After about 9 months it started making an awful screaching noise and GE was 0 help. I wish I would have read the reviews before I bought this. Very disappointed

GE opel icel maker.

GE will not help they told me to pay $250 if i need it to be fixed. because its out of warranty..for $600 not worth to buy it only to work for less than 16 months. And also I spent lots of time cleaning this ice maker every few weeks .

Add water

I do have warranty so i exchanged it for another thinking mine eas defective but had same problems. Im on my 3rd opal and it keeps making the same strange noises and keeps going into add water mode. GE really needs to take a look at this product.

Horrible squeling noise

The last one I bought didn't even take time to start making the noise it just started right away almost like they sent me a new one that was returned and never fixed. Its horrible!

Don’t waste your money!

This is the 3rd one we’ve had. 1st one would turn on. Second made it just out of warranty and then started making a constant screeching noise. This one lasted 2 months and sounds like machine gun fire or it’s about to throw a rod.

GE support is really hard to get a hold of. They try to help, but if it's broken you'll spend at least a week of your life trying to get it replaced. No clue how long it will actually take since I'm a week in and still trying to get some help. Emailed them back 6 days ago after trying everything they asked and have received no response. Called and have no idea how long they're going to leave me on hold.

Worst thing ever!!

I Bought this icemaker and returned it 24 hours later. It makes a loud grinding noise that is not normal. After looking at other reviews, I can see that they have a huge problem for such an expensive item.
