I perchased an ic maker for my wife that was about $250. Just ended up living with it until we we could get a better one. We reslly like the tank tgat is easly removable for refill, the amount of ice made in a fast time, and the best chewable ice. No more having to drive to Sonic for a bag of their ice, not a bad option until you can buy this one though.

Brother, when I tell you this is the best purchase we have made in the past two years...man, its crazy. Talk about first world problems and first world solutions. This thing solves exactly what you're thinking, and it does it very well. If you're reading this...and you have the means to get it, just get it.

I recently purchased the GE Profile 2.0 38-lb. Portable Ice Maker and I couldn't be happier with my decision. you like crunchy ice this product is above average. The ice is great but the machine noise is horrible. Pros: ice is good, as expected for crunchy ice like Sonic or Chick-fil-A + others. The additional water tank is great. Because you can fill up the ice make without taking out the tray every time. Cons: Machine is very noisy. I waited to get this because i thought with GE working with opal it would make it better than their 1.0 version. not the case. Noise is enough to wake you up from sleeping. Ice is actually not that fast. You take 3 to 4 scoops for a tall glass. This takes about a third of the ice in the tray. So 3 to 4 drinks when full. No matter how careful you are when pull the ice tray out water goes everywhere. This is why they give you the extra tray in front, but really there has to be a better design and this was over the 1.0 version without GE. Long story short, if you like the crunchy ice and you are willing to put up with the lack of productivity and loud noises, you have to have crunchy, and you habe few extra bucks burning a hole in your pocket then sure, go and buy one. Otherwise spend $250 less on a regular table top unit éè

I was always going through drive throughs to get Ice that I liked because fridge ice is annoyingly big. This machine is amazing! Open box price made it even better!

Great product.. gets loud sometimes but if I unplug and plug back in it works fine

I had been looking at ice makers for some time. I was tired of never having enough, or to much from buying bagged ice. This gives me plenty of the great nugget/pellet ice I crave when I go out. I like the side tank that lets me gage when I need to add more water. I also like that the ice bin has a drain that drips right back into the reservoir so it does not waste water and my ice stays fresh and does not clump together like it would in the freezer. It does take up a bit of cabinet space, but it was well worth it in my opinion.

This is a great machine so far. Great ice. Great use of space. Purchased warranty for price of mind.

I was warned that the main issue with this ice maker was cleaning. After reading the instructions that the unit should be cleaned monthly, I thought "it's a long process, but just once a month is not a deal breaker". Well....after about 3 months of use (and regular cleaning) it starts making horrible noises. I google and learn that this is an indicator that the unit needs cleaning. Check the app....yep, says it needs cleaning. Wait....I just cleaned it a week ago. Fast forward to 9 months out...we are up to screaming noises 3-5 days after cleaning (and app says "needs cleaning"). LOVE the ice, no problems with production and amount of ice (although it is just 2 of us using ice and we both are out most of the day AND I shut it down at night). But having to clean it twice a week is the reason I won't get another one or recommend it to friends.

We absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this icemaker! Its so easy to set up, love the extra water tank so less refills and easier. The best ice ever!

Makes Perfect nugget ice. Somewhat noisy and hard to clean. Size is perfect for counter. Definitely with the investment.

This product is amazing and produces the best ice of any ice maker I've tried. Easy to set up (if you follow the directions lol). A common issue exists with this model squealing loudly after some time of use. I had the Best Buy protection and was able to swap the banshee for a new one, no questions asked.

The Opal 2.0 makes great nugget ice. It's easy to clean and pretty quiet. The manual recommends weekly cleaning, and if you use the ice maker regularly, that is definitely important. Luckily, cleaning is pretty simple, requiring only a teaspoon of bleach and 5 cups of water (followed by a few clean water rinses). If the system is cleaned regularly, the ice always has a fresh, lean taste. The can use a proprietary water filter, but it is not included. We have operated it continuously for about a month without a water filter, but we do use water filtered from our fridge. Overall, we're very happy with it.

Love the ice! The awesome chewy kind! It is super quick and we used RO water from a well maintained system, so we opted not to use their filters. The only reason I took a star away is it’s noisy. It is an expensive machine and should run quieter. The motor hums when on. We only run it a few hours a day and the Bluetooth makes it super easy.

Pellet ice…what else can I say? It does take up some real estate but it makes pellet ice! The bin is small, but it fills up pretty quick. My family of 4 is very happy. I was tired of my Samsung icemaker in my fridge freezing up only to find out…I’m out of ice again and I needed to steam it again to dethaw it. This solves that problem and gives me the coveted…Pellet Ice. I love the water reservoir and have to refill it once every 1-2 days. I do hear the occasional odd noise from it (all are documented in manual) but I think it’s really quiet. Expensive…yes. But I’d buy it again in a heartbeat.

So, ive had this machine for about a year now and I know that youve probably seen every online influencer raging about this ice maker. The truth is... its worth it. Easy to clean, easy to fill, easy to manage, simple app. Thats all there is to it. This thing puts out the perfect sonic ice. No more Sonic drive through trips for a $10 bag of ice. This thing makes ice quick. Within 10 mins my ice drawer is usually full. I was concerned about the ice drawer not being insulated but i later found that it intentionally lets the ice melt and recycles the water for continuously soft and crunchy ice nuggets. Cleaning is a breeze. Just empty the ice drawer, pour in your cleaning solution (diluted, bleach, vinegar, etc) and press the cleaning cycle button. Once it is done, run the water tubes into the sink to empty the solution and done. I like to empty the dirty water and then fill it with clean water, run a cleaning cyle, then empty once more just to rinse out any residual solution. I suggest using purified or distilled water when making ice so that you dont have to clean it as ofter. This thing is a little heavy so i suggest having it sit close to the sink for easy cleaning. 10/10

Fantastic Ice Maker. Starts making Ice within 7 minutes. Ice is as described, chewable and delicious . Noise is not an issue for me, a dull noise like a quiet dishawasher while it is producing ice. The side tank is definatley worth the extra investment. With out the side tank you would have to remove the ice drawer to refill the water reservoir. Ice production is fast. My only complaint is GE offers a water filter for this machine. At a $600.00 price point you would think the water filter would be included with your purchase.

Love this ice machine, this is our 2nd one We have only had it a year and its already starting to give us problems (squeaking noises and stopped making ice)

This ice maker is great! Makes the same soft chewable nugget ice that you get at Sonic. It makes ice surprisingly fast, and it is not obnoxiously loud as I read in a few reviews. In fact, it is quiet most of the time, as the only noise is when it is actively making ice. I did search out the version 2.0 of this machine, as they seem to have addressed several problems that users complained of with the initial version (like noise). Overall, very pleased with the purchase and would recommend it for anyone wanting nugget ice at home or if your fridge’s ice maker can’t keep up with your family’s ice usage (both were reasons for us).
