Not worth the money, return within two weeks

Until I had it for 11 days and it completely stopped working. According to the help desk at GE, it’s a common problem for the motor to go out on these. They then sent me an email with instructions on how to reset the pump, which did not work. Needless to say I boxed this very heavy ice maker back up for return. I enjoyed the wonderful ice for 10 days.

It started off fine, but after only a few uses the defrost function kicked in. Now it warns that it makes noise - but this noise is so loud that it wakes up my entire family on another floor of the house. Then it started making noise when creating the ice. It reached the point where my wife demanded that it go. Too bad - had high hopes for it.

We’re sorry to hear that you’re having issues with noises and water leaking - we understand how inconvenient that is and would like to share some tips that will help. -- During normal operation, condensation forms on the bottom surface of the ice bin. This water will sometimes collect and drip down the lower front surfaces of the ice maker. This is normal and the included drip tray can be installed in front of the Opal to collect this water. -- Also, the Opal Ice Maker is a complex device that combines electrical and mechanical components such as a compressor, pump, motors and fans to deliver perfect nugget ice. These components power on at different times during the ice making cycle. There will be some noise associated with the running of these components. These normal noises typically cease after 10 to 45 minutes within the ice making cycle. Hard surfaces like the floor, walls and countertops can amplify these sounds.
