GE Profile Refrigerator

After being set up and fully stocked, we realized the freezer was accumulating frost everyday. This was from a seal around the freezer door that was crushed and compromised. At the same time, the ice maker began making a screeching noise as it ran. We went back to Best Buy and they were great about exchanging it for a new unit. Our frustration was that we had to schedule another delivery as well as empty the unit completely… again. When the second unit arrived and the installation was about 50% completed, we realized there was a ding in the top corner of the door, a large dent in the middle drawer door and the refrigerator door seal was crushed and compromised just like the other unit. After speaking with customer service, they agreed to send out a THIRD refrigerator 2 days later. We had to make arrangements for yet another delivery and set up. When the 3rd unit arrived, we inspected it before they brought it in. We noticed there was no pin/screw on the top of the door. It was only held on the unit by the magnet strip. The driver called dispatch and they agreed to use a pin from the 2nd unit that was already on their truck. It ended up working and the unit is now fully functional and working in our kitchen. It just took a while to get a fully functional fridge and we are weary that something else may go wrong. Other than that, we love the size and functionality.

Doors don’t line up

Disappointing for such an expensive refrigerator.

Faulty, damaged and unacceptable GE response

However, mine was delivered faulty and damaged. GE will replace the faulty part but will not repair the damage because it is considered cosmetic and was not reported within 7 days. The faulty part is the control damper for the convertible drawer. The drawer temperature remained well below freezing and typically around 22 deg F even when set at 42 degrees. The "cosmetic" damage is insulating foam that was over sprayed onto the sealing surface for the door-in-door. This keeps the door from sealing fully. The spray is nearly the same color as the surface and I only noticed it by touch. It is clearly their problem and not something I did. Submitting a repair request with GE is fast and easy and I got a visit very quickly as well. However, once the repair man submitted his report I had to call GE to find out how it was adjudicated. After the first call I thought I was being told the over sprayed part would be replaced along with the damper but then found out it would not because of the 7 day reporting requirement. I will be returning this defective refrigerator to Best Buy for a replacement. Hopefully, the next one will be in better condition. I will have to closely inspect it upon delivery. If you buy one of these, check the convertible drawer temperature since it apparently has a history of problems. And carefully look for "cosmetic" damage during the first week. One last issue with Best Buy. I called them to ask about returning the item and was assured I could do that. While I was on hold with them I wanted to see the availability and noticed a price drop. I asked about a price match but was told that because I bought it at a discounted price I couldn't get the price match unless I actually returned the refrigerator. This makes no sense. Now that I've talked with GE and know I'm returning it I see that the price has gone up so I won't be getting the price match I requested two days ago. I've previously gotten price matches on items I bought on sale so it seems they just wanted to delay me since the price was going up in a day or so.

Still waiting on missing parts.

The geek squad person that delivered. It said that he ordered the part and I would be hearing from somebody within a few days. I’ve heard from nobody and the part is not arrived. The storage bin on my right door cannot be installed until I receive the parts to hold it in place. I went to the store to ask them to order the part and they said they couldn’t because I ordered it online. Still waiting to hear from somebody.

If it wasn’t for that wave

The water dispenser you can just leave a glass or a picture up there and it automatically refills. The light in the back of the refrigerator. The way to open up the outside of the fridge raider to get what you want The Middle drawer to keep my cheeses, etc. The only thing that we didn’t like was the Refrigerated door on the right had a wave to it which you could feel and looked like it was dented. It’s hard to describe. Refrigerator door panel was told could not be replaced. I would have to replaced the whole refrigerator. We were hesitant in returning it but I know looking at that door bothered us a lot.

Beautiful but not up to par

First the alarm for open door would ring when doors were closed. Finally shut off alarm. Next the light for cubed ice went out after about a year. Next I noticed the slide out shelf was broken, a shelf had a crack and the rubber molding on door was ripped. I treated this appliance with care and not abuse. On delivery there was small dents on back that I ignored. For a premium priced refrigerator, these items should never have happened within 3 years. Purchased new in late feb 2022.

Nice but not worth the high price tag

Water tastes TERRIBLE, ice cubes are extra small and melt fast. Also the ice flies everywhere. Love the look of it, love the space, live the light wall, autofill is nice too. Overall we like it. Just disappointed the water/ice aspect of it.

I am an airline pilot and was on a trip recently after receiving the refrigerator. Not more than a week after it was installed, received notification from app that my freezer was not working. I got home four days later and it was definitely not working. Refrigerator portion was okay but freezer was warm with ice melting out of door. Best Buy is replacing it with same model but I have to wait another 3 weeks so it is not ideal. Not sure for a $3000 purchase that you should have to go through this ordeal.

Ice maker not working

It made one batch of ice and then would not make anymore after I dumped it out. I called and had a tech come out and he said it should be working but didn't know what needed to be done to fix it. They said they's swap it out with a new fridge. We had to push the swap back due to weather. I rescheduled for (1/9/2025) and never got a confirmation email. It is now (1/10/2025) so I'll have to call back and schedule a new date for the swap it looks like.

Good fridge, slow ice maker.

It is a great fridge, lots of room and options for storage, but the reason for the 3 star review is because the ice maker is extremely slow and the cubes don't seem to form fully.

Disappointed but hoping to resolve with tech help

I love the fridge itself- just need a good one that doesn’t do this. For 3k, it shouldn’t.

(wanted) working refrigerator!

But the story doesn’t end there. The first unit we purchased was a floor model and the price was reduced. It seems it was crushed at the warehouse or during transport and was not repairable. The store offered to replace it,” at the extra cost of a new one”. So we paid the full price. The fridge was delivered and we loved it. Right up to when it just stoped running. Just my luck my $4,000 dollar unit died after three weeks. We are now waiting for the repairs,

The GE Profile Swings for the Fences but Misses

After visiting a few stores and reading a few reviews, we landed on the GE Profile™ 27.9 Cu. Ft. Smart Fingerprint Resistant 4-Door French-Door Refrigerator with Door In Door. It's now been a month or two of using it and I can say I don't like it as much as I liked the LG. It's nearly 3cuft smaller, the freezer door isn't smooth to shut, and the "door in a door" isn't nearly as useful as i thought it would be. The middle drawer has a divider that is absolutely useless and clunky. On the plus side, I do like the lighted back panel at the back of the fridge. And the freezer compartment is laid out well.

Had to settle

Plus repaired one and even the repaired part sent had a dent. Ultimately gave up and keep the last one delivered. I don’t fault Best Buy as I watched them open the boxes off the delivery truck. This is a GE issue. Like the fridge otherwise. Time will tell if it’s lasts.

2nd GE Refrigerator in less than 1 month!

This is a replacement for the GE Profile - 27.7 Cu. Ft. French-Door Refrigerator Stainless steel Model:PFE28KYNFS which I had for less than 2 weeks and the compressor went bad and was told replacement part was not available. I would have had to wait over 3 weeks for the same model which is why I chose the 4 door French Door Model PVD28BYNFS which was available for delivery within 2 days. Have to wait 1 week for the service appointment. Seriously considering to completely replace the refrigerator with an LG or Samsung at this point.

Nice looking fridge, but mine has issues early on

I got this refrigerator from the best buy outlet on Oct 6th, delivery and set up were no problem... the problem is that I've only had it for a few weeks and there's already issues with it. For starters, the control panel was unglued from the side making the controls unresponsive at times. I tried re-gluing it but can't get it quite right. The biggest problem, however, is with the bottom freezer. It started making a (fan?) noise a week ago, I called GE for the one year manufacturer warranty and thankfully someone came to look at it. The issue is when the freezer is closed, the fan kicks in and it is very loud... according to the repair guy who took a look at it, it could be the motor. The whole assembly will be replaced. They have yet to fix it since the parts need to be ordered. The noise is definitely noticeable, especially when the house is quiet throughout the night. Very annoying, definitely not a normal function of this unit, I would have noticed it on the floor model at the store... which was plugged in. I'm glad it's getting repaired under warranty, however, this shouldn't even be happening imo. I got the fridge at a steep discount since it is an open item.... but I feel like at any price point, something that's new shouldn't be having problems so soon. I hope that's not the case with every owner of this fridge. The repair company sent by the warranty team said they would get my two issues (noise & control panel) fixed.... but that is still pending. I'll update my review once they've fixed it.

You may want to stay away...

However this GE Profile fridge has issues. From the beginning the freezer kept frosting up. Called GE and this model has issues with the rails on the freezer door. GE is going to fix it, but beware if you are buying this one.

GE Quality no more.

The GE refrigerator although functioning as prescribed, quality is lacking. Doors and drawers require extra effort to close.Creating a slamming effect.

Installation was not included even though I asked. When it arrived, they would not install event though I talked to customer service. They said it would not fit and it did. The delivery staff was very rude.
