My protection plan won’t cover it being replaced or repaired, Best Buy claims they have no obligation to fix or repair since they don’t have it registered. $550 was a lot to spend for a year’s worth of ice and zero customer service.

It has happened through the night and woken us up. Also, sometimes the ice is just frost and not cubes. Wouldn’t recommend this. We waited a while to save up and buy it and are very disappointed with it.

My only complaint is that i purchased the side tank and it doesn't keep the water basin with enough water to make ice. It works perfectly well when i manually fill the reservoir on the machine itself.

Posted .Hello- Thanks so much for your purchase! We are so glad you are enjoying your new Opal Nugget Ice Maker. The ice is perfect and so easy to have a quick and cool crunchy treat. Typically if you have the side tank installed and the water isn't flowing from the tank to the icemaker well, it could mean there is an air bubble in the line. Check the following: Check that the hoses are connected properly. Make sure the hoses are lying flat. Lift the tank from the icemaker and raise it 4-5 inches until water starts to flow; then place the tank back in position. We hope this helps! I descaled it monthly and did a 3 day vinegar soak before taking the worthless zombie summoner to the store for Geek Squad to repair or replace. I expected better quality from GE and better service from Best Buy/ Geek Squad.

The Opal Ice Maker is a complex device that combines electrical and mechanical components such as a compressor, pump, motors and fans to deliver perfect nugget ice. These components power on at different times during the ice making cycle. There will be some noise associated with the running of these components. These normal noises typically cease after 10 to 45 minutes within the ice making cycle. Hard surfaces like the floor, walls and countertops can amplify these sounds. Note: When Opal is in need of defrosting, it may start to squeak as ice starts to build up around the mechanisms. The defrost cycle is automatic and may take 10 to 45 minutes. Not worth the money

Replacement worked great for about 4 days and now makes a screeching type noise occasionally as if it is freezing up. Not sure I would purchase again.
