Will it break on you? Almost definitely! It worked great for a couple of months, then suddenly the "Add Water" light starts coming on. I have spent so much time, resources, and effort cleaning and trying to keep this machine going; but I have finally given up. It has been thrown into the junk pile. Conclusion. Do not waste your money on this machine. For the cost of this machine, and the cost of supplies to clean it constantly, you are better off going to Sonic everyday! This machine is not cheap. That's a lot of trips to Sonic!

A squeak after a week

After about a month now it still squeaks and super annoying. Will be assessing our options for replacement.

Posted .Hello - We understand your concern about the squeaking sound coming from your ice maker. Water hardness can produce this affect of a calcium build up on the auger. We suggest that you try using distilled water if you're in an area with high water hardness. Also, please clean your machine with citric acid using the cleaning kit. Of course they only cover a year warranty bc they know these will break down. Do not buy, its not worth it!

Initially, it worked great—making ice quickly and without any issues. However, after three years of careful maintenance, including weekly cleaning as recommended, the machine started leaking water all over my kitchen. It seemed like the water was leaking from inside the machine itself. I reached out to GE, fully aware that the one-year warranty had expired. I was hoping they could at least offer a technician to repair it. To my surprise, they told me they don’t provide any repair services for this machine and suggested that I simply buy a new one. I find it unbelievable that their solution to a $600 machine breaking down is just to replace it, especially when they don’t offer any replacement parts or repair options. From the reviews I’ve read, it seems I’m lucky it lasted three years—others have had it fail within months. If you do decide to purchase this machine, I strongly recommend getting an extended warranty; otherwise, you might end up wasting $600, as there’s no way to repair or even disassemble the machine since everything is welded together.

I got the black and black stainless on sale for the same price as regular stainless. So glad I did. Much better look and easier to keep clean. My only complaint is that the water tank is a littte smaller so I'm generally filling up the tank twice a day and that's with only me using it. Make sure you clean it AT LEAST every 2 Weeks or you will soon have mold everywhere. Once you have it you can never get rid of it.

After a few weeks using this one I’d have to echo some of the other 5 star reviews I read before buying. It’s much more quiet than our old nugget I’ve maker, makes ice more quickly, and makes a lot of it!
