The GE Profile Portable Air Conditioner is overall a great unit with minor flaws.
Overall, I would recommend this unit to anyone trying to keep a room nice and cool and free of humidity. While I live in an arid climate, we have what is called evaporative coolers, and I keep the air conditioning unit in my bedroom. So, naturally, during the day, the door stays open and the moisture from the evaporative cooler goes into the bedroom, and the moisture from my showers is in the bedroom, so the dehumidifying feature helps a ton.
However, the main reason for this unit was not for the dehumidifying feature but for the air conditioning feature. Now let me tell you, the air conditioning feature is amazing, it keeps my room nice and cool, so cool that my wife says it feels like a freezer, but I sleep nice and cool. The air conditioning app allows you to schedule times for the unit to turn on, off, and set the temperature down to only 64 degrees farenheight.
Does the unit cool? Absolutely, does the unit work as stated? You bet. Here's the kicker: do a dry fit of all the pieces before installing them into the window. Also, the instructions are very vague, so hopefully you have done this. If not, don't worry, there are plenty of videos online to show you how to do it correctly.

This air conditioner is good for a small space. It takes a little while for it to get cool, but once it does, you can really feel the difference. For context, I’m in sunny California, and it can get really hot and humid here. Having air conditioning is key, and if you don’t have central AC, it can be tough to deal with the scorching hot temperatures in the summer and the heatwaves. That’s why this air conditioner is perfect. It’s compact enough to not take up too much space, the set up is not too hard and on par with our air conditioning systems if its kind, and it really does make the room feel cooler. I’d estimate it takes about 15-30 minutes before you feel the full difference, but absolutely worth it if you’re in the market for an air conditioning system and you live in a place where it is consistently hot and not sufficient enough to just crack open a window or turn on a fan. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my experience with this air conditioner and I anticipate getting a good couple of years of use from it.

Recommend staying away from this unit until GE refines this product. The AC init was easy enough to set up and only had a few parts to assemble, but after turning it on the fun began. First off, the unit made a loud vibration and clicking before the fan got up to full speed. Not a show stopper, but I would prefer a quieter startup. When running, its pretty quiet. Second issue: when moving the unit, be careful not to pull the hoses too hard as they pop out from the AC unit. I moved the AC unit about 2 feet right, and the inlet air hose popped free. It took a little but of elboe grease to get it back on, but overll the intake/exhaust hoses are not well sealed to the unit. Finally, it developed a leak. I noticed water pooling under the unit when I moved it. Upon further inspection, it was leaking water from the bottom. I tightened up all of the drain ports, but still, small leaking from under the unit. Needless to say, recommend staying away from this AC model.

So back in the day (and even today), a lot of people's solution to single room air-conditioning, were the boxy, clunky, hang it in the window, ugly boxes... We had to find ways to prop them, and not drop them, run the extension cord, just to get some modest air-conditioning.
Well these units are now available, and they work very very well.
More appealing in the room, as it is sleek, and can be positioned a little better, without having to run think heavy extension cords... BUT.. you do still need to be near a window.
VERY easy to setup, if you have a vertical window (up and down opening), crank windows, you will have some challenges with setting this up. Once the vent is in the window, and secure... you ready to go.
Turn it on and role.
Cold air starts to come up in just a few moments.
Not silent, but not crazy loud either. Not like those older style units, that you could hear from blocks away.
I was using this in a work space, that didn't have central air vents... and in 10-15 minutes, you could feel the difference in temperature. Over the next hour, it was very comfortable.
It is heavy though... so you are not going to be moving this up and down stairs, so it is portable in the sense, that you can move it around to fit the room better, but you are not going to use it in one room, then take to another, then move it to another floor, etc.
So this is a good fit, for a home that needs extra air-con, or a work shop, or an insulated garage.

Not Worth the Hype or the Price

Most of the glowing reviews that I read prior to purchasing this GE Profile portable AC came from customers who received the unit for free—which explains a lot. Unfortunately, my experience has been the opposite. Like other recent GE appliances I’ve purchased, this one has been beyond a letdown. The installation instructions are vague and leave out key details, especially for something that should be a simple window setup. No support videos are available, and customer service has been less than helpful. Once I got it running, it made a loud rattling noise—definitely not suitable for a bedroom. $600 down the drain.
