Great portable AC Unit
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've always had a room in my house that just won't get cool. No matter what I do, there is always a considerable temperature difference in this room and the rest of the house. I've been looking for a while to find an easy solution that truly solves this problem. This AC unit seems to have done the trick. It has worked great to cool a relatively large playroom on my second story. The unit itself functions really well. It is easy to set up and operate. It comes with all of the pieces needed to connect the unit to a window and seal in the vents so that you don't lose much AC through the window. All you have to do is connect the vent to a window and plug it in, setup is that easy. The unit has a built in thermostat that allows you to set the temp and forget. the unit cools a room quickly and does so in a relatively quit way. I haven't noticed a ton of noise from the unit. Overall, I'm really impressed with this portable AC units ability to cool a room quickly. The only downside is the amount of room it takes up. It is pretty large and given how the vent attaches the window it does not sit flush with the wall. If you are able to live with that, this will do a good job keeping you cool.

Cool and Easy to Operate Quiet?
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We only need AC in our place and our area of the world for a limited period during hotter months here, thankfully, so we do not have central air in our area. This means we need to use portable AC units. These floor based widow units are better for our needs than the "window shakers". Our last unit worked well from a cooling standpoint, once you got used to the noise. It was pretty loud, but turned into that sleep noise eventually. This GE Profile is sooooo quiet!! When this is running it is almost quiet enough versus our previous unit that I had to check multiple times that it was on, I'm not making that up. There is a sound it does make that I really didn't hear until my wife decided it bothered her. Once she pointed it out, I heard it, slight dripping water sound and a squeak or something that really isn't that noticeable. It cools better and more efficiently than our previous unit. Programmable settings, remote and phone app are also nice, conveniences this unit offers over our previous one. We are overall quite happy with this purchase to replace the jet engine like noisy unit we replaced!

Running Well And Feeling Cool
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We just bought a home and it does not have an air conditioner in the house so getting this came at the perfect time. The downstairs rooms stay nice and cool but the upstairs rooms stay nice and toasty. I wanted to only cool down two rooms and this made it easy to keep everything nice and cool. Moving the unit itself is easy and thankfully this has wheels on it. The unit overall is quite heavy but the wheels really help me move it around with ease. Setup: Setup took around 7 minutes and was easy with the tools that I already had around the house. Having the app is helpful as well and it is nice to precool the room if I am out and about outside of the house. Noise/Vibration: There seems to be a bit of noise and vibration from the unit itself but isn’t anything that is too noisy at all. I would compare it to an older box fan or something along those lines. I have the unit set on a carpet so maybe that helps a little bit. Drain Plug: I like that there is an easy to access drain plug and so far I have not had to use it yet. It seems easy enough to use and I like that there is a warning indicator on the unit for when you do have to drain the unit. Overall I would recommend this unit for anybody looking to cool down a living room or bedrooms. This unit would be perfect. One thing to note as well is when I first turned on the unit there was a metal clanking sound and sounds like a piece is in there somewhere but I haven’t heard the noise since.

Great for room
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I think one of my favorite things about this is that you can control it while you are away. I can leave for work and if it is a nice hot day, I can then use the app and turn this on and by the time I get home have my room nice and cool. Same if just out and about. You don't have to leave your AC on, just turn it on when you are ready. This also seems to cool my room a bit faster than my other Unit. I believe that could be due to having the 2 hoses. Even if I left my room door open, my room still feels cool when I get home. I live in an apt. and have the master bedroom. It is maybe just a little bigger then 2 king size beds. I also like that they still provided a remote control. I find this sometimes easier to use to turn it on and off when in bed instead of having to use phone and unlock my phone and then open the app up. If I am wanting to do more than just turn ac on, than the app is great to use. Like if you want to set timers up. With summertime, I get home around the same time so I can set this Mon-Fri to turn on 15 min. before I get home and then if I happen to work on my day off, I can then go in and manually turn it on when I am heading home. the 2 hoses are nice, but it was a tad bit harder to set it up in the window. But was still fairly easy to do. Overall, I am well please with this ac unit, and I recommend getting.

Great air conditioner that cools
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The GE Profile 450 Sq. Ft. 10,000 BTU Smart Portable Air Conditioner is a great unit for cooling any small to medium size room. It comes with Inverter Technology for Energy Savings. The unit comes well packaged in a box that was shipped to my home with no issues. However, the box is extremely heavy due to the weight of the air container and the other contents inside of the box. The unit comes with 2 hoses that come out the back of the unit and to be vented outside. One hose pushes heat from the air container outside while the other hose brings in fresh air from outside instead of recirculating the same air inside of the room its in. The air conditioner can be paired with the GE app, which allows you to control the unit from your smart phone or device. The air conditioner does a great job cooling the room it’s in. I have a room that’s not getting as much air as the other rooms in the house, and it tends to get a bit warm during very hot summer days. Having this unit in the room to help cool it off was definitely much cheaper than what a Heating & Air company quoted me to get adequate air to that room. The air conditioner runs quiet and does a great job cooling. So far I’m happy with it.

Cools a small space quickly
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I put this is a small, metal outdoor shop, and it has made a world of difference so far this summer. I live in the south, and the heat and humidity can put a strain on even the best ACs, but this unit keeps the area cool with minimal effort. Once you get past the weight and getting it out of the box (I'm a small woman and needed help), it is easy to set up with the window insert. It is very heavy, but easy to move around on the concrete floor. Operation is straight forward when using the remote, and it cools 300 square foot metal shop building quickly. It has smart features accessible with the app, but given the small size of the outbuilding, I didn't really have much use for them. Having the remote control for operation from across the room was convenient though. You can definitely hear it when its operating at its highest setting, but it isn't unpleasantly loud. Despite the weight, it doesn't take up much room, and the sleek appearance means it isn't an eye sore if you wanted to place it in a heavy traffic area of your house.

Great unit, cools to super cool temps.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The GE Profile Portable Air Conditioner is overall a great unit with minor flaws. Overall, I would recommend this unit to anyone trying to keep a room nice and cool and free of humidity. While I live in an arid climate, we have what is called evaporative coolers, and I keep the air conditioning unit in my bedroom. So, naturally, during the day, the door stays open and the moisture from the evaporative cooler goes into the bedroom, and the moisture from my showers is in the bedroom, so the dehumidifying feature helps a ton. However, the main reason for this unit was not for the dehumidifying feature but for the air conditioning feature. Now let me tell you, the air conditioning feature is amazing, it keeps my room nice and cool, so cool that my wife says it feels like a freezer, but I sleep nice and cool. The air conditioning app allows you to schedule times for the unit to turn on, off, and set the temperature down to only 64 degrees farenheight. Does the unit cool? Absolutely, does the unit work as stated? You bet. Here's the kicker: do a dry fit of all the pieces before installing them into the window. Also, the instructions are very vague, so hopefully you have done this. If not, don't worry, there are plenty of videos online to show you how to do it correctly.

Compact but mighty
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This air conditioner is good for a small space. It takes a little while for it to get cool, but once it does, you can really feel the difference. For context, I’m in sunny California, and it can get really hot and humid here. Having air conditioning is key, and if you don’t have central AC, it can be tough to deal with the scorching hot temperatures in the summer and the heatwaves. That’s why this air conditioner is perfect. It’s compact enough to not take up too much space, the set up is not too hard and on par with our air conditioning systems if its kind, and it really does make the room feel cooler. I’d estimate it takes about 15-30 minutes before you feel the full difference, but absolutely worth it if you’re in the market for an air conditioning system and you live in a place where it is consistently hot and not sufficient enough to just crack open a window or turn on a fan. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my experience with this air conditioner and I anticipate getting a good couple of years of use from it.

Multiple Problems Out of the Box
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recommend staying away from this unit until GE refines this product. The AC init was easy enough to set up and only had a few parts to assemble, but after turning it on the fun began. First off, the unit made a loud vibration and clicking before the fan got up to full speed. Not a show stopper, but I would prefer a quieter startup. When running, its pretty quiet. Second issue: when moving the unit, be careful not to pull the hoses too hard as they pop out from the AC unit. I moved the AC unit about 2 feet right, and the inlet air hose popped free. It took a little but of elboe grease to get it back on, but overll the intake/exhaust hoses are not well sealed to the unit. Finally, it developed a leak. I noticed water pooling under the unit when I moved it. Upon further inspection, it was leaking water from the bottom. I tightened up all of the drain ports, but still, small leaking from under the unit. Needless to say, recommend staying away from this AC model.

It's Cool...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So back in the day (and even today), a lot of people's solution to single room air-conditioning, were the boxy, clunky, hang it in the window, ugly boxes... We had to find ways to prop them, and not drop them, run the extension cord, just to get some modest air-conditioning. Well these units are now available, and they work very very well. More appealing in the room, as it is sleek, and can be positioned a little better, without having to run think heavy extension cords... BUT.. you do still need to be near a window. VERY easy to setup, if you have a vertical window (up and down opening), crank windows, you will have some challenges with setting this up. Once the vent is in the window, and secure... you ready to go. Turn it on and role. Cold air starts to come up in just a few moments. Not silent, but not crazy loud either. Not like those older style units, that you could hear from blocks away. I was using this in a work space, that didn't have central air vents... and in 10-15 minutes, you could feel the difference in temperature. Over the next hour, it was very comfortable. It is heavy though... so you are not going to be moving this up and down stairs, so it is portable in the sense, that you can move it around to fit the room better, but you are not going to use it in one room, then take to another, then move it to another floor, etc. So this is a good fit, for a home that needs extra air-con, or a work shop, or an insulated garage.

Not Worth the Hype or the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Most of the glowing reviews that I read prior to purchasing this GE Profile portable AC came from customers who received the unit for free—which explains a lot. Unfortunately, my experience has been the opposite. Like other recent GE appliances I’ve purchased, this one has been beyond a letdown. The installation instructions are vague and leave out key details, especially for something that should be a simple window setup. No support videos are available, and customer service has been less than helpful. Once I got it running, it made a loud rattling noise—definitely not suitable for a bedroom. $600 down the drain.
