Nugget ice maker

Think it had compressor problem. This is the 2nd nugget ice maker i have tried. The first one (different brand) lasted 3 months. So i have gave up on them.

Mine started getting an oily sludge in it and GE did nothing to help after sending them the photos and sounds coming from the machine. I cleaned it every week or more with their cleaner, vinegar and bleach and nothing worked. They refused to fix it or send me a new one. Didn’t want to make my family sick with what was getting into the ice.

There is a UV light in the upper resevoir that is supposed to kill bacteria. The light is not strong enough. The monthly cleaning is not enough to keep it free of mold and mildew. I have had this unit completely disassembled about 4 times ro extensively clean, but I have given up. Way too much maintenance.

The 2nd one I ordered came in perfect condition. Ge really needs to step their game up on the packaging of such an expensive item. Overall very satisfied

The side reservoir is necessary otherwise it goes through water very quickly. Haven’t had a single problem with the machine.
