Worked ok for 2 weeks then started to go into defrost mode all the time and not make ice

I have friends that have this machine and they love it. Mine however is loud and makes barely any ice. I think I might just have a bad one though because everyone else likes theirs.

Where is it? Best Buy sucks at customer service help

They sent me a used unit trying to pass it off as new. Even if it were new I wasn’t impressed. Maybe if this were like $150-$200 I would feel different.

the good: * nugget ice! - The ice is the perfect size and texture for chewing. It is exactly what you get at fast food places like Sonic or Chick Fil-a. * Did i mention nugget ice? - If you're looking at this machine specifically for nugget ice, then you probably know what you're looking for. This ice is exactly what you're thinking it is! * makes ice quickly - One cube at a time, it drops ice fairly quickly into the bucket. * high capacity ice/water - It has a large reservoir for water, but if you're going through ice quickly you can go through the water relatively fast as well. The large reservoir is nice to have. A way to connect it to a water source would've nice to have, but the reservoir is large enough so that you aren't constantly filling it up with water. * attractive design - More stylish in terms of small kitchen appliances than most of the others I've seen. * wifi/app control - One of the best features (other than of course the nugget ice itself) is the ability to control via a mobile app. I personally set mine to a schedule during the week - off during night time hours and have it switch on when I wake up in the morning. Of course you can also turn it on/off and control the light in the ice compartment via the app as well. the bad: * a bit noisy - It's not distractingly noisy, but at this price point I would expect much quieter operation. * large - The footprint is relatively small but the appliance itself is rather large. It takes up a lot of vertical space. * wifi/app setup not well documented - None of the app setup is documented in the manual or online. I eventually figured out how to connect to it via a tip from another review. There seem to be at least 3 apps that look like they *could* work, but only one does. Also, you don't connect to this machine via bluetooth; you have to enable wifi on the machine and then connect to it like a hot spot. * price - It is definitely on the expensive side. misc: For anyone looking to connect their ice machine to the mobile app: * Download the SmartHQ app. * Push and hold the Power and Light buttons on the appliance until the wifi logo lights up. * Connect to the appliance wifi. Credentials are on the back of the appliance on a label at the top right. * Once you connect to the appliance wifi, you then connect it to your home wifi by entering those credentials in the app. * You can then actually add your machine in app at this point. overall: In my opinion this is a very good ice machine and the ice is of course fantastic. There are a few minor issues which prevent a 5 star review for me personally, but that in no way detracts from what appears to be a quality machine. It certainly appears to be durable and well made, but of course only time will tell if that's the case. Highly recommended, 4 stars.

Worked great for a month then started to make a horrible nice. Going to return it

Icemaker keeps requiring us to add water, but it has water. We have repeatedly adjusted the external water lines, but the problem must be the internal water line.

Had it for a year, then it stopped working. I’ve tried trouble shooting without success.

Not worth the money. On our second ice machine in less than a year…

Worked great from 4-24-21 til 5-22-21.........then died. Best buy will not accept return after 5-9-21 less than 30 days. Don't buy it

Great ice maker but it would last for about a yr so definitely get warranty

bought this 2 days ago and it will not make ice, have tried everything troubleshoot wise. waste of money

The Opal 2.0 is one of the best Ice Makers I have seen. Our ice maker gets a workout. My family devours the ice as it is made. But the Opal keeps up and then some. Ice making starts in as little as 20 minutes and can make up to 24 lbs in a day. The noise level while Ice is made is very acceptable. It can barely be heard in another room. The extra water tank is great for those times when extra ice is needed and its nice to not worry about water levels. The Bin holds up to 3lbs of ice at a time. The opal weighs in at about 40 lbs. and is wrapped in stainless steel. a stylish addition to any kitchen. Cleaning the exterior just requires a lite wiping The front control buttons have been switched to pressure style in the 2.0 version. The controls show: Clean, Light (The LED lighting for the bin has two brightness levels) and Power. The left side show indicators including making ice, defrosting, add water, and cleaning. Cleaning couldn't be easier. A hard water map is included with the unit as to when you should run the cleanings, which takes the guess work out. Distilled vinegar is all that's needed, not expensive descalers all the other manufactures want you to buy.. I live in a extreme hard water area, so I use distilled water that I pickup at the local dollar store. This extends my recommended cleaning cycle by a few weeks. Just once a month I run the cleaning cycled as directed for trouble free Ice making. The Opal has an internal UV light to help keep the inside free of bacteria. The app (Smart HQ) is great for letting you see machine status, update firmware and schedule ice production time, and status of cleaning. My family was delighted when it was up and running. The first two batches were gone before I was even able to try some. This was an excellent addition to our kitchen. I highly recommend this to friends and family.

Product failed twice. Returned twice. Great concept poor implementation

This is the loudest appliance we own, louder than the washing machine and dryer,

Wonderful when working but 2 months in and we have a water pump failure.
