Tried a budget model first but then decided to jump on this option for larger water capacity and nugget ice production. Value for the $ is probably not all there, but if cost is not the primary concern you won't be disappointed.

Straight out of the box machine makes the loudest god awful noise, that will last between a minute and 5 minutes. Only way to stop it other than unplugging unit. We had the original unit for about 2 years and it never made noises like this. There’s an entire Facebook group dedicated to this machine and the awful noises it makes. GE has no fix for it and is unresponsive, they blame water quality and/or maintenance. Ours was making this noise within 24 hours, and we have a whole house filtration system. The noise was audible throughout a 3500sq house. We returned it within 14 days.

Best Ice Maker EVER!

Stopped Working after 6 weeks

I tried all the suggestions. No help. We called GE and got someone that could only help with the WIFI end. Still trying to get it fixed. My advice. Go to sonic and buy ice from them

Unreal the noise and poor support

It’s great ice but the noise is unreal. It started with the defrost mode and was tolerable. Now it’s so loud it can be heard through the entire house and upstairs. I guess if you could keep the machine in a garage or a sound proof cabinet it would be great.

Easy to use and set up. A little pricey compared to other countertop ice machines, but; well worth it if you want "Sonic" ice.
