They are just like the Sonic ice, but it is a bit large and occasionally makes loud noises. Still worth it though.

But now that I have it in my home and have used it daily for the last 4 weeks I love it!!!

The side reservoir is necessary otherwise it goes through water very quickly. Haven’t had a single problem with the machine.

The 2nd one I ordered came in perfect condition. Ge really needs to step their game up on the packaging of such an expensive item. Overall very satisfied

Used it everyday since purchase.

Made a lot of nugget ice pretty quickly. Over time it started to get louder and make some awkward noises. Five months later im left without a functional $500 ice maker and GE is taking foever to honor the one year replacement warranty. This was cleaned every 3 weeks using their opal cleaning solution as instructed. Read reviews elsewhere, this thing is junk.

I had wanted the original but never got one then the opal 2 came out and I finally just ordered it. It’s expensive, it’s just an ice maker, it’s absolutely worth it.

In the past I used to have one automatic connected to water/drain but electricity and water bills through thw roof as it was constantly making ice/melting. Not with this one, make sure you connect the side tank

Yes this is a luxury item for sure and it makes some low hum noise while working, but the features, finish and taste all make for a wonderful addition to our kitchen!
