profile Series 27.9 Cu. Ft. Refrigerator in a matter of weeks. Returned first one because from day one it freezes and explodes cans (soda, sparkling waters, etc.) in the convertible drawer (set at 33 degrees). I set it at 37 and still freezes (though not to the point of exploding cans). Had Geek Squad come over and they said it would be a major repair, so best to exchange it. I exchanged it and the replacement also has the same problem. One can that recently expanded (or exploded) cracked the soda tray. I don't know if it's a design flaw, bad luck, or whatever.
Would have given it 4 or 5 stars if the convertible drawer worked properly. Other features seem nice.

Hey there,
We're incredibly sorry to hear that your refrigerator is experiencing issues with the convertible drawer. We certainly understand your concern and recommend these tips. Food load is an important factor. The fresh food drawers and compartment should ideally be at least 1/2 full or more. Freezing is more likely to occur when the refrigerator does not have enough food to absorb the cold air. If the drawer has an adjustable temperature feature and items are freezing, adjust the drawer to a warmer temperature setting. If these tips do not help, service may be needed. You can schedule an appointment by calling 1-800-432-2737. Stay well! Mike@GEA

This refrigerator seems to be operating appropriately, but I’m still waiting for parts that were missing when it was delivered. The geek squad person that delivered. It said that he ordered the part and I would be hearing from somebody within a few days. I’ve heard from nobody and the part is not arrived. The storage bin on my right door cannot be installed until I receive the parts to hold it in place. I went to the store to ask them to order the part and they said they couldn’t because I ordered it online. Still waiting to hear from somebody.

I have had the refrigerator for 14 days. So far I am pleased after a hiccup on day 8. Freezer had frost between freezer drawer and lower freezer area and I could feel cold through door seal. Best Buy suggested returning appliance as it was within their 15 day return policy. Instead I contacted GE repair (and glad I did!!!). GE technician came in within 2 days. He knew immediately that the problem was that the freezer drawer was NOT attached properly. He removed drawer and attached it correctly. This took less than 10 minutes.
As per the overall features: So far I am at least 80% pleased with design. Very happy with adjustable glass shelves. Having prior GE refrigerator, side by side (17 years), this was a feature that I looked for. However, door in door immediately disappointed me. An opened corked wine bottle would not fit and that shelf was NOT ADJUSTABLE. A Geek squad man jokingly said, "That would not be a problem for me as I would finish the wine right away." Not funny! Also: the items in the door in door are not as cold as I enjoy liquids, the ice cubes are small and ice bin maximum is certainly not for entertaining. Takeaway, you get more refrigerator space.
I love the french door wide shelves, lighting is pretty, auto water fill is a treat, easy to wipe off smudges, and appliance is beautiful.

I wasn't sure I would like the door-in-door feature and had been looking for a normal French-Door fridge. But now that we have it, we have really gotten used to it and it is pretty convenient. Milk does actually stay cold in the door. Overall the fridge is very good, with easy to move shelves and lots of space. Very quiet. Water dispenser shoots a little farther out than expected so that's the main downside, but we just hold our cups out a bit away from the switch and it works fine. Good fridge and Best Buy had the best buy for sure!

I recently purchased this refrigerator, and I’m really happy with it so far. It runs quietly, keeps a consistent temperature, and has plenty of space with flexible shelving that makes organization easy. The LED lighting is bright and evenly distributed, and the ice maker works efficiently without taking up too much room. Overall, it’s a great balance of performance, style, and value — definitely a solid upgrade for the kitchen.

I hope you find this rather lengthy review from an engineer informative and helpful.
This GE Profile is our 2nd french door fridge we've owned and have had it now for a month (bought in May 2021). Our previous one, a Whirlpool, only lasted 8 years. I was told in engineering terms by a pretty sharp repair specialist who came to diagnose temperature problems that we were an exception that it lasted that long and that the repair for this problem would likely be only temporary- then told me why. I agreed.
I did a lot of research before buying this GE Profile French Door fridge. Reviews for other brands were often really scary from a reliability standpoint, having nearly as many 1 star reviews as good ones. Not so for this Fridge - and GE fridges in general. My foriginal GE side by side purchased in 1999 for this same house is still working fine (after a defrost timer replacement - a cheap, do-it-yourself repair) and continues to serve as an overflow fridge in the garage. I evidently should have bought a GE in 2013 instead of the Whirlpool.
Reviews for the Profile mentioning an inadequate ice maker have proven false for us. Though we are only a 2 person household now we use a lot of ice living in Phoenix in the summer. The Profile makes it faster than we use it, and keeps it nicely frozen in the bin, not barely frozen like the Whirlpool.
The door-in-door is coming to be a favorite for frequently used things like coffee creamer and a few other things. The swivel-out shelf is proving more useful with time. I like the detail of it, in that you don't have to push it back in. It has a roller on it so you just shut the outer door and the door puts is back. The lack of height adjustability for the bins is sorely missed. Some clever engineer should come up with a way to make the swivel-out bin adjust upward and down to make better use of the bottom bin for taller or shorter items. A wine bottle won't fit there now. It must be put in the area created by the push-back half-shelf which is mostly standard nowadays. The back "light wall" is a bit more quirky than. Backlighting is usually something to avoid to see and read things easily. You need front lighting that is shielded from your eyes for proper contrast. But, I admit it is a comment-from-others talking point and it is is not bothersome to me. The fingerprint resistant stainless is pretty much impervious to finger marks unless you just put on hand cream or something. It stays much better looking than our past SS fridge. The wifey likes!
The center pull-out drawer is the cat's meow due to its easy access and temperature adjustability down to 33°. Cheeses, soft butter and cold cuts all seem fine at 33°, but the beer is oh, so heavenly cold at 33!
The freezer drawers work well and the top bins' roller track design is well-thought-out the way it comes out a bit with the bottom drawer just enough to grab if you want to, or push out of the way if you want to access the bottom bin. I'd like to see the addition of a vacuum break like Samsung has in the handle mechanism to make the initial effort to open the door easier.
The water dispenser is attractive and has a removable drip grate some people have said looks out of place & should have been something other than polished stainless. I disagree. I think it is tasteful and it's easy to wipe off streak-free. I could do without the dispenser area lighting up when you walk by. It's not bothersome, but makes me wonder if something's going to wear out faster from turning on every time someone walks by - which is a lot. I do like that it fades on and fades off. Nice touch. The water auto-fill function is useful as long as you're OK with inconsistent fills that regularly need topping off. The manual says to use a glass that is the same diameter top to bottom. Well... most glasses I own are tapered. The "cold water" dispensed from the dispenser is, sadly, a low point for this fridge. It is lacking in both cold temperature and quantity of cooled water before dispensing at line temperature. Looking at a parts catalog I see that the cooling method is a cylindrical coil mounted in the general area of the ice maker and evidently only holds 8-12 oz even though GE says 12-24. Our fridge had settled at 37°F in the food area after a couple days of making ice, throwing out some, and making it to full. Then, after an overnight of no one opening any door the water stream coming out of the dispenser [being fed with Arizona 90° summer water additionally heated by a 12oz capacity U.V. light on our reverse osmosis system] started at 47° and by the time 8 oz has been dispensed the stream was 57° and rising [toward line temperature]. The result was a disappointing glass of water I would have had to put ice in if I'd been drinking it. I was used to being easily able to get two 12oz glasses of 38° water out of the old Whirlpool without evidence of warming up. Being a retired engineer I've found a solution for the problem to increase the capacity of the GE design by 24 more ounces and lower the dispensed water temp to 39°. You may not have any problem with the dispenser's water temperature if your summer water supply is not hot like Phoenix area city water, and you don't need more than one glass at a time.
The last issue is not an issue at all, but an observation all prospective owners will benefit from knowing. Being an engineer I notice things some others may not. Because my old Whirlpool was the noisiest fridge I've ever had I questioned the sales person about noise, then purposely listened to the compressor and condenser fan noise during initial start-up, ice-making, then just maintaining temperature after everything stabilized. It was a lot quieter than the Whirlpool. But wait, there's more... When in place our fridge sits between a full cabinet to floor support/trim panel on the left that is counter depth. On the right is a base cabinet and counter top with wall cabinet above the counter joined to a small cabinet above the fridge. There is 4 " of space between the fridge top and the overhead cabinet, and I left the recommended 2" behind the fridge. But there is virtually zero space on left and right sides- barely enough to roll it in place.
I had previously observed the air temperature (just on my hand) of the warm air exiting the bottom of the fridge on the right front: quite warm. While making my water modification I pulled the fridge out of its "cubby hole." When I pulled the fridge out I noticed round 3" vents at the bottom-rear on each side of the fridge as well as larger louvers in the removable rear, galvanized-steel bottom access panel for the compressor, condenser fan and condenser coils. Warm air began coming out of the right side round vent now that there was no longer a base cabinet blocking it. If the round, side holes are blocked, as is the case in many kitchens nowadays, the fridge is engineered to draw air in the right side (facing the back) bottom louvers from the 2" space in back, and exhaust hot air out the left side bottom louvers into the back 2" space as well as under the fridge exiting the front right (facing the front). While this works it apparently makes the fridge work harder because of the portion of recirculated hot air going out one side of the rear vent and back in to the other side as intake air. A few minutes after pulling the fridge out I noticed the compressor speed reduce, the condenser fan slow down and the temperature of the air coming out the round vent decrease significantly. That told me it liked getting more fresh air of a cooler nature. So I drilled a 3 1/2" a hole in the left side (facing the front) of my kitchen's full support/vanity panel to coincide with the intake vent on the fridge, then transferred the original vent cover from the fridge to my panel to cover the hole. I also covered the intake air side of the back-bottom vent with 4 mill plastic so that it would stop drawing warm recirculated air from the back of the fridge and draw only cool air from the new unobstructed side vent. Since then, with the fridge pushed back in place in its captive space exposing the fridge's side vent the compressor and condenser fan have continued to run only at a very low speed (quiet as a mouse) while maintaining interior temps: a formula for a happier, longer-lasting compressor and condenser fan.
The proof of quality will be the # of years of reliable service. I'll try to update this review if able to.

I can't say enough good things about this fridge! When our last GE Profile needed replacement after 21 years, we turned to Best Buy. We compared so many brands and models, and our salesman recommended this model to meet our needs. We never owned a French door refrigerator before and we're blown away by the amount of space this has. The lighting on the back wall is incredibly helpful so you can easily see things at the back of the fridge. No more food being pushed to the back and forgotten because we can't see them. The freezer offers plenty of space, and the middle drawer is very useful with its adjustable temperature control. The AutoFill feature on the water dispenser is very convenient. The refrigerator looks beautiful in our kitchen, and we were surprised to find that the doors are magnetic even with the stainless steel finish! We're loving this fridge and are very glad we chose it!

This fridge has been awesome for the few weeks that we have had it. It cools well, is quiet, and very bright inside. We originally had another brand and the water dispenser broke. We opted for this smaller fridge and moved the broken one to the basement for additional storage. For a family of 6, who eats pretty healthy, things can get tight. The door in door feature is nicer than I've seen in others and much easier for my kids access. Also, NO FINGERPRINTS! I mean, there are a few, but way less that what we used to have. One complaint I do have is the weight of this fridge. It is a beast! The movers said so when they moved it in and I often have to go behind my kids to close it because the doors are heavy and a gentle push won't close them. A second inconvenience is the autofill function. It almost never fills our cups. Half full at most...or half empty. :-)Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.

A month in, so far so good. You don't really get to know the quality on a fridge for a year or two or more though.
Nice space inside and I really like the beverage drawer. The split door on the right is a cool feature. Auto fill works well. Keeps thing cold and overall the fridge seems high quality. Time will tell.
I wish the water dispenser had a bigger capacity for cold water. There's only 2 drawers inside which is a bit challenging since they are currently used by us for Vegetables and Fruit. Wish there was one more drawer.

1 month review is this fridge is amazing. It checked all the boxes for us and is a solid fridge. Linked to the app we can monitor and change temps in all three compartments. Runs quite and love the lighting inside and out. Our last fridge did not light the water dispenser and this one does with style. The inside has plenty of space for all our and our kids needs. I was never a fan of the bottom drawer freezers. However I find that this refrigerator is great. I love the extra drawer inside the freezer. The flex refrigerator drawer is very handy. The inside lighting is nice and bright like a show room. The soft close crisper drawers are helpful. The ice maker does tend to shoot ice out in every direction but works well. The automatic water dispenser is very convenient. The outer door on the right has a shelf plenty large enough for a gallon of milk and more. Also has a swing out shelf large enough for large containers of juice or whatever. So far really loving this refrigerator. Would highly recommend.

Best refrigerator I have had in a long time. I have been around a while and had 3 children to test/destroy every house hold appliance we have/had. This refrigerator has a lot of room and runs very quiet. Feature rich and looks great. Ice maker could be a larger, but works great for us. I have stuck with GE over the years because they have lasted longer with less problems. One thing I miss from the old refrigerator was the real time temperature vs the set temperature indication. Overall so far it has been great and wife loves the bottom freezer access and space.

I love this fridge! I use the middle drawer for snacks. It’s the perfect level for the kids to open and get their own snack. The quick grab door for things like milk and juice is amazing. I feel it saves energy by not having to open up the big door. The full lighted back makes it easy to find what you’re looking for. No more food getting shoved to the back and hidden to spoil. I think I keep this fridge more organized just because of the functionality. Freezer is very roomy too. Best feature is the autofill water. It allows me to multi task while I’m filling my cup to walk out the door to work.

Overall, this is a good fridge. We did a lot of research before buying this one, and in general it seems like every brand has certain downfalls. First thing to know about this unit is GE Appliance is now owned by a Chinese company, Haier. So if you want something built and owned American, this isn't it.
Pros: Unit has consistent temperatures. It is also very quiet, noticeably so compared to our old Whirlpool. The door shelves are also designed well and allow for big sized condiment bottles etc. The extra drawer is nice for keeping sodas and meats/cheeses a little cooler than the main compartment. The crisper drawers also seem to keep produce a little fresher than our old one as well. The back wall is a big light which is a lot nicer than one would expect. It really feels luxurious and makes it easier to find things.
Neutral: The door in door seems like a gimmick to me. It doesn't keep any more air in than opening the whole door really so I just don't really understand the point. My wife likes it though.
Cons: The unit runs a little warm. We have it set at 34 (as low as it allows) but the fresh food area stays at about 37. While this is fine as far as being safe etc, it's annoying that it doesn't cool to where it should. It should also be noted that we only know this through the use of thermometers because the unit does not report the current temp anywhere. Conversely to the main section, the middle drawer seems to run a little cooler than how it's set. However, the biggest downfall of this unit is the ice/water dispenser. The dispenser will give you 1 8oz glass of cold water before it starts coming out at room temp. Our old fridge would give glass after glass of cold water. Additionally, the ice maker makes smaller cubes that I would like and worse, appears to partially crush them even when set on cubed. Also, the Wi-Fi is pretty useless, basically gives you the same controls as on the front panel, though it does have Turbo Cool and Turbo Freeze modes buried in the app.
Overall, we are happy with the unit and would buy it again. It seems that all brands have certain things you just have to deal with. For the GEs it's the warm water and kinda crappy ice dispenser. If you can deal with that, the rest of the fridge is very good.
