Daily I need ot restart the ice machine, unplug it, then plug it back in and drain the reservoir at least 2 time before it will start making ice. Once it works it works, but be prepared to spend at least 20-30 minutes of your day babysitting it to make sure it starts working.

Worst consumer product design of the last decade

It has a sleek look that blends in with other modern consumer appliances. But, as others have stated the problems started around week 2 and have just continued to get worse. First its the screeching while making ice, then it doesnt sufficiently pump water from the reserve tank, then it stops realizing that the tank is out of water and the grears start grinding and making the worst noise you can imagine from an appliance, then to top it off, they have used some sort of plug from the 1950s that isn’t ergonomically designed and nearly requires pliers to take out of the outlet. Thats quite a problem when the machine has to be unplugged to avoid blood-curdling noise of mechanical death. This was a great concept but, and this comes from someone who works in the development of consumer products, this was an absolute DESIGN FAIL from top to bottom.

I only program it to run just before I get there so I have ice when I arrive.

Also, clean the side vents on the body of the ice maker using a hand vacuum or the attachments on your vacuum cleaner.
