I hope you find this rather lengthy review from an engineer informative and helpful. This GE Profile is our 2nd french door fridge we've owned and have had it now for a month (bought in May 2021). Our previous one, a Whirlpool, only lasted 8 years. I was told in engineering terms by a pretty sharp repair specialist who came to diagnose temperature problems that we were an exception that it lasted that long and that the repair for this problem would likely be only temporary- then told me why. I agreed. I did a lot of research before buying this GE Profile French Door fridge. Reviews for other brands were often really scary from a reliability standpoint, having nearly as many 1 star reviews as good ones. Not so for this Fridge - and GE fridges in general. My foriginal GE side by side purchased in 1999 for this same house is still working fine (after a defrost timer replacement - a cheap, do-it-yourself repair) and continues to serve as an overflow fridge in the garage. I evidently should have bought a GE in 2013 instead of the Whirlpool. Reviews for the Profile mentioning an inadequate ice maker have proven false for us. Though we are only a 2 person household now we use a lot of ice living in Phoenix in the summer. The Profile makes it faster than we use it, and keeps it nicely frozen in the bin, not barely frozen like the Whirlpool. The door-in-door is coming to be a favorite for frequently used things like coffee creamer and a few other things. The swivel-out shelf is proving more useful with time. I like the detail of it, in that you don't have to push it back in. It has a roller on it so you just shut the outer door and the door puts is back. The lack of height adjustability for the bins is sorely missed. Some clever engineer should come up with a way to make the swivel-out bin adjust upward and down to make better use of the bottom bin for taller or shorter items. A wine bottle won't fit there now. It must be put in the area created by the push-back half-shelf which is mostly standard nowadays. The back "light wall" is a bit more quirky than. Backlighting is usually something to avoid to see and read things easily. You need front lighting that is shielded from your eyes for proper contrast. But, I admit it is a comment-from-others talking point and it is is not bothersome to me. The fingerprint resistant stainless is pretty much impervious to finger marks unless you just put on hand cream or something. It stays much better looking than our past SS fridge. The wifey likes! The center pull-out drawer is the cat's meow due to its easy access and temperature adjustability down to 33°. Cheeses, soft butter and cold cuts all seem fine at 33°, but the beer is oh, so heavenly cold at 33! The freezer drawers work well and the top bins' roller track design is well-thought-out the way it comes out a bit with the bottom drawer just enough to grab if you want to, or push out of the way if you want to access the bottom bin. I'd like to see the addition of a vacuum break like Samsung has in the handle mechanism to make the initial effort to open the door easier. The water dispenser is attractive and has a removable drip grate some people have said looks out of place & should have been something other than polished stainless. I disagree. I think it is tasteful and it's easy to wipe off streak-free. I could do without the dispenser area lighting up when you walk by. It's not bothersome, but makes me wonder if something's going to wear out faster from turning on every time someone walks by - which is a lot. I do like that it fades on and fades off. Nice touch. The water auto-fill function is useful as long as you're OK with inconsistent fills that regularly need topping off. The manual says to use a glass that is the same diameter top to bottom. Well... most glasses I own are tapered. The "cold water" dispensed from the dispenser is, sadly, a low point for this fridge. It is lacking in both cold temperature and quantity of cooled water before dispensing at line temperature. Looking at a parts catalog I see that the cooling method is a cylindrical coil mounted in the general area of the ice maker and evidently only holds 8-12 oz even though GE says 12-24. Our fridge had settled at 37°F in the food area after a couple days of making ice, throwing out some, and making it to full. Then, after an overnight of no one opening any door the water stream coming out of the dispenser [being fed with Arizona 90° summer water additionally heated by a 12oz capacity U.V. light on our reverse osmosis system] started at 47° and by the time 8 oz has been dispensed the stream was 57° and rising [toward line temperature]. The result was a disappointing glass of water I would have had to put ice in if I'd been drinking it. I was used to being easily able to get two 12oz glasses of 38° water out of the old Whirlpool without evidence of warming up. Being a retired engineer I've found a solution for the problem to increase the capacity of the GE design by 24 more ounces and lower the dispensed water temp to 39°. You may not have any problem with the dispenser's water temperature if your summer water supply is not hot like Phoenix area city water, and you don't need more than one glass at a time. The last issue is not an issue at all, but an observation all prospective owners will benefit from knowing. Being an engineer I notice things some others may not. Because my old Whirlpool was the noisiest fridge I've ever had I questioned the sales person about noise, then purposely listened to the compressor and condenser fan noise during initial start-up, ice-making, then just maintaining temperature after everything stabilized. It was a lot quieter than the Whirlpool. But wait, there's more... When in place our fridge sits between a full cabinet to floor support/trim panel on the left that is counter depth. On the right is a base cabinet and counter top with wall cabinet above the counter joined to a small cabinet above the fridge. There is 4 " of space between the fridge top and the overhead cabinet, and I left the recommended 2" behind the fridge. But there is virtually zero space on left and right sides- barely enough to roll it in place. I had previously observed the air temperature (just on my hand) of the warm air exiting the bottom of the fridge on the right front: quite warm. While making my water modification I pulled the fridge out of its "cubby hole." When I pulled the fridge out I noticed round 3" vents at the bottom-rear on each side of the fridge as well as larger louvers in the removable rear, galvanized-steel bottom access panel for the compressor, condenser fan and condenser coils. Warm air began coming out of the right side round vent now that there was no longer a base cabinet blocking it. If the round, side holes are blocked, as is the case in many kitchens nowadays, the fridge is engineered to draw air in the right side (facing the back) bottom louvers from the 2" space in back, and exhaust hot air out the left side bottom louvers into the back 2" space as well as under the fridge exiting the front right (facing the front). While this works it apparently makes the fridge work harder because of the portion of recirculated hot air going out one side of the rear vent and back in to the other side as intake air. A few minutes after pulling the fridge out I noticed the compressor speed reduce, the condenser fan slow down and the temperature of the air coming out the round vent decrease significantly. That told me it liked getting more fresh air of a cooler nature. So I drilled a 3 1/2" a hole in the left side (facing the front) of my kitchen's full support/vanity panel to coincide with the intake vent on the fridge, then transferred the original vent cover from the fridge to my panel to cover the hole. I also covered the intake air side of the back-bottom vent with 4 mill plastic so that it would stop drawing warm recirculated air from the back of the fridge and draw only cool air from the new unobstructed side vent. Since then, with the fridge pushed back in place in its captive space exposing the fridge's side vent the compressor and condenser fan have continued to run only at a very low speed (quiet as a mouse) while maintaining interior temps: a formula for a happier, longer-lasting compressor and condenser fan. The proof of quality will be the # of years of reliable service. I'll try to update this review if able to.

This refrigerator is a great purchase. I previously owned a side-by-side which limits you on space in the refrigerator and in its freezer, especially during the holidays. I waited several years for my side-by-side to breakdown, but it is a good quality made product and it's still in working condition to this day. So I finally talked my husband into allowing me to purchase a new French Door refrigerator which I originally wanted when we bought our last refrigerator and I'm so happy with this GE brand. I did a lot of research before making my choice. This GE refrigerator has tons of space inside. We love the door-in-door option. The ice maker is very adequate for our needs and I love the "auto on" light when you walk up to the unit, especially during the night. The "auto fill" is quite a nice option as well. The ice cubes are small half moon size which I personally like better than the large half-moon size that always got in the way when drinking my beverage. The freezer has enough space in it for the needs of a family of four. I highly recommend this refrigerator. Oh, and by the way, it is soooooo quite when running and even the ice maker when dropping its ice is VERY quite. My previous refrigerator that is still in great working condition is being sold to a close friend of mine. When you buy quality it is worth the money and the product will last you a long long time. GE has a very good reputation and I hope they continue to improve on that reputation by developing products that the consumer can rely on and enjoy for many years.

This GE Profile refrigerator has mostly exceeded my expectations. We think it actually keeps our food fresher for longer than our previous refrigerator. We appreciate the separate deli drawer with its changeable temperature and the fact that we don’t have to open both refrigerator doors to get the food/drinks stored in there. One negative: the ice maker produces very, very little (do better, GE!). It does, however, offer choice of crushed or cubed ice. Best Buy delivery was terrible. The delivery guys just wanted to drop off and leave. They tried to tell me that the fridge was level when the doors were askew and it obviously was not. Then said that we had no valve for the water line so they couldn't install that. We do have a water valve, which is in the basement and is up to code. Then requested a bucket and towel to hook up the water line, but would not wait 30 seconds while we retrieved them, opened the line, and sprayed water all over our brand new hardwood floor. Then said he could not hook it up because of water pressure in the line. It was just the water left in the line, but the valve had been turned off. (Do better BB! Get your own delivery crew rather than third-party contractors!) Be aware that the hinge on top of the door goes back from the front quite a way, so allow room for it in your height calculation.

This is a such a great refrigerator! I replaced my 19-year old GE Profile side-by-side and this feels like a huge upgrade. I bought it after a careful review and this fits my family’s needs very well. We like the backlit wall, the ultra spacious fridge part. We find it so convenient to have our cheese, eggs, etc. in the snack drawer. I like the door-in-door feature and the skinny shelves on the left are perfect for condiment bottles. Everything stored inside is so easy to see! Soon after getting this, we had a party and a full sheet cake fit along with the box the cake came in!! My only minor complaint is the top drawer on the freezer - I have yet to figure out it’s mechanism as it tends to get locked or stuck and not able to move in the rail in order to push out. It’s not a problem for us since we moved our old refrigerator to the garage and have ample freezer space. Yes, it’s a little expensive but we have always had good experiences with GE appliances and keep them for a long time. We did not seriously consider any other manufacturer.

Overall, this is a good fridge. We did a lot of research before buying this one, and in general it seems like every brand has certain downfalls. First thing to know about this unit is GE Appliance is now owned by a Chinese company, Haier. So if you want something built and owned American, this isn't it. Pros: Unit has consistent temperatures. It is also very quiet, noticeably so compared to our old Whirlpool. The door shelves are also designed well and allow for big sized condiment bottles etc. The extra drawer is nice for keeping sodas and meats/cheeses a little cooler than the main compartment. The crisper drawers also seem to keep produce a little fresher than our old one as well. The back wall is a big light which is a lot nicer than one would expect. It really feels luxurious and makes it easier to find things. Neutral: The door in door seems like a gimmick to me. It doesn't keep any more air in than opening the whole door really so I just don't really understand the point. My wife likes it though. Cons: The unit runs a little warm. We have it set at 34 (as low as it allows) but the fresh food area stays at about 37. While this is fine as far as being safe etc, it's annoying that it doesn't cool to where it should. It should also be noted that we only know this through the use of thermometers because the unit does not report the current temp anywhere. Conversely to the main section, the middle drawer seems to run a little cooler than how it's set. However, the biggest downfall of this unit is the ice/water dispenser. The dispenser will give you 1 8oz glass of cold water before it starts coming out at room temp. Our old fridge would give glass after glass of cold water. Additionally, the ice maker makes smaller cubes that I would like and worse, appears to partially crush them even when set on cubed. Also, the Wi-Fi is pretty useless, basically gives you the same controls as on the front panel, though it does have Turbo Cool and Turbo Freeze modes buried in the app. Overall, we are happy with the unit and would buy it again. It seems that all brands have certain things you just have to deal with. For the GEs it's the warm water and kinda crappy ice dispenser. If you can deal with that, the rest of the fridge is very good.

I can't say enough good things about this fridge! When our last GE Profile needed replacement after 21 years, we turned to Best Buy. We compared so many brands and models, and our salesman recommended this model to meet our needs. We never owned a French door refrigerator before and we're blown away by the amount of space this has. The lighting on the back wall is incredibly helpful so you can easily see things at the back of the fridge. No more food being pushed to the back and forgotten because we can't see them. The freezer offers plenty of space, and the middle drawer is very useful with its adjustable temperature control. The AutoFill feature on the water dispenser is very convenient. The refrigerator looks beautiful in our kitchen, and we were surprised to find that the doors are magnetic even with the stainless steel finish! We're loving this fridge and are very glad we chose it!

This was to replace a GEProfile from 2009, similar design except for the middle drawer which we are using for beverages and it works great. It is tight in the space from our previous refrigerator due to the half door to access frequently used items. The lighting in the refrigerator is great and it is quiet. The finger print resistant stainless is just that! Only downside is that the ice cubes are small and you have to open both doors most times to get to something. Overall very pleased.

So far, this refrigerator has been wonderful. It has performed as advertised and it looks great. The functions keys are clean and legible. Its been quiet, and it simply performs. I wasn't sure I would like the door-in-door feature and had been looking for a normal French-Door fridge. But now that we have it, we have really gotten used to it and it is pretty convenient. Milk does actually stay cold in the door. Overall the fridge is very good, with easy to move shelves and lots of space. Very quiet. Water dispenser shoots a little farther out than expected so that's the main downside, but we just hold our cups out a bit away from the switch and it works fine. Good fridge and Best Buy had the best buy for sure!

The Refrigerator: Bought this 9/2/2024 it was installed 9/7/2024 (Bestbuy will do it for you if you are a part of the ("My Best Buy Total @$179.99 per year. Almost all things you buy get a free install with this membership including even hanging tv's)) This fridge has been solid so far, we have abused it since I have (2) little ladies who like to put our appliances through a solid build and durability test as they grow and mature. The inside back light is a real solid feature making it easy to see inside. The doors have held up thus far as well as the drawers which have also been asked to support the weight of a 5y and 4y old human since they love to climb on them even after repeated instruction not too. It is quiet and has all the things needed/required of a typical refrigeration unit. When comparing it against the "higher tiered" offerings I felt like this unit held up better and just felt much more solid than the other more "expensive" fridges. 5 stars from me since I have had 0 issues and 0 complaints with how this fridge has served me.

I’ve had my new refrigerator for a few weeks and so far it’s been great. I’m very pleased with the performance so far. This is my second GE Profile French-Door refrigerator I’ve had — the first one lasted for 14 years, and was still operating when I replaced it with this model, so if I get as many years out of this new one I’ll be thrilled with that. This new model has an additional 3 sq feet of space which is great. I love the light wall and the temperature-controlled deli/snack/meat drawer is wonderful. The freezer section is fabulous — My other freezer drawers were “packed” but with my new GE Profile, I still have plenty of room. The “in-door” icemaker is a plus, and the “metal” mechanism is a real plus, so much better and sturdier than plastic — I love the fact that it doesn’t take up a shelf in the fridge or take up room in the bottom freezer, and removal of the ice bucket is very easy. I had read some reviews prior to my purchase that said the water filter was difficult to change, but when I checked that out, I didn’t experience any problems with that. The shelves are wider, which is nice, but the one thing that would make them better is “if they slid out” (my old GE Profile offered that feature, and it really came in handy). I looked for this feature in other manufacturers and no one offers this feature — maybe GE will bring it back. I really like the “soft-close” drawers. The “door-in-door” feature on the right side of the refrigerator is okay — it wasn’t a make or break deal for me — so far, I’ve probably only utilized it a couple of times — maybe because it’s just not something I’m accustomed to, but once I’ve had the unit longer I’ll use it more. Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase, but I really wish they had offered this model in “Black Stainless”!

I loved this refrigerator at first but from the get go things stopped working. First the alarm for open door would ring when doors were closed. Finally shut off alarm. Next the light for cubed ice went out after about a year. Next I noticed the slide out shelf was broken, a shelf had a crack and the rubber molding on door was ripped. I treated this appliance with care and not abuse. On delivery there was small dents on back that I ignored. For a premium priced refrigerator, these items should never have happened within 3 years. Purchased new in late feb 2022.

Love my new GE refrigerator! The design is wonderful and there’s novo much space. The door within the door feature is one I didn’t think I would use much but ended up being my favorite feature. The only negatives so far are that the refrigerated drawer freezes things toward the back if you use the pre set button for meat and the right side door has to be closed with a little force...you can’t just give it a little shove. That being said, I’d still say the pros far outweigh the cons and I would buy it again.

I love this refrigerator!! The drawer is awesome but I love the door in door feature almost as much. It is so roomy. I had a GE Profile that was falling apart. Wanted to stay with this brand because I had such good luck with my previous refrigerator. But feel like I got an upgrade! It is so well designed -- I put everything that was in my other refrigerator with room to spare. I cannot wait for the holidays. All my dishes will fit in my new refrigerator. Such a great purchase. I love Best Buy too. I purchased on Sunday and it was delivered on Wednesday. The guys who delivered were so professional and had it up and running in no time. The interior layout is very practical, with adjustable shelves that make it easy to store tall bottles and larger items. The cooling is consistent, and it quickly reached the right temperature after installation. It’s also surprisingly quiet, which is a big plus. The added space compared to our previous fridge is noticeable, and the organization features like the deep drawers and door bins make everyday use very convenient. Overall, it’s a fantastic choice if you’re looking for a reliable, spacious, and stylish refrigerator.

Fridge is amazing. We got a new home last year and we hated the fridge that came with the house. Same size fridge but somehow can hold so much more than our old one. Light it the back makes a huge difference. Smallest complaint is a small ice maker.
