    Purchased a smaller unit with bullet ice for around $130. That machine lasted less than 6 months. This machine is perfection and makes perfect chewy ice each and every time. Highly recommend!

    It's an awesome ice machine when it works! I would NOT recommend this machine at all it is poorly made and does not warrant the cost. I had to exchange it twice and bought the extended warranty on the 3rd unit. First time it blew up after 2 days and the 2nd unit leaked everywhere! Now 9 months later I'm having issues with the water not feeding to the basin properly and it endlessly churning trying to make ice.

    I bought the ice maker in April of 2022. About 3 months later, it started making a sound like a propeller airplane. We descaled it and tried again to no avail. I entered a support ticket in August and I’ve been waiting for a response from the support team for over a month at this point. I paid $629 for 3 months supply of ice with no sign of it fixed.

    Was great when it worked. Had it for about 15 months and it stopped working. Performed regular cleanings as directed. Tried recommended cleaning, maintenance videos and still does not work. Very disappointed in product. Be ready to spend $650 every 12-18 months if you want to have a working product

      We can understand your disappointment when your icemaker stops working. We would like to help! If the water well is filled to the upper fill line and no ice is being produced, please perform this simple test: 1. Please start the Opal and switch to cleaning mode. Don't forget to detach the side tank. 2. Remove the screen/filter at the bottom corner of the reservoir, exposing the small white rubber inlet used for water circulation. 3. Make certain that the Opal is not connected to the phone app and that the water well is filled to the upper fill line with distilled water. 4. Remove the ice bin and press the button to see if the Opal pumps water. This could take up to 5 minutes to start. 5. Plug the small inlet with your finger for 10-15 seconds to create a vacuum within the pump/circulation system. 6. Release the plug and wait a minute or until you see water movement. 7. If you do not see a change, you may want to repeat these steps a couple of times. Note: If you see water movement, please switch to ice mode and run for 30 minutes. **You may also need to prime your pump so try using a Turkey Baster/Injector and gently fill the hose that doesn't go to the side tank with water, and then restart the machine. If you continue to have issues, please reach out to our Opal team at 1-866-907-6718, M-F 8:00-8:00 EST. GE_Appliances

If it is having issues, we do recommend the troubleshooting tips on page 14 of the Use and Care manual found on the product page. If these tips do not help, please contact Opal at 1-866-907-6718.     Do not buy this ice machine unless you only want a product that sometimes works. Our original stopped working - we sent it back - and had to pay $300 to be held on our credit card until they received our return. We just sent ours back with warranty and got a replacement and now it stopped working. An ice machine that costs over $500 should work on a day to day basis!

    This is the second time that I’ve had this problem in the past 2 years it goes into defrosting mode and never comes out of it don’t know what the issue is but it seems to work fine for a year and then the problems start
